    This is a little more complicated and the video is long. If your new Toyota will not display the QR coffee and the reset button is grayed out, it is likely that your car is associated with another account. This video shows how a dealership can unlink the VIN so you can connect to your new car.

    Went to the Ford dealership where I bought my 2022 tundra and they have no clue what I was talking about. They shouldn't sell cars locked like this. I went to a Toyota dealership and showed him the video and in less than 1 minute it was all good. Service manager said we all learned something today. Incredible. Thanks 👍

    God I wish I’d seen this video from the start. If you just bought a Toyota from the dealership, and you built a rapport with any of the salespeople, talk to them and mention what was said in this video. I showed the guy this video, and the process was done in less than 5 minutes. You’ve got my subscription 100%

      Rapport is important. I made this for my sales guys but I imagine they might be a little defensive if a customer asked them to watch it… well, right up until they realized that it helped them 😂

    This is really a hassle considering I’m the sole owner of my car, bought it brand new off the lot with zero miles. All I’m trying to do is renew my subscription (which I think a subscription for a car is silly to begin with) but thank you for your help. At least now I know which direction to go in!

    Thank you so much. It only took a day seeing the name of my salesman pop up on my car every time I turned it on to make me crazy. Thanks to your many videos, I was able to text him and ask him to disconnect himself from my new 2023 Corolla. That was so annoying! It wouldn't have been so bad but his music choices were quite different from mine.

    I bought a new Venza 2024 two weeks ago, and the car never showed the language menu or the QR code. The reset is not greyed out. I called Toyota Brand Management and my dealer, and everyone was clueless about what I asked them.
    I am an IT programmer, so my gut feeling tells me the issue is not a module failing on the car. It is something like you describe: my car is assigned to another account, or I don't have the trial period assigned either.
    I wish all Toyota dealers or customer service were like you. I am resigned to not having those services.
    I bought a Garmin GPS, and my phone can detect if I am in an accident and call 911. I will get a service similar to the old-time Lojack, something that is current.
    Having all these issues with a brand that is supposed to be the best is a shame.

      I am having the same issue with my 2023 Highlander. I have had it for 1 year now, and my free subscriptions just expired. I went on the app and paid to subscribe to the expired subscriptions, and I can not get the code to pop up on the multimedia screen. I am going to take it to the dealer.

    I called Toyota as suggested and in a few minutes they responded and asked for my purchase info. Emailed the info, they received it and we will see what happens.
    I bought a used vehicle from CarMax and they do t clear out the old drivers info. Thanks for your help.

    Do I need to do this if I am renewing the toyota drive connect & remote connect? The app does not show the QR code it just spins forever.... The trial period expired a few days ago and now that I have renewed it, it won't let me activate it on the truck! :(

    I have subscribed to you since the first time I watched one of your posts (about how to set up the Apple Car play .. which I’ve forgotten which one it was, as now I have finally found the time to RESET that whole system ) and I hope more people do too!

    For anyone that has still this issue, I disconnected my battery for 30 mins, and when I put it back in, my radio was factory reset and the primary driver was deleted.

    Really enjoying your channel. We have a 2024 Grand Highlander and none of your tricks seem to work for multimedia QR code. Called Toyota today and they said that my vehicle didn’t show I up as having DCM. We have an SOS button on the roof and the light is green.

      Yikes. That’s going to mean a trip to the dealer unfortunately. I will tell you the first thing they will do… they will disconnect your battery for 45 minutes. That resets the brain of the DCM. It fixes nearly every problem like this. If that doesn’t work, the next step is replacing the DCM.
      I have known people who try this themselves. Not sure I’d recommend that because you really should have it documented by a dealer but there is no harm in it either.

    Hi Steve, I just subscribed.
    Operate a few of the comments and have not had any luck finding anyone with my current situation.
    We just bought this vehicle for my wife and paired her phone up with the registered with the app so she can do the fun car connect things.
    I would like for my phone to also be enabled. I can’t find a way to get the QR code to come back up and I definitely don’t want to reset anything to override her account/connection.
    Can there be more than one iPhone using the app to do the remote things from the Toyota app like start, lock/unlock, etc.?
    Just so there’s no confusion, I’ve had no problem connecting my phone to be able to use the Bluetooth features from CarPlay and beyond.

    This is for pre owned vehicles?
    New vehicles should be good to go and set like your previous videos

      Usually, this process would be for used cars but there are plenty of times things need reset. Sometimes a car can be sold but not delivered or a car was used for demo proposes and not cleared out. It also happens when the primary driver wasn’t present during delivery and the buyer wants their kid or spouse as the account holder.

    I went into my infotainment display and tried linking my key fob but it didnt save my gauge presets. underneath the link key fob toggle there is an option to remove the profile. I thought this was for just the key fob. turns out it deleted my entire profile and now all my connected services are gone. i am going through the motions of getting my connected services reactivated but there was a pop up that said it may take 48 hrs to take effect. I still wasnt able to get that QR code and make a new profile though. i will see if i can contact a dealer if it doesnt show up in 48 hrs. hopefully they wont charge me for diagnostics....

    Hey Steve , great video. I will definitely need your help. I went to every single website and forum but couldn’t find an answer. So i just bought a brand new Tundra last week. They didn’t have the color we like with the 14” screen there. So we brought the one with 8”. I found a junk yard where they had a tottalled Tundra 2024 with the 14” screen intact. I paid and had it installed on my car. Everything works , except that 14” was already assigned to someones account so i cant reset it since the button is grayed out. Also it wont mach the vin of my car if i go to the dealer ro ask like you say in the video. Is there anything i can do in this case ?

      @@guicampidelli I honestly don’t know if that can be made to work. The head unit is connected to the VIN but a dealer might be able to get your unit synced up.     My solution: Call Toyota support, and painfully speak to someone reading a script. The support person finally reset my account, and I had to press and hold the Call button. After the first lines are spoken to you, wait and you will get an option to Activate. After that, the app was able to reconnect.

    I just got my entertainment center replaced. Navigation tab is blank. System reset does not give me the set up/qr code. I tried unlinking my car from my app to do it over again and it unsubscribed me from everything. I’m beyond pissed going from one defective unit to another in a car that isn’t even a year old.

    I couldn't get the QR code, so I went to the dealer. They factory reset my system, and it still wouldn't connect. I uninstalled the toyota app and then reinstalled the app signed back in and was able to get th QR code after that.

    Hello Steve, I called Toyota and I explained what’s going on, they said they cannot help since they done all the basic trouble shooting, I called me dealer and they referred me to Toyota . 😆. Can you help me please? I bought a used Truck and unable to to link to truck. I am able to connect to Bluetooth but not my profile, I scan vin# to app and that’s it just like your video.     i just got the new highlander and im having the same issue. Right before i drove off the lot i did the intial set up of the toyota app and used the qr code. my mistake was opting out of the toyota connected services then and there. when i got home the same night i realized i wanted the connected services and remote connect stuff etc. so i activated the free trials on the app. the app asked me to finally activiate the services but going to the car and scanning the qr code. thats where my issue began. i still cant get the qr code to pop out even with all the resets per your other videos. ive contacted the toyota engagement hotline and ive explained several times what the issue is but they cant fix it with all their troubleshooting. Can you help me with this Steve. thanks

    Mine shows the reset option. I was able to get the QR code to pop up, and then it VERY briefly shows “open your Toyota app…” then suddenly switches to “Something went wrong. Please try again.” every single time I tried the tips you gave. Any other insight? (In the meantime I called the 800 number and they’re supposed to call me back Monday.)

      It is likely that there is an account associated with your car. The reset doesn’t end that account. Your dealer can delete the old account and so can Toyota. They will need you to email a copy of your registration

    Does this works the same for European cars? I have no smart connect on my myt app. All i can see is if the car is unlocked, the route, but no airco, or close open doors. I own a Highlander premium 2022.

      This is for US vehicles but it might work there as well. However, the QR code was not used until the 2023 model year in Highlander so whatever is happening to yours is part of the legacy system

      @@laz4life I have no access to Euro spec vehicles. In the US, the only ones that allow control of the heating and air from the app are the models with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0. That does not include the Highlander.

    Steve, I bought a demo car and love it, but no matter what I do it tells me that connected services are disabled. I tried reset and tomorrow will ask the dealer. To use this portal. Any ideas?

      @@griz50cal it’s likely that whoever used it as a demo declined the services which means the DCM is off. That’s unfortunate but you’ll need to call Toyota at 800-331-4331 to reactivate it. The dealer portal has been broken for weeks but even when it worked, the dealer couldn’t reactivate the DCM

    Here's what I did to get that QR code. Call that 800 number and jump through a bunch of questions. They didn't ask me to upload anything. In fact, after verifying all the info, I got to talk to a person. Here's what he told me to do.
    1) Hit the SOS button on the overhead console.
    2) When the system asks if you're in an emergency, say NO
    3) That would move you to the next step which gives you a bunch of options.
    4) Pick the option that asks if you want a REMOTE VERIFICATION ...(or something like that. The key word is REMOTE).
    5) You say: YES
    6) Click the SOS button to end
    Wait 24 hours (in my case, it's about 6 hours). You're set. In fact, I didn't need the QR code after doing this. The system just automatically enrolls me and sets everything up for me.

      That's really interesting. Toyota asks us not to use the SOS button for making changes to customer's accounts but if this is an automated procedure, I guess that makes sense. I'm going to look into this one, but that procedure would be difficult for me to show in a video. Thanks for the info.

      That's an odd message unless you're outside of the US. This system does not work outside the US and Canada. If you're in the US and have this message, get it to your local dealer.

      If you bought it from a dealership, they need to clear out the previous owner. Otherwise, you need to call Toyota at 800-331-4331

    I have same problem. It possible, if i will give my VIN number to support me with that? Because i buy my Sequioa 2024 and export to Bulgaria. I will pay all fees for that.

      Toyota will not support any export of the Sequoia. None. The dealership that sells it to you will also lose allocation and any incentives. It violates the dealer agreement. On the technical side, the DCM has a US based AT&T SIM card which will not work outside the US. The remote features can’t be used. You may get CarPlay to work but that’s it

    Mine isn’t greyed out and the it still doesn’t work. I got the QR code to show up but when I tried to save it it said an error occurred try again later. So the salesman added my name and profile manually to the touch screen in the car but I can’t add the vin to the Toyota app.

      That means there is an account already associated with that vehicle. Your salesman can clear it out out you can call 800-331-4331

      @@TrainerSteveClifford Thanks, but the reset button isn’t greyed out. But it still doesn’t work. It says a problem occurred try again later. Frustrating. I got the QR code but errs out when trying to save at the end of registering car to app

      @@ArtVandelay-ImporterExporter I understand that, but it is likely that a person is already registered to that car and that it why you’re getting the error. Send me an email with your VIN at stevecliffird@sheehy.com and I’ll check it

      If it’s greyed out, there is an active account and it needs reset. Call 800-331-4331 or see your dealer as I describe in this video.
