Lol whoever made the test spelled "souffleur" wrong
"souffler" is a verb (it means "to blow", but it also means, in that context "to prompt"; hence "souffleur" => "prompter")
I got it right only because I was thinking about "souffler la réponse" so I was like "ok if that's like cheating on a test / give the answers then it must be the prompter giving the lines to opera singers 🤔"
I have very basic knowledge of french and my thought was "which one of those sounds like something related to blowing" 😂

Oh, the Mozart one is pretty famous. He used to go play skittles (a kind og bowling game) with frends, for example a guy called Anton Stadler, a very talented basset horn (and clarinet) player. This friendship resulted in the famous Kegelstatt Trio, a Clarinet Quintet and just as a sidenote, a particular Clarinet Concerto...
Man, I wish Chopin composed 24 ballades. His ballades are amazing, they’re what hooked me into classical music in the first place.

Apart from lucky guesses, I only knew answers to 2 of them genuinely. Souffler means whisperer in french and indeed is the name of opera prompter job in french operas. And anyone who has played Sid Meier's Civilization series a few times would know Dido is the queen of Carthage. Though this test is less like classical music test and more like "general knowledge with classical music flair" test.
I only know the ballade one. And twoset got it wrong haha hahhahahahahah

A penny used to be worth a lot. And nowadays, it's literally worth your time to pick up a penny if you calculate depending on average wage.
Mozart composed a piece titled Lick My a$$...
4 years late, but Beethoven did not name it that. It was unfinished, and his friend wrote those words on the manuscript. “Rage Over a Lost Penny” then became the common name for the piece.

Kegelstatt is German for skittles, which was an early form of bowling :) Learned that over the summer from my instructor's listening assignments. I got 16. Hey, as a violist I have to be able to do something 4/5 of the way correct, right? ;)
I'm two years late, but I just wanted to add that Kegeln actually still exists. you can find places in almost every city that offer it. it's more of a team sport though, and there are some fun games you can play. it's something every German kid has done at least once for a birthday party. :D

Darth Fabulous if you were a classical music buff you would want to watch any movies made featuring or are about classical music composers.
Another example: the Karajan question - he was a prominent figure in classical music. It is very easy to be exposed to his albums if you surround yourself in the classical music scene, which you would probably be considered a "classical music buff" if you did and isn't that what the quiz is testing?

The question about the "souffler" in French is a bit strange. It's called "un souffleur" which can be better translated by "a whisperer" but apparently "prompter" is the proper english word for it. It's a job in theatre but i've never heard of it for opera because usually there isn't usually much talking but recitative instead... EDIT. I've just checked and for opera the prompter mime the lyrics and the intention of the conductor which can be hidden in the orchestra pit unseen from the singers

I decided to take the quiz before watching. I got 5 correct.
The clarinet's chalumeau range was among the first things I learned when I picked up the clarinet. I don't know how common knowledge it is among other musicians, but I see that Brett and Eddy answered it correctly without fanfare.
But the majority of the quiz wasn't really fair.
I'm with you @2set. I don't think this is 100% classical knowledge. I'd say about 60% is though, and interrestingly I think at final tally I either tied or you beat me by one. Most of the same first half questions you got right/wrong I did too!! You got the additional of Dennis though, I picked David. On the back half, most you got wrong I got right and vice a versa. All in all, a hard quiz for sure. I would have preferred more directly composer related questions.. number of works in lifetime,, instruments they composed for or played, etc. Sidebar, I totally fell for that Keglestadt trio question .. and I know the piece well, but totally forgot the translation though:p
