Why Labels Want Your Favorite Rappers Dead

- It's no secret that in recent years - more and more rappers are dying, especially young ones with tons of hype and potential. This video may be considered a "conspiracy" - but it touches on a very deep topic that a lot of people are uncomfortable discussing. Jim Jones, a hiphop vet, claimed that rappers have the most difficult job. This is because recently, it's become harder than ever for them to stay alive. Rappers like PNB Rock, Takeoff, XXXTentacion, Young Dolph, have all passed as a result of gun violence. Where as rappers like Mac Miller, Juicewrld, and Lil Peep - had passed from substance abuse. What's weird is tons of rappers who passed were signed to "Empire Records" which os a very strange detail. This video also brings up a few rappers in the space and their thoughts on it correlate perfectly w the conspiracy. Would love to hear your thoughts however.

The sad part of this is it’s probably true because streaming numbers and sales almost always go up after they pass
Factssssss
But let's be real, letting someone make more music for you is in the long term more beneficial.
Like imagine instead of 2 or 3 more xxx, juice world, pop smoke albums we got 10 more. It would make more money for the labels then using them when dead.
Alive artists also help social media engagement which helps sell albums and build Hype.
It makes no sense to want an artist dead unless they're like Michael Jackson and about to retire anyways.
or maybe because these artists spent the loan they were given and still gotta pay it back and after they pass.
@@mxchael_0385 thats exactly what Grade A productions and labels is doing rn thats why ppl go over to listening to juice or other ppl unreleased songs bc the labels arent doing jack shi making up excuses dropping albums wit people that the rapper didnt fw ;/ kinda dumb to me ngl but i dont think there's anything we can do.

I’m glad you made this video because its something I’ve always been thinking about.
this also occurs as a way to phase out a certain type of music they no longer want to promote 🧐
This is so stupid though, when an artist dies it gets so many people into that style that wouldnt have been before. Why would they continue to out out music by these artists if they dont want to deal with their music anymore

Finna make my own label for this
I was JUST talking abt the Empire theory. Way too many of their artists have gotten shot, injured, or have "overdosed" in the past ~5 years for it to be a coincidence.
Literally Peep, X, Juice and Smoke all died year to year, 3 od those being rappers that rapped a lot about their eventual demise while still young, truly an unfathomable coincidence unless something sinister really did play out in the background.
2:24 That is not how you use the word respective. Good content bro, keep it up, lovin it
A bump in sales for 6-12 months isn’t worth losing years of performance money
Oh yes it is bud bud.
@@yomfnmama757With that mindset your bussiness will crash and burn, you think people will be streaming Peep, X, Juice and Pop in 2040 the same way they are now? This generation's attention span is too short and they are gone, they had their time that ended too soon.
Eh, not when you own the artist's likeness in "perpetuity". Once you sign that dotted line, they got your ass forever.
The way I look at it people love to put a face behind the music and if you would be willing to sacrifice that for (like you said) such a minute amount of performance acceleration then you don’t deserve to run a company nor manage an artist. I mean the whole reason you make these rappers famous is to market, and suck as much out of them as you can, ergo killing an artist in the middle of their prime would be ludicrous and mediocre from a business standpoint.

Anyone else remember the icarly episode when spencer faked his death cause it made his art sell better🧐🧐
Also I don’t get why we’ve seen so many rappers that are either on track to be massive (X, Juice, Pop, Von) or established hitmakers (Dolph, Mac, Takeoff, Nipsey) pass away since Peep did in 2017. Before that, I reckon it was just local artists and older vets
Peep proved that death sells, and a dead artist is the easiest one to control.
@@Patrick-pc3vq Do wonder what the connections were made between that and the manner of the deaths of each artist

in the industry… & sadly some of these statements are 1000% accurate // it’s a sick game
Before a rapper dies, they sometimes hate or don't like them. Just as soon as they die: sales skyrocketed and they became missed, loved and the most likeable rappers (most of them only). Short answer is not all die in a coincidence, Pop Smoke accidentally leaked his address and Juice accidentally overdosed himself.
this is so sad
Its been known.... puffy daddy was the 1st to do it with BIG
WE NEED A JUICE WRLD MOVIE
That's why I haven't listened to any new songs I don't already know before they died.
I don't blame the labels for not caring about the artists. Most of these artists don't even care about themselves. Always involved in gangs, drug addictions, always shooting people and fighting for no reason. These artists have a lack of respect for their lives so of course the labels won't care about them.
you sound slow... if they are doing things like that a ACTUAL MUSIC LABEL Who runs in belief with not doing dumb stuff would care for the artists.

@@themanofnoodles It's now racist to point out that a lot of these artists who've died engaged in unhealthy and dangerous lifestyles? I sincerely hope you're joking.
Why should the labels care about these people beyond the money they bring them when these artists don't even care about themselves? Answer that.
@@FloridaJit999rest in piss to the favorite rapper 😂😂😂
The premiums on those policies would be so astronomical on the chance your artist gets killed. The returns wouldn't be worth the risk, theyll just pimp the artists music and legacy.

12:29 that lowkey was a bar and it was fire lmao
The video is exactly right i didn't hear about juice wrld; but after he passed i became I fan of his, Blessed Be.
The real reason is not the profits yes that's a huge reason the greed runs it. But beyond this when a young artist gets big and have allot of influence with the population they can literally change the world by reaching a huge interbational audience. A big artist has more power then a government so the government's also want to kill the artists 💯💯
Vince staples said it straight
The dangerous lifestyle of a rapper is what sells. Labels might hype that aspect up, since there's nothing they can do to stop the rapper. However, once the rapper dies, labels are going to try to ride the hype to make more money by releasing pre-recorded and unfinished tracks and verses. It's not like they wish death for these rappers, it's their own fault and the labels are just making something out of a sad situation.
Might as well make some money for the artists' families, since they're no longer going to be in the picture to provide.
All them rappers have one thing in common along with many others, the same exact way they spoke on records on how they would die, they've actually died. Words have power and when they spoke it on a track it came to life like written words on a paper.
X said: "when i turned 18 i blew out the candles & my wish was to die before 25" he ended up dying at 20

so let's all get out of the labels
Kinda hard to get out of the labels when they're dead.
Most people get into the labels for recognition and fame. Becoming independent is the better path but it means you won’t get the shortcut which many aren’t willing to do. So this will continue on for years to come.
There's a reason why they saying that Gucci Mane's 1017 is cursed. Do your homework on Big Scarr and Slim Dunkin if you think this is cap.
This has being going on for a long time. Like from bob marley to kurt Cobain from nirvana they became worldwide because they died.
also @3:17 you mentioned "7 dead rappers in top10 most streamed albums on Spotify"
it's it's just x twice, juice twice and pop once. rest of 'em travis, drake, eminem, etc. are still alive
even if you say you were talking about albums not artists, it's still wrong
only 5 albums were from dead rappers
Imma listen to more unreleased songs from now on
My hot take: the interview & social media content and beef serves to distract the people from creating alternatives to the industry as it is currently set up. There's always going to be talented musicians, and there will always be the need to make a living. Are we really so powerless to the music industry, or do we just not wanna get up off of bitching on our phones?
Yo idk who the producer you mentioned in the article was but Wicca Phase is more of a singer / rapper and doesn’t really produce. He is the “leader” of gbc and featured with peep on 2 tracks but never produced a beat for him

sorry but this is complete bullshit lol.....not every rapper is tupac who had 400 unreleased songs where massive profits could be made off his death, rappers today dont work like that outside a few like drake and drake is far more valuable alive because he can put out 10 more records. Sure for a month after death the stats shoot up but in a year people dont listen to them like that, the same thing happens when they release a new cd while alive so either u get a one month boom or a 10 year boom, which has more value?
