My guilty pleasure movie is Mamma Mia. Is it "good?" No. Do I watch it at least 3 times a year, sing along, and find my favorite extra in the background? Yes. Love the castle! This puzzle is so cute!
I did a Game of Thrones and a Paris 4D puzzle. Both had a regular rectangular jigsaw puzzle of a sepia toned map as the bottom layer. Then you build the more colorful foam map (just the core areas) on top before adding the castles and buildings. They were fun but not something I would buy for myself.
Always look for Hidden Mickeys in any Disney images. 😊 There is a hidden Mickey in the smoke from the train. I saw it when you were building the textured greenery.
something i think is bad but i still love to watch is gilmore girls. like I can see so many flaws with it but it was a very comforting show to me so I rewatch it every now and again
I think it's just too simple, like the puzzle pieces (the 2D ones) aren't very bright and the 3D pieces are just... Basic? They don't have much details, I really think that even the original price was overpriced, the only unique thing is that it was only sold inside the parks (and even as a foreigner I know that things get double priced inside the park). I would rather buy other puzzle with more pieces or more unique with the 125$, because for me that's a lot of money lol, I would be able to buy ~13 puzzles with 1000 pieces (doing the currency between USD and Real), and this not including taxes and shipping. The puzzle is really for disney enthusiastics, I am happy with any puzzle that has all it's pieces lol and more space to put them together, cause I can't do the big ones with so little space inside my apartment
Oof, I'd be peeved if I paid $300 for a puzzle and it peeled up like this one did! The foam did look super satisfying to put together though. Was so excited to see a new video from you to watch over breakfast :) Thank you as always for brightening my day! (Castle)
but it's a $40 quality product and never was a $300 quality thing... that's just the price silly collectors pay for it if they didn't pick it up at launch and decide they can't live without it.
last christmas a relative got me the harry potter one and i really enjoyed it. you get to put together the actual plastic models, the castle looks great, and there’s layers of puzzle. the second one has the foam but the first layer is just smooth like a regular puzzle and it was fun to put together
It would have been really cool if they made it with lights and that you could add actual water to the areas where there would be water etc to make it more 4D
so excited to watch this. your videos give me a feeling of "let's get stuff done" so they're perfect for background enjoyment while working from home. edit: i love your nail polish a lot.
I haven't done a puzzle of a castle but I have done a "4D" puzzle. It was fairly easy but was fun and my students were impressed. :) . My favorite puzzles are the cheap personal photo puzzles my kids give me. I love putting them together again and again to see their sweet faces. P.S. The 4th D in geometry means dimension through space. I'm guessing, however, that a Disney puzzle may be mean length, width, depth, and the dimension of time since Disneyland has been the happiest place on earth for so many years that it's a lovely childhood memory for many people.
I love that you had fun doing the Disney puzzle! I had fun just watching you! The castle is the only piece I would have remembered where it went. 🤪 it’s been about 35 years since I have been to Disney World .
CASTLE It's about time you INDULGE into your happiness, regardless of the price! I am so glad you thought the outcome was worth it! Happy for you!! I " yearn before I buy", too!! Each of us has our own happiness! After Harry Potter next year...maybe a larger quantity of silohuettes in a wooden puzzle??
I think the 'colours may vary' thing is due to how things are produced in the factory. Eg they have the blue moulds with the blue plastic injection material, but then they switch the moulds to 'yellow' and change the injection material to yellow too but there is still residual blue in the production line. So the first few yellow parts come out blue until the yellow propagates. That would be my guess. Also castle.
Castle. Definitely thinking it reminded me of the game of LIfe too, right before you said it. The cityscape 4D looks interesting along with the Potter one.
I have one of these of Manhattan. It has three layers. The first is regular cardboard puzzle with a picture of the island before anything was build on it, then you do a second layer of modern Manhattan on top with foam pieces, and then lastly buildings on top of the foam.
I have been to Disney once, and it really was one of the happiest days of my life, the castle is also my favourite, when you see it for the first time, time stands still... I read books that I know are not the best written, but gives me so much joy!! It's my guilty pleasure. Loved this video Karen, you are one if the best parts of Sunday 😉
When you said $300 I assumed it was wood pieces or some really nice thick cardboard. I was not expecting non-unique foam pieces. Is the $300 the after market price? Did it retail for that, do you know?
I assume that it ended up being $300 because the Disney second-hand market is kind of absurd, especially when you get into parks-exclusive merchandise. There’s an entire industry based on reselling Disney Parks merchandise. Things like this would only get a very limited stock released on Disney’s website, so the only place you can get it would be the Parks. I’d imagine back in 2013, if this puzzle sold in the park for $40, on eBay it would sell for at least double the price. That price would have only risen due to time, being out of print, and the fact that we are in a puzzle shortage.
@@KarenPuzzles ahhhhh.... that makes so much more sense... I was assuming it retailed for 300 (It didn't sound impossible to me because I know how insanely the price items for stores inside the park). But 40 sounds much more reasonable for the frankly lackluster quality and lack of effort in general for the details..
Karen here’s a video idea, I think it would be fun to see you do a puzzle upside down, like if the actual image is face down and you work from the shapes of the pieces instead of the image itself, so the whole time your only looking at the back of the pieces and then at the end you could flip it to see the whole image together 😊. I don’t know if you would joy this or if you even think it’s a good idea but I thought I’d mention it, have a nice day ☺️
But she has already done puzzles where she can only see shapes. I think the only fun/different thing about this would be the surprise of the finished image.. :/
To me it looks like it’s for young kids and a parent to work together to finish the puzzle. The large puzzle pieces and the plain plastic buildings for the kids and the smaller puzzle pieces for the adult, a project to share together.
Thanks for sharing your gift experience. The castle is the cutest. I have not done a 4d puzzle. Not sure if I will as I'm not fond of foam piece puzzles.
I'm so excited you got this puzzle! This is the number one puzzle I've been lusting after for years and I don't even know why. I've just never been able to justify the price + postage to Australia though! You have helped me calm my frenzied regular ebay checks and admirations by watching you complete it, haha. Great video!!! :)
Its so nice to see you doing a puzzle just because you love it, after all the challenges you've given yourself this year. It's a cute puzzle, just a pity it wasn't made to a higher standard. It did look satisfying when you popped the buildings into place though! I guess my 'not such great quality' thing would be Agatha Christie books! I read a lot of different stuff but ive been coming back to them since my early teens! I know they are far from being great literature, but I love them anyway and wouldn't part with a single one.
Well you hook me again, not being too much of a puzzle person! It is definitely getting me to think more of making my own sculpted dimensional puzzle out of fine art paint and how to cut the pieces after dry, by hand, since I have no clue how to cut them. Question: have you ever made your own puzzle? And which is your favorite so far? I am glad to hear your comments about color since I use a lot of bright colors in my paintings. I have been trying several paintings out in a digital puzzle to get the feel of which ones are the better ones based on the colors. It is great to see the sped up timelapse and hear all your comments. Code: Castle
I love that you QUICKLY mention you MIGHT get the Harry Potter puzzle and have the disclaimer that you would buy it second hand so she doesn't get any more money. Mad respect
If it's like the 4D puzzles I've done (New York, the U.S., Stockholm, etc), the fourth dimension refers to time. The buildings are numbered and come with a separate map, which shows a timeline of when they were constructed. So if you put it together according to the instructions, you put the buildings in place in order of when they were built. Also, I always pop the white pieces out before starting the puzzle. I personally find it easier.
Since there seems to be a little confusion in the comments, I want to clarify that this puzzle originally retailed for $40 when Disney sold it in 2013. The prices I mention in the video are what resellers on eBay are charging, since you can only get it secondhand now: ~$300 for an unopened puzzle and ~$125 for an opened puzzle.
Some people don't understand how collectables and ebay work. The good stuff is always a seller's market. Rare Disney items are top tier.
I saw that city puzzle (complete) at a thrift store for $5 and I thought it was too cheesy the 4D theme and left it. I had no idea about the brand, urrgh!

@Brian Cairns well, I would posit that all jigsaws are 3D, taking in length, width, and indeed the time it takes to build them.

I would have just placed the buildings on without removing the excess foam pieces so the puzzle would've been flat
@@analuisa1214 just in case, Karen pinned a message. It was sold by Disney at 40$ and now it's reselling secondhand at 125 used and 300 brand new
Disney and puzzles!!!!!???? I love it!!!!
Karen you are so talented and cuuuute I can't handle it!!!! Queen of the castle that is my heart for sure
last christmas a relative got me the harry potter one and i really enjoyed it. you get to put together the actual plastic models, the castle looks great, and there’s layers of puzzle. the second one has the foam but the first layer is just smooth like a regular puzzle and it was fun to put together
Mermaid 🧜♀️ 🧜♂️
I just started doing puzzles and love your videos!! I agree 👍 with the organizing with colors vs shapes!! Still impressive and fun!!
YAS!! I just saw your post on Instagram for this and I am super stoked to see your video! I am also excited to see how the puzzle comes out!
It would have been really cool if they made it with lights and that you could add actual water to the areas where there would be water etc to make it more 4D
ALSO ALSO. I hope I can visit Disneyland and the Castle someday!
My Christmas gift for myself, from myself...
shes living the life tho lol. karen dont care, she wants a puzzle, she gets a puzzle
That is such a a mood
so excited to watch this. your videos give me a feeling of "let's get stuff done" so they're perfect for background enjoyment while working from home.
edit: i love your nail polish a lot.
CASTLE
It's about time you INDULGE into your happiness, regardless of the price!
Interesting!
ugh i love your channel queen the puzzle world is your castle and the rest of us just live inside it
The moat detail for the castle is cute!
Castle. Definitely thinking it reminded me of the game of LIfe too, right before you said it. The cityscape 4D looks interesting along with the Potter one.
Adding 3D elements to a 2D puzzle obviously adds up to 4D so they named it accordingly. This totally makes sense.
“... that you insert onto the map, so that it becomes........3D?” I spat my water out when I heard that 😂😂
Castle, love bird puzzles with vivid colors!!!
I loved your note on the Harry Potter 4D puzzle about JKR 👏🏼
You make puzzling fun, thanks for sharing!!! 🧩
The Castle looked cool with the moat running through it. Thanks for sharing, Karen, and have a wonderful day:)
When you said $300 I assumed it was wood pieces or some really nice thick cardboard. I was not expecting non-unique foam pieces. Is the $300 the after market price? Did it retail for that, do you know?
I think it originally sold for $40 🙂
I assume that it ended up being $300 because the Disney second-hand market is kind of absurd, especially when you get into parks-exclusive merchandise.
It's so satisfying to watch you pop those pieces into place
Lovely castle. Thanks for a great video.
@@sihisihississa-5748 exactly that would be fun!
To me it looks like it’s for young kids and a parent to work together to finish the puzzle. The large puzzle pieces and the plain plastic buildings for the kids and the smaller puzzle pieces for the adult, a project to share together.
It was so relaxing watching the pieces go in
That is a cute and colorful puzzle with a "castle". Happy puzzling Karen!
I like the disney thomas kinkade puzzles. Great way to get disney art in your house without spending like $200
4D puzzles is so interesting! Hope you do more ☺️
Well you hook me again, not being too much of a puzzle person!
I haven’t been to Disney yet, but when I see that castle I might scream... and faint... probably at the same time.
