    Replacing the timer is certainly an option, but so it fixing the problem with the timer. The timer can be opened up and then just clean the contacts. Inside the 'timer' (which is really a motorized switch) is just a clock motor and an assembly of leaf springs. The contacts get burnt from all the Off/On activity. An emery board or sandpaper will work if you don't have the proper contact cleaning tool. Once a washer/dryer is ~8+ years old, new parts become hard to come by. We just fixed our own timer this evening. $230 for a New timer, problem though is that the normal appliance stores say the part is not available. 4 used ones on eBay $50 - $120 and 1 old, NIB timer for $230!?. Husband and I fixed ours in about two+ hours. This video is just fine but if the timer Motor is still working, there is no need to replace the timer assembly, just open it up and clean the contacts. What do you have to lose? Enjoy!

      Thank you so much, I'm 90% sure you're on the right track for my machine, it just quit working mid cycle. Every position works except for the final rinse/spin.

      If anyone happens to find this, before you pull your timer out check if your lid switch is clicking. Found another video about replacing it so I decided to check mine and nope no click, luckily a screwdriver shoved in the hole did make it click and let me finish this load. Bonus new switches are $20 instead of $200+ for a used timer.

    Thanks Mike B. I was excited that this is almost identical to my washing machine. Then you brought out the REPLACEMENT part.
    I wanted a home fix...which is what I got; but, let me describe my problem more. Like you, my machine did not go into the rinse or spin cycles; but, the timer DID continue until the next space on the dial, I followed your instructions to take off the timer dial. I used a can of compressed air to spray it out a little in the holes on the back and beneath the the dial. I reattached the ground wire to the metal part of the cover and plugged it back in. I set the dial on "spin" and popped out the knob. It immediately went into the spin cycle. Thank you for the helpful video. I hope this helps others as well.

      Thanks for your comments and of course this video. The replacement timers are quite expensive for such an old mechanical style of unit. The cleaning of the timer with compressed air sounds like a plan and very likely the fault of our Inglis. Now twice, the timer stops without draining the drum. Works after manually starting it again where it was last. Appreciate the advice. Thanks.

    I watched this video and thought I had a bad timer or water inlet valve. After some checking it turns out I had a bad FloodSafe hose from the cold waterside. When it went to rinse it received no cold water and just sat there. Luckily the fix was inexpensive and this video did help me to eliminate the items that were working fine.

    Great video - both this and the one on the lid switch. My question is, how to determine if it's the lid switch or the timer that needs replacing? If it helps, I have a KitchenAid washer, model KAWS850LQ1. Mine stops at rinse, but if I manually advance the timer knob about 1/8" it will often (but not always) finish the cycle. Thanks.

      Thanks for watching, have you verified your drain hose is clean and clear not allowing any blockage of drain water. Also, how is your water pressure coming into the washer?
      Is the water coming into your washer the same pressure or speed it was the day you purchased washer... or has it slowed down?
      Your screens inside water valve may be clogged. If you clean your screens, which are right inside where are your Hot and cold water lines connect to the washer are...& it doesn’t fix the problem, you will need to replace your water valve.

    I 'fixed' my LG front loading washer which was stuck on rinse and wouldn't drain and move on to spin cycle. Unplug the washer. On this particular washer there is a small panel on the front lower left. You have to pop it open with a butter knife. Inside is a small black plastic plug on the left and what looks like a larger black plastic dial on the right. These are filters that probably need to be dealt with. Be prepared with towels and a bucket or large bowl since the washer is full of water.
    First the small black plug and pull it out gently. It is attached to a flexible tube. Point it a your bowl or bucket, remove the black cap and let the water drain. There will probably be some sand or guck. This is slow, so once it drains clear you can plug it back up, push back in place and deal with the filter on the right. But you might want to the water in the washer come out this slow way because when you begin to remove the filter on the right side the water in the washer will gush out. It's much easier to deal with if your washer is on a pedestal with a drawer underneath so you can position a bowl to catch the water. So remove the filter on the right side. In my case it was clogged with two bobby pins, a whole cloth napkin (that I hadn't seen in years) and a whole lot of lint. Put it back together. That did the trick for me.
    Side note: another fix - if LG washer shows error code LE - unplug, wait 90 seconds. Rotate drum manually to left 4 times then manually to the right 4 times. Plug back in. This resets something and has worked for dozens of people.

    Is it common for the other cycles to work normally if the timer seems to have failed on one of them?

    • @DIYwithMichaelBorders
      @DIYwithMichaelBorders  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Michael Weber
      Thanks for watching & yes it is. The internal design of the timer assists in coordinating the washing machine through its cycle.
      At any point, any one of those internal mechanisms inside the timer wear out or fail, the timer will no longer be able to continue guiding the washer through all of its cycle.
      In other words, the timer guides the washer through wash, rinse, and spin...but can stop at any point during that full cycle if any of the internal timer parts fails.

    Thanks for the video. I have a very similar washer that I think might be having the same problem. One thing I want to try before I buy a new timer, though, I have read that there may be a sock or something stuck in the drain. I read there should be a plate on the back near the outlet hose that I can remove and check the drain but I can't find it on mine. Since you have such a similar model, I was hoping you could tell me how to check the drain to see if it is clogged?

    When replacing the first part (silver in this case) dial, can it only go on one way? I mean could you replace it incorrectly where the indicator mark is not aligned correctly or do the grooves make it so it can only be replaced in one position? I'm talking about the piece that is underneath the button. Also, is this the only possible thing that could be causing the washer to stop mid cycle?

    • @DIYwithMichaelBorders

      Annony Mouse Thanks for checking out the video Annony Mouse! Great question. The knob assembly is designed to fit on the housing in only one position. This is to prevent any confusion in regards to the position of Knob and position of Timer.
      To answer your 2nd question: No...and I’m so glad you asked! At any point the “Lid Switch” becomes faulty, it will not allow the cycle to spin. This is a safety feature built into the Machine to alleviate water flying ALL OVER THE HOUSE with the washer lid open 😱...That definitely would be a lengthy clean up! With this said... once the lid switch fails... the cycle no longer allows the washer to enter the spin cycle.
      Below is a link to a video that runs you through the step-by-step process on how to replace your “lid switch” and get the washer back up and running properly. I always recommend replacing the “Timer” and the “Lid switch” since both parts can cause this issue and in most cases both parts have a life expectancy of five years. Keep me posted on your progress.

      Thanks for watching & sharing your experience! After reading your comments & understanding that you have already replaced your lid switch and your timers, an additional part it may be is your water intake valves.
      These valves can clog over the years of operation and in the event that they clog...your water intake will obviously slow down and or stop completely.
      As of now it’s still sounds like your water is coming in and out of the machine just fine however as the screens inside the valves gather more and more grime in debris... it can definitely lead to the timer, lid switch, & cycle duration being interfered with.

    I can not for the life of me get the panel to lift off. I have the same make, but mine appears to be an older model. There are the top screws (which I have removed) but there are no other screws ANYWHERE. Ive tried pulling, pushing, lifting, sideways, and nothing gives. Any suggestions? Thanks!

    Would you know what's going on with my machine if it stops working when the dial gets to "Pause Cool Down" feature, is it something serious? I am able to switch the dial to Spin and that works but every time I start a new cycle it just stops at Pause Cool Down. I have a Kenmore washing machine, Any suggestions are appreciated!

      Thanks for watching & sharing your experience! This is common with Kenmore washers more than others.
      This is signs of a faulty section within your Timer & once the cycle gets to the point of cool down, it doesn’t know to continue due to the dead spot in Timer sequence.
      We recommend replacing old Timer with new Timer. This should ultimately fix your hick-up & allow washer to complete a full cycle efficiently & effectively.

    Just purchased a new Crosley washing machine..nothing fancy.. It will fill with water, drain, but will not rinse or spin. I have noticed that the lid-lock light does not come on when it starts. Once it drains, the light goes back to wash.. If I manually set the machine to rinse & spin, it will work. What could this be?

      Tanna Weaver Thanks for checking out the video and sharing your comment and experience. If you are experiencing same issues as in this video, it's possible that your timer has begun to fault. So my whirlpool top load washer will start fill, but then its like it can't switch over, it makes this weird clicking noise, & it usually eventually turns over, but its getting worse & taking much longer to click over. Is this due to a bad timer? It seems like every thing I've read about faulty/bad timers say that it just stops, but mine continues to make a clicking noise like its trying to move on but its stuck or its having a hard time pushing through.

      Thanks for watching & sharing your experience! Is the ticking sound coming from the actual Timer itself?
      You are experiencing 1 of 2 issues...
      1. Your timer is wearing out and beginning to work intermittently during the cycle...can lead to stop & go ticking... replacing your timer may get rid of this issue.
      2. Your lid switch is wearing out and beginning to work intermittently. Once your wash cycle gets to the spin portion, your lid switch verifies that your actual lid is closed. It then sends an electrical signal to the timer to continue the cycle and begin spinning. If your lid switch is not working properly, the timer will not continue to the next stage of the cycle... this is a safety feature that does not allow the machine to spin with the lid open...which alleviates the machine throwing water all over your house...not good 😮. Replacing your lid switch is both repair friendly and cost friendly. Below is a link to our video changing lid switch.

      Thanks for checking out the video Tammy, great question! The Timer controls the “Cycle Flow” and continues to move the cycle through the steps. As the internal parts of the Timer begins to wear out...you see the washer stopping at either “Drain or Spin”...
      The Lid Switch is also a key part in the cycle...once you lower the Lid/door...you will hear a click. This click secures the electrical current and sends a message to the Timer to begin the Cycle.
      Also...once the cycle gets to the spin portion, the timer re-communicates with the lid switch to verify that the lid is closed for safety purposes...example: you do not want the washer to be spinning with the lid open...water will fly everywhere 😱
      I recommend purchasing both the timer and the lid switch as they work together to move the washer through the cycle.

    Excellent video. My 18 year old Fridgeraire suddenly stopped draining and spinning. On the regular cycle it stops at a point, then doesn't progress through the cycle. I think it is not draining and when it stops at a particular point- it makes this noise, as if it's trying to move onto the next part of the cycle which comes from close to the timer area. If I move the timer a bit ahead, it continues to agitate but it still never spins. I have tried the other delicate cycle and there, it goes through the cycle but never spins at all. The knob will move from start to end without spinning - all it does it agitate. You can hear it want to do something and you hear some clicks but it won't spin. At the end of the wash, there is always a lot of water left - I am not sure if it is partly draining though since the water is about 6 inches deep always - to the same level at the end of the cycle each time. It must be partly draining since I expect if it didn't drain there would be more water? Any help in the comments from anyone would be appreciated!

      Good morning, we are drinking our morning coffee answering any and all questions for the DIY community.
      Your symptoms are definitely in-line with a faulty Timer however, also in-line with a faulty Lid Switch.
      Our recommendation is to replace the Lid Switch first as it’s a more price friendly part.
      Below is a link to our video showing replacement of Lid Switch.
      th-cam.com/video/1hTRc-_PnP8/w-d-xo.html
      If replacing this part does not fix issue, it is time to replace your Timer. You may want to purchase both parts so you have the Timer handy if the Lid Switch replacement doesn’t fix issue.
      If Lid Switch fixes issue, you can return Timer...or you can replace both parts at the same time. New parts are always a great asset to the continued life of the unit.

      Thanks for the reply, with front load, it’s possible that your door lock mechanism is faulty.
      This can be figured out by listening to the door lock mechanism after starting the cycle. If you hear the door lock mechanism make a clicking sound after the cycle starts, it is locking door & working as designed.

      Terry Sansom Hi Terry. Thanks for checking out the video. It is very possible that the belt was the main problem. As you mentioned, the belt can begin to slip as it ages and stretches out. Replacing the belt was a great choice. As far as the motor, is it making any unusual sounds or grinding noises. Have you noticed any change in tone with the washer? Most of the time you run into your symptoms...your timer has faulted and is no longer receiving and sending the correct signals to all connected parts which in return, stops the cycle at random locations...NO FUN. I would try replacing your timer. Also, I recumbent replacing your lid switch as well because that acts as a safety precaution and will put a hold on the cycle near the rinse/spin portion once it fails. We have a maytag washer and I did laundry as usual, so I left for work and came back hours later and the cycle just completely stopped at the spin portion so my clothes were just sitting in a pool of water. So I unplugged it and tried to reset it, but now my washer won't even turn on, let alone drain the water. I did unplug it for a minute and it did turn on, but only in the "sensing" portion of the cycle (the first step). It won't do anything but just sit there. Hannah King Thanks for checking out the video and sharing your comment Hannah...so sorry you’re having trouble. Something has failed and we need to pin-point which part.
      Try toggling the cycle knob a tiny bit forward past the point that the wash cycle stopped...then push knob in and see if it starts the cycle again. If it does, it can be the “Timer” that has failed which you see in this video.
      The other option “however more likely if the cycle stoped at Spin” is the Lid Switch. The lid switch is very easy to replace and pretty inexpensive.

      Thanks for the question. The water valve has a screen inside each hot and cold connection point where your water lines secure themselves to the machine.
      Over the years, the screens gather dirt and grime and lead to a degraded water pressure entering the machine...weeeellll.... unfortunately this can trip your cycle and cause your cycle to stop.

    Why don't they sell the metal push to release spring clips that are stuck into the end caps of the control panel, separately? Ours are rusted and one broke and now i have to buy the whole endcap, just to get the spring? Or do you know if they do sell them individually? Thanks. Sorry,,was mistaken. I found a sears schematic that shows the clip separate. But come on,,,16 bucks a piece? Insane.

    My washer seems to be having issues draining on certain cycles. In addition, recently when I have put it on spin after it has ran to get rid of the excess water, it will sometimes thump and shake like crazy. Do you know what the problem could be or what I could like for? Thanks!

      Thanks for checking out the video and sharing your experience. You are experiencing 1 of 3 issues...
      * Drain Pump
      * Lid Switch
      * Timer...which is mentioned in this video.
      1. Your Drain Pump is beginning to work intermittently. That little Pump wears out over time and does 1 of 2 things.
      • Fail intermittently
      • Fail completely at any given time
      th-cam.com/video/M2LltDIjNl0/w-d-xo.html
Below is a link to my video changing lid switch
      th-cam.com/video/1hTRc-_PnP8/w-d-xo.html
      3. Your timer is wearing out and beginning to work intermittently during the cycle...leading to the stop & go... replacing your timer may get rid of this issue.

    The problem I'm having is mine stops agitating during the rinse and smoke comes up around the drum. After I turn it off and let it sit and cool off, it finishes just fine. Any ideas? The water inlet valve does need replaced, but I wouldn't think that's causing this. It is an early 90's Amana. I replaced the belt a year ago, when I thought that might have been where the smoke came from. The belt was still intact, but worn.

    • @DIYwithMichaelBorders
      @DIYwithMichaelBorders  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for checking out the video and sharing your comment and experience Sassy Frassy! Its very possible that the belt is begging to wear out and stretch...its kinda hard to really inspect the belt and its tension when installed...since you have already replaced the belt, it should definitely last longer than a year... right haha...one would hope! Kind of a bummer if the belt has already worn out...You might need to put a new belt on it...unfortunately..
      Its also possible that you are experiencing a Drain Pump beginning to malfunction. As you know, that Drain pump is an electrical unit that spins ext rely fast...and can seize over time. Keep me posted

      Michael, For some reason I haven't been getting my notifications. Thank you for responding. It had been shutting down during the rinse cycle, but now it shuts down during the agitation of the wash cycle. I've started shutting it off after it fills, let it sit an hour then it seems to run through the cycle fine. I can hear a rattle sometimes. Could it be the bearings getting too hot? When the belt was replaced, my daughter got ahead of me and had it back together and put back in place before I mentioned wanting to inspect the bearings. I didn't want to pull it back out. It's in a really tight place.

      Susan Francis Washing Machine problems are no fun because of how important they are to us! Since your Cycle is not filling and rinsing, it’s very possible that it’s your Timer which is shown in this video. In addition to that, below is are two video links that shows a possible blockage in the Water Inlet Valve & Hose...we ran into this. Once the cycle got to the point of filling up with water and rinsing, it stopped...and that was because of the clogged Water Inlet Valve & Hose. Check this video out below 😎👍

    My washer stops after after rinse and won’t drain in that cycle. I can turn the timer to spin and it will drain and spin, just not in the same cycle. Confused if this is a timer or lid switch problem. Kenmore 80 series top load model.

    Hey mate, I changed my water pump for my Simpson Esprit 650 but it seem to drain on a smaller load but had something heavier it doesn't seem to drain. So could it be the Timer exactly how you changed your one? I have a feeling it is since I already changed the water pump.

      Thanks for checking out the video! Usually when you run into load differences that alter your drain performance, it deals with the clutch. What might be happening is your clutch is beginning to slip with heavier loads. At the opposite side of the spectrum, your clutch is still performing great with light loads. I have a LTE6234DQ1 Whirlpool DOUBLE STACKABLE COMBO UNIT. First the dryer kept running and wouldn't shut off on it's own. So I replaced the dryer timer the first time I tried to use the washer it wouldn't drain out. It Haas a directdrive pump and it worked ok before I changed the timer on the dryer (yes it is the correct one) . I have also now changed the washer timer thinking the excessive heat may have damaged it. Still not working lid switch sounds ok. All wires in correct place. Any suggestions?

      Thanks for watching & we hope the video helped. It’s very possible that your Lid Switch has failed. In most cases, a failed lid switch will still make that normal clicking sound however the internal parts and electrical sensor that sends that electrical message to your timer informing it that the lid is closed....has failed. A new lid switch may solve your problem.

    Hello again! I read your comment just now, and as I was editing a reply, somehow I seemed to have lost your comment! How odd.. thanks for replying back so quickly in the morning whilst having your coffee! I have a font loader so I am assuming that you instead of a lid switch for a top loader it is the same as the " washer door lock and switch assembly", for a front loader. Also a very strange thing- this morning for no reason, without me filling the small tub for the fabric softner a moderate amount of fabric softner just reappeared on it's own in the little dispensing unit - it was light blue and clean - almost as if I had added some of it just then....I have been overdoing the softner off late- so could it just be a blocked drainage pipe? I'm guessing back pressure is needed for this to happen but maybe it just happens if you leave a lot of water ( currently six inches deep) still in the machine....

    • @DIYwithMichaelBorders
      @DIYwithMichaelBorders  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the reply, door lock mechanism is very possible. Once you turn the machine on and start the cycle, if you hear a clicking sound near the door area, your door lock mechanism is working as designed.

    So I replaced the water valve assuming that was the problem. On the normal cycle only hot water comes out. When I switch to cold it just stops. Switch it to hot and it’s coming out. However it proceeds to wash and once it hits rinse it won’t proceed further. What could that be?

    • @DIYwithMichaelBorders
      @DIYwithMichaelBorders  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching, the valve screens being clogged are the most common cause however since you have a brand new valve and screens, it’s possible that your cold water shutoff valve is not fully open.

    Hi, can you help me? After a power outage while the washing machine was running (right before it hit rinse), it continously stops there. It washes well, rinses a few times, stops at the last rinse and doesn't drain.

    • @DIYwithMichaelBorders
      @DIYwithMichaelBorders  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Luluta lulu Thanks for checking out the video and sharing your experience. You are experiencing 1 of 3 issues...
      1. The power outage may have sent an electrical surge through the system & possibly failed a part...
      * Drain Pump
      * Lid Switch
      * Timer...which is mentioned in this video.
      There are a lot of electrical wiring that feeds inside to all the parts & again, it’s possible that an electrical current went through your system during the power outage that exceeded normal electrical range...thus failing a part... in my opinion this is very unlikely so what I recommend is...unplug in your washing machine completely from the wall and let it sit for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, Plug the washing machine back in and run a test cycle to see if you experience the same issue. If you do, then let’s figure out the next part to focus on...below are the next steps!
      2. Your timer is wearing out and beginning to work intermittently during the cycle...leading to the stop & go... replacing your timer may get rid of this issue.
      3. Below is a link to my video changing lid switch

    heyo . My washer is an Edison by Whirlpool model SM 8525147-A, and it would do this thing where it would start in the fill up cycle, do an agitation cycle, then it would drain and then start to rinse, but at that point it would just keep filling and filling and filling and draining all the water through. I would also hear a grinding buzzing like plastic gears grinding coming from the timer knob. That's what told me that my timer was broken. Well, that and if I advanced it one or two clicks it would resume the wash cycle as if nothing happened.
    After searching hopelessly online and coming up dry on the model number I got frustrated and undid the side screws and opened the control panel, and I saw the timer model number 8542050. I went to the internet and entered the number, 8542050 and BLAM! Pages of listings for the timer!
    I WAS SO HAPPY!!!!
    So, don't make my mistakes, folks: If you can't find the parts for the model number, LOOK AT THE NUMBER ON THE PART ITSELF. That'll get you there 10 times outta 10.
    Also, knowing that I can crack my machine open and fix it myself is a very empowering experience. I recommend everyone tinker with their machines as long as they have down the basic fundamentals of appliance repair. You'll learn a lot!
    Oh, and @DIY With Michael Borders, you don't need to undo the 1/4" screws holding the plastic straps. They're there to hold the control plate and let it fold up and back to expose all the wiring and tubes at once. I learned that as I was pulling her apart.
    Happy Tinkering!

      Johana Sandhoval Hi Johana, thanks for checking out the video. This is not uncommon...you can be experiencing one of these items.
      1. You can possibly have a clogged drain hose...possibly a sock is stuck in the rubber hose.
      2. Belt may have snapped. The belt spins the water pump to drain tub...if it snaps, it won't drain.
      3. Water pump failed...the pump might not be pumping water out.
      4. Lid Switch may have failed. Its possible that the lid switch failed and not sending correct signals to timer to spin / drain properly.

    I have a 70 series Kenmore washer that will only go into the rinse and spin cycles by manually turning the knob which woks only some of the time. My lid switch has been bypassed so it's not that. My hose is clean so i don't think it's that. Does this issue sound like a timer problem? The timer goes all the way through the cycle but when you lift the lid that washer is full of water. Right know i can force the spin cycle by turning the knob to spin and forcing it on. Need some help!!

      1. Although you mentioned you can manually bypass Lid Switch, it’s very possible that bypassing it, it’s not realigning the Timer back to its electronic setting. You may need a new Lid Switch. Below is a video that shows step-by-step process of replacing Lid Switch!
      th-cam.com/video/1hTRc-_PnP8/w-d-xo.html
      2. Your Timer has faulted & no longer guiding the wash cycle through its proper stages. Replacing your Timer may fix your issue.
      In our opinion, we recommend replacing both parts at the same time. The parts can be purchased at ( RepairClinic.com )... this is an awesome appliance website with great low prices.
      Keep us posted! Again, we recommend replacing both parts as they are both tied to your continuation of the wash cycle stages.

      I don't think it's the lid switch because it was already bypass when i purchased it used 3 years ago. I took the front of the washed and even though the pressure tube looked clean I blew in it server times from both ends and then put everything back together. My wife just did the 1st wash load and it worked great although I think this is just temporary. Time will tell.

    Hi Michael, My whirlpool washer as of lastnight filled up with water and began it's wash cycle then completely stops before the timer reaches the rinse cycle reading. The timer and and everything just stops and the machine remains filled with water. No sounds, no humming nothing. If I push the knob in and advance the timer to the next cycle it just repeats itself. The only thing it's doing is agitating and nothing else. Do you think this could be the timer?

      What’s up Christopher, thanks for checking out the video. Great question & the symptoms led us to the lid switch first...we tested the lid switch and found that to work as it should. This then led us to the timer. After replacing the timer, problem solved. Try your lid switch first...there’s a few videos out there that will show you how to test it. Below is a link to our lid switch replacement. Again we would check Lid Switch first & get that replaced if it has failed.

      @frankblangeard8865 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haven't tested it yet. New lid switch is $27.50 so I will definitely try that before buying a new machine. PartSelect has a good video for changing the lid switch. Looks like even I should be able to do it.

    • @DIYwithMichaelBorders
      @DIYwithMichaelBorders  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Frank Blangeard Very cool, it is a friendly repair for sure and won't harm the bank account. If that doesn't work, next I'd try your timer. I'd also verify that you have sufficient water pressure entering the washer through the lines. There is a screen "similar to the screen on sink faucets". That clogged over time and interferes with the water coming into the washer . Please Subscribe to the channel that would be awesome thanks again 😎👍

    • @frankblangeard8865
      @frankblangeard8865 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Already fixed. Another video showed me how to unscrew the two screws holding the lid switch and pull the switch out form under the top. I then used duct tape to permanently close the switch. For some reason the switch wasn't closing and that was the problem. But now that safety feature is gone so I will need to remember not to stick my head into the machine when it is spinning.

      Thanks for watching. Great question and in that case, we would replace Timer first.
      While replacing Timer, we recommend also replacing your Lid Switch. These two parts work together during the cycle and cause make a huge improvement to your machine’s overall performance if replaced and brand new.

    We have a Samsung top load washer that was working fine until started to stopped in the spin cycle and leave the clothes too damp, also I notice that is changing it self the size of the load for example: I put medium load but switch to extra large all the time.
    Hope you can help us to fix this problem, we have no more than a year since we buy the set that's why we want to try get fixed before have to spend on a new machine.
    Thanks in advance!

      Jez Iz Thanks for checking out the video and sharing your experience. Definitely important that we get this figured out together...from the symptoms that you have mentioned lead me to the Timer or the Lid Switch. The Timer controls the “Cycle Flow” and continues to move the cycle through the steps. As the internal parts of the Timer begins to wear out...you see the washer stopping at either “Drain or Spin”...
      The Lid Switch also is a key part in the cycle...once you lower the Lid/door...you will hear a click. This click secures the electrical current and sends message to Timer to begin the Cycle.
      Also...once the cycle gets to the spin portion, the timer re-communicates with the lid switch to verify that the lid is closed for safety purposes...example: you do not want the washer to be spinning with a lid open...water will fly everywhere 😱
      I recommend purchasing both the timer and the lid switch as they work together to move the washer through the cycle.
      To order parts, Go to: repairclinic.com

    • @DIYwithMichaelBorders
      @DIYwithMichaelBorders  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Mabbio
      Thanks for watching Mabbio! We have seen this in the past. There will always be a small amount of water left over in your machine after each cycle however the water will not be visible to you.
      Water remaining in tub after cycle can be caused by a clogged Drain Hose not allowing all the water to exit washer.
      It’s also possible that your Drain Pump itself is wearing out & no longer strong enough to push all water out of Machine.
      We recommend checking your Drain Hose first. Below is a link to our video that we uploaded recently. Definitely check it out!

      john rbaugh Thanks for checking out the video and sharing your comment and experience John. You're experiencing a syphoning problem. It's very possible that the hoses aren't properly installed.
      1. The drain hose might be extended too far down into the home drain
      2. During hook-up, the drain hose might be sealed off or clogged.
      3. Your actual home drain is far below the 30" line and anti-syphoning clip hasn't been installed correctly. The drain hose coming out of bottom of washer should extend up to a level of 30" or higher when exiting home drain.
