The colour is only an idication that it is a young swan and not a full adult. How young you can guess, by its size. Id say Sarahs estimation was on point. Interestingly plenty of mute swans carry the immutabilis mutation which results that they don't change colour in adulthood. They already start of as white swans with fleshy feet and beaks. You can recognize the mutation even in adult swans. They still have fleshy/pink feet still in adulthood. If a swan doesn't carry the mutation it has black feet all his life. The beak turns fleshy in adulthood.
You can build this kind of trust if it's been around you from a cygnet, but swans are not angels, trust me. Swans are assholes. They are large and the cobs (males) are defensive as hell. The best place to be if you aren't part of its 'flock' like this person is... is a distance away. They are beautiful, but they're still wild animals. and they can actually really hurt you. The only thing that's a bigger asshole than a swan is a Canada goose.
@@BellsofNevermore With regards to canada geese I wouldn't say they are bigger assholes than swans. They aren't as defensive as how swans are. Swans will kill for their cygnets and they can sometimes be dictators by forcing EVERY goose and EVERY swan out of their lake when their wives are nesting. Canada geese do shit and hiss quite a bit yes but you can build friendships with them and that's what I've done, the canada geese at my local lake are very friendly beings to humans. One is very aggressive but canada geese are nowhere near as territorial and nor do they take the extreme lengths that Swans do. They WILL still do anything for their children though like swans and ducks will and literally any parent will. Of course you're entitled to your opinion but I think geese are the top of the charts in my personal opinion as ducks are savage merciless rapists and some swans are dictatorial and vicious killers. Thankfully MY swan wasn't! It was a very friendly chap. It's been relocated to a swan sanctuary since June 2020.
@@b1njjj95 Be careful tho, this juvenile is clearly not a wild one, he was mostlikely raised by this man, that's why he's so cozy with him. If you try to pet a wild adult one, be sure to befriend him first, earn his trust else you'll scare him for good :D

Wild creatures need to retain their natural instincts, keeping a safe distance from humans and remaining on or near a river bank so they can swim away quickly when danger threatens. Not all humans are kind and respectful, alas, and dogs off the leash are totally unpredictable. On my travels along Oxford's waterways I've come across two geese and a duck with one wing trailing on the ground - and reached the conclusion that uncontrolled dogs were the cause of their wing injuries
If the swan baby wanted the human to stop, they would be attacking lol. Swans can be very aggressive birds, so by laying still and comfortable like this, the swan shows that they’re enjoying it and feel relaxed and safe :)
I've never heard a swan revving up its engine after waking up before, thanks for this informative vid.
Bro became a car 💀
Power up! :D
That was a loud fart.
He sounds like a chainsaw.

Agreed
Bro woke up the Chainsaw Cobra chicken.
That swan is still a young Cygnet.
You can tell the age by how white or grey the feathers are
Between 1and 2 years old.

I've never seen such a docile swan! 🤔🦢wow
Judging by how grey he was, I’m betting this swan was only a juvenile.
I am so jealous of you!! Swans are so cute, they are real angels xx

This swan is very cute, at Lake District, I got the swan some food and it let me stroke him while he was eating the food
Never knew swans purred like cats.
Looks like they really trust you :D

Hello brother
Not for petting - wild birds - damage to oils, feathers.
