I’m not a musician but I keep telling myself that I’m putting on classical music to study but subconsciously I know I’m just going to zone out and listen and get nothing done

This channel is the only place I can go where people like and accept classical music. Whenever people ask me what music I listen too and I say classical they just give blankly stare at me and ask, “why??” Does anyone else understand this struggle??😂
Jupiter the bringer of jollity is overplayed, but I remember seeing a student violinist hear it for the first time. It might be overplayed to us, but someone out there will hear it for the first time and fall in love with it. LOL. Brett is right about the Mendelssohn's concerto for violin, "everyone tries to learn." Canon in D major...I feel your pain.
Question to Brett. My brother is many states away for college. You look exactly like him, and it’s making me think that you’re actually my brother and hiding this channel from me.
Hey Heifetz once said, when asked which violin concerto was the hardest, that it was Mendelssohn's; He said getting that first note, only a couple of bars into the concerto can make you pretty nervous, and that he had seen thousands of performances of it and only few actually got it perfectly in tune, and if you don't play that perfectly the concerto is ruined. I think he was being hiperbolic, but yeah.
I might get hate for this but I find Heifetz' Tchaikovsky is, well, yeah, just him flexin. Way too fast to be enjoyable to me. Gave me whiplash when I first listened to it, because newer recordings (+ Brett's 2 mil Tchaik drop) are all slower than that.
@@Noah-wv4td _"Jazz without improvisation isn't jazz, thats why ragtime largely isnt considered jazz."_ Then you don't consider swing to be jazz, either, because swing bands used arrangements. And I guess jazz musicians can never rehearse, because if they ever play the same tune the same way twice, it stops being jazz. And, of course, it is impossible to record jazz, since recordings never change. Further, the claim is not that the Rhapsody is jazz per se, but that it is jazz in classical clothing, so to speak. Gershwin's background was in Tin Pan Alley and Broadway. The piece was commissioned by the leader of a jazz band, to be performed by that jazz band in a jazz concert. And apparently the opening glissando was an improvisation during rehearsal. Ragtime is not considered jazz because ragtime existed before jazz did. Finally, if you still think the Rhapsody is more classical than jazz, listen to this recording, with Gershwin himself on piano (via piano roll): th-cam.com/video/xTOJXxTypuU/w-d-xo.html
@@Noah-wv4td What you said was, "Jazz without improvisation isn't jazz, ... ." Now you seem to be agreeing that that was a bit too much. Good. Just what "structure" are you referring to? Last I looked, rhapsodies don't have much required structure; not like sonata form or rondo or whatever. What about Ellington's longer pieces, such as "Black, Brown, and Beige"? Are they jazz, or do they have too much structure? Is everything over three minutes automatically not-jazz?

3:33 SOS!! MENDELSSOHN’S VIOLIN CONCERTO IS THE BEST ONE BECAUSE MY SYNPHONY ORCHESTRA is going to play it next weeks 2 rehearsals... gives me pretty hard chills when I hear that song! No, I’m not the soloist. I’m playing the 1. Violin part of it..
Johan Sebastian Bach - Chacone in D minor from Violin partita no.2. BWV1004... you can't posibbly "roast" such perfection! I dare you!!!😏 Especially the part in D major.☺
Jupiter is a really hard song to play especially when you are a 1st violin in the beginning you have to play really short on the top of the bow and it has no paternity in the beginning.
I wish I had seen the question. I would have said one of my all time favorites is “Appalachian Spring” by Aaron Copland. That’s truly underrated I think.
We don’t talk about Suzuki. When I first started playing I was taught Suzuki. But when I went to college my teacher basically made me relearn violin because he hates Suzuki so much.
I can just picture them best buds, growing old on that rocking chair, playing violin on a warm afternoon.

ThornyForZyra yup. did that intentionally lol
Don't you mean SONG? Shame on you for using accurate terminology.
Abhik Mazumder lolol I think an intermediate would say "peice" instead of song, and besides, how do you misspell song?
Haha no need to misspell it since it already looks/sounds really dumb if you say song in the first place!
