It is running at 60 FPS in high settings for Sonic and for Shadow games (the shadow setting on low though, the other settings on high). Very surprisingly smooth experience.
@@politiquementincorrect1984 Sonic Generations is actually running really nicely for me, no complaints besides not supporting 16:10 1280x800! They even improved the camera smoothing so it doesn't give that illusion of stutter the original had even when FPS was locked. I couldn't get Shadows smooth at 60, but it runs fine at 30fps locked for me, which is decent enough considering I'll do my main playthrough on my PC anyways. Just pleased to have a great version of Generations on my deck! Very much missing all my mods, though - over a decade of modding is hard to beat.
@@MB-hq3rv I am surprised that you have to play Shadow at 30 FPS. I installed the game on the SSD, I used no proton (by default), I set eveything in-game on high settings and activated, appart from Vsync off and the shadow setting on low. It runs between 55 and 60 FPS. Appart from on e sequence lasting 3 secondes where the FPS dropped to 52 FPS (act 1). I played 3 acts like that with these performances. Glad I found this video, it's great to know that the game will run pretty well. If you happen to see this, I'd like to ask if there are differences in performance across different versions of the Steam Deck (hopefully that makes sense). I got the cheapest option back when it initially came out, i.e. the one with 64GB of storage, and just got a SD card to hold storage (I don't know game/tech terminology, it was more so my brother who took care of most of this stuff for me. More than likely it should yes. I can do some testing, but it should be around the same. The biggest thing that will affect performance is installing it on a SD Card. I believe that will make it a bit worse.

This might be a stupid question, but when getting this on Steam, does it require an account to access a launcher? I remembered when i tried to get Sonic Superstars on the Steam Deck, but some people in the reviews section are saying it requires an Epic account, which I then got that game on the Switch
@SteamDeckHQ So like, no window(s) pops up to ask, especially when you first got the game? I didn't get the early access, so I'm just waiting for full release date
No. The shadow levels and any other part of this game only drop because of denuvo. That’s it. You’d get consistent best performance if they’d just drop it after a company behind the doors timeframe decision is made. Could be a year or even a few months but if they removed it after they make their initial sales denuvo is supposed to boost and no more after, we’d get the best possible version of the game ever bar none. Hell, same goes for frontiers for the most part. Origins never made sense in the first place. So we just need to have sega remove denuvo and we get solid performance.
@@SteamDeckHQ the Sonic levels don’t really have much in the way of any new assests. Minor tweaking sure but nothing different in any major way from the original that’s more than a decade old now. They’re simply less demanding than the shadow stages which are brand new and built from the ground up. Besides that, regardless of what anyone says, the shadow part is a completely separate game that sega just didn’t want to release as it’s own thing cause they wouldn’t be b able to get gullible idiots to buy a short game for $50-60. If you look at it as it’s a separate game, and it is, it makes significantly more sense that it would be more demanding. Denuvo to my knowledge doesn’t impact framerate of low demanding titles
