Like all German "premium" cars, crazy money for what you get. Don't get me started on the never-ending options you can spec to bump up the price even more!!

      Premium is not for everyone…

Remember the 190 ? When Merc stood for over engineered quality not flashy nonsense

Another new car that's risen to a shocking price!
Of course every brands' prices have shot up in recent years, but particularly in the past year or so...
Firstly I pay the most attention to Mazda and in particular the 6 as they're one of my favourite brands, while I'm (or was) a big fan of Volvo too, so of the more "normal" brands,...
The 6 started at €29,000 in the last few years of the second gen and while it increased to about 32,000 with the release of the third gen, it stayed pretty close to that price in recent years, having "only" risen to €34,000 in recent years, where it stayed 'til a few months ago, when it now starts at €38,000...
(With the mid spec being about €44,000 and the auto only top spec being €51,000 - of course the latter would be available a tiny bit cheaper if they'd let us buy its' "massive" 194hp 2.5L engine with a manual gearbox 😯😂.)
The old Volvo S60 was generally then about the same price in recent years, staying at €35,000 for a long time, until the new S60 which launched with a bigger engine came out at €46,000 about two years ago and while you can't buy them here anymore, they now start at £45,000 in the U.K., which is €52,000...
Now indeed I don't pay that much attention to Mercedes prices, but I'm pretty sure they were quite comparable to BMW prices and indeed glancing at 3 series starting prices, they've gone up a lot in the last two years or so, pretty quickly going from starting at about €38,000, then 43,000 and last time I looked a three series started at around €47,000, however the price of new Mercedes now takes the biscuit!!
Looking at the base C class it's now €59,000, only €4,000 less than the E class!
While the C Class estate is about €1000 dearer than the E Class estate!
Meanwhile last time I checked an S class was PLENTY starting at around €100,000, but now they start at €150,000!
Meanwhile if you have enough more to even consider a Maybach, they're nearly €300,000!
Mostly car manufacturers have as said gotten pretty silly and greedy with their prices and have been pricing normal people out of buying new cars, but I guess Mercedes only make cars for bankers now! 😯😂😐 .

It has gone absolutely INSANE. My sister CX-5 Akera turbo in Australia - a year ago, 53K AUD drive away price.
A year later, all that has changed is wireless charger this year, 60 grand.
But it was cheaper also a couple years ago before sister bought.
What makes it worse is that little creature touches and quality inside are DECREASING. Things like adaptive cup holders are now just holes, many brands stopping gas struts on bonnet, things like that. Look, they will milk this till the end of time. Ukraine, Covid, chip shortage.. They will blame everything but their own greed as the reason. There is no need for Audi interior to look so cheap full of piano black, for example. Even 250K+ RS6. Crazy.

Nice car but a little flashy inside and like Audi it’s mean with the little important extras for a car in that price range. In 2009 I bought a Passat Highline estate in black. When I called to my partner’s home her brother said ‘’jeeez Dave bought a hearse’’ and first time I dropped by to see an uncle, when he opened his hall door he said ‘’oh good god, I thought Larry Massey had come for me. Great video as usual 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

    Cool video bud as always.
Nice looking car but I’m currently driving a big diesel estate which was great 8 years when I bought it with its big tank and 650 miles range
Not now when it’s £143 to fill it up, I’m only doing short journeys now and it’s age means I’m liable for congestion charge when going into my city centre in Glasgow.
Will need to look at a PHEV version
Oh wait electricity is expensive too
    Think I’ll buy a bike
    🙊😜🤭🤪

Sales of diesel cars have fell through the floor so it's going to be interesting how long manufacturers are going to make these.

While I'm not a fan of diesels, ANY car with a manual gearbox is much better!
It really sucks that 99% of manufacturers have seemingly put a hard cap of not selling cars with more than a 2.0L engine in a petrol and around a 2.2L in a diesel, while with certain models, they won't sell you a manual gearbox, no matter what size the engine is!
For example, outside of the starting diesel in each car, you can't buy a BMW 3 series or Peugeot 508 with a manual box, nor a 5 series with a manual box...
While basically all of the limited number of manufacturers that do offer a manual in particular higher power cars, will favour the automatic, by giving the manual too long gear ratios Vs the automatic...
For example, for years manufacturers were able to make good revvy, 4,5 and 6 speed manual cars, however supposedly even the seven speed manual available in a handful of Porsche models and also the six manual available in other models are too long geared compared to the 8 speed automatics.
The Ford Mustang which is still available with a six speed manual thankfully, however after its' new 10 speed manual came out, Ford sabotaged the manual by lengthening its' final drive, to lower its' acceleration!
The likes of the Alfa Romeo Giulia is only available as an automatic in most places, but apparently the manual available for it in Italy is so bad, Chris Harris who normally loves manual cars, could barely stomach speakijg about it saying, "I drove the manual Guilia recently - don't ask!!", then made a grimace...
Of course in theory, Toyota are keeping larger manual engines available, however the new Supra is so bloody dear here most people can't afford it and the new manual version isn't available here yet and the few thousand cheaper it'll surely be, will hardly make a difference...
Meanwhile they're not building enough of the new GR86 and can only sell it for about two years, unless they can get around some silly new European regulations - you can't buy the new GR86 here yet and might not be able to at all, as the entire U.K. two years "allocation" seemingly sold out in 40 minutes!!
All in, many manufacturers are seemingly trying to kill off manual gearboxes and most people are either too quiet say something about it or believe the marketing B.S., that they're getting a more "luxurious" car by buying an automatic!
Personally I'll never buy anything other than a manual petrol saloon or sports car, but that pool is getting very small!! 😯😐 .

So you buy this car, the first time to try to fill up you step on spilled diesel and pick up the filler nozzle and get diesel on you hands. So getting back into your new smelling car and find the expensive smell is over powered by the fumes from your shoes and hands. Really, diesel is great for tractors and commercial vehicles not for expensive status symbols.

Mark. Thank You. However Merc tries the C Class will never be a 3 Series. The Touring is the benchmark. The C Class, like so many Mercs, all a bit 'Bling'.

All Mercedes’ Estates look like a Hearse in black, don’t they? What is going on with the interior on that though? Orange and black two tone leather is a bit off the wall. Mercedes seem to be going for the whacky look. The front profile looks quite smart.
