      Power through? To what end?
If it had been a higher quality puzzle with more unique pieces, yes.
But the way that puzzle was built, maybe a team of people working together building rows could have done it as they could encourage each other.

Well, you started with an expectation that you wouldn't complete it, so right out of the gate, we knew you wouldn't do it. I thought maybe you'd just go through it, even if each didn't fit perfectly - half the battle is attitude, lol. But you were honest about how you felt and that was all that mattered. In the end, if you dont enjoy it, then why do it? So I am glad you stopped the impossible!

As a blind person who happens to be a puzzle enthusiast, your struggles in this video brought me so much joy. Because I am blind, all pieces of every puzzle always look the same to me. All the same color all the time. Finally I’m not alone and struggling! The strategies that you used to put this puzzle together is exactly how I put all of my puzzles together. I just try pieces over and over and over again until pieces fit together and then sometimes I have to rearrange them. I am sorry though that you struggled so much and it was very frustrating for you. Don’t forget that you are an amazing puzzler! Keep up the great work!

    • @Iwasneverevenhere
      @Iwasneverevenhere 4 ปีที่แล้ว +114

I was just thinking that with how poorly made this is, you could probably solve it with (literally) brute force - the pieces are so similar that you can just take the first piece that has roughly the right shape, force it in there, then move on to the next one. (basically doing it wrong on purpose)
Horrible solution for a horribly designed puzzle.

This puzzle seems like a serious missed opportunity for a good whimsy-cut puzzle with pieces shaped like ketchup bottles, tomatoes, apples, hearts, crosses, all manner of red things. It would have been a wonderful keepsake and probably a collectible. Instead, they really blew it by making it unimaginative, cheap, and impossible.
I've only recently gotten into jigsaw puzzles, the whimsy-cut wooden ones with 400+ pieces ... and I'm disappointed that the only one I've given up on was the Clemens Habicht color gradient globe. I have an extremely low tolerance for sorting before I start in, and that puzzle demands a full sort. Also, half of it is green and blue, my least favorite colors. It seemed like a perfect match for me, and I can do challenging puzzles well. But there was no artwork, no design, nothing on it but false color matches that seemed "close enough" but still too far apart for me. (I have really, really good color vision, so even adjacent pieces seemed like they were a mile apart to me in hue.)
If CH put out a spherical globe puzzle with actual artwork screened onto it, I would be in absolute heaven. I love the feel of the plastic pieces, I love how neatly they snap together, and I otherwise adore full-on 3D puzzles like the Bepuzzled ones (although all but one have way too few pieces to satisfy me). But that color gradient globe invariably ended up with me dumping the pieces out on my tablecloth, feeling like I was undergoing Chinese water torture for ten minutes, and then I put them right back into the box. I should have spent the money on a good Liberty or Nautilus wooden puzzle.
TL;DR -- Serious missed opportunity by Heinz for a whimsy-cut puzzle, and I crap out on the CH color globe every single time because it has no design on it.

I so understand your decision. Impossible was my attempt to do a 1000 piece ghost crab on a beach. It had the crab, a bit of sand and about 800 pieces of different shades of white. I gave up trying every single piece. Enjoying your channel very much. Greetings from 🇩🇪

I ran into a similar situation when attempting my one puzzle when I got back into puzzling earlier this year. It's the movie poster for Jaws. While not all of the pieces are the same, the edges are all solid black and often times I would find several pieces that would appear to fit together. Also, the sky (outside of the title) was 81 pure white pieces that were also all cut very similarly. I'd get a section of the sky together and then run out of pieces that would fit the next space. While the puzzle isn't probably impossible, it got so frustrating that I had to give up on it. I did box it back up with the edges/borders and title/word pieces already separated, but I just needed to move on to some of the other puzzles that I got.

Karen. I hadn’t worked on a serious jigsaw puzzle since my first year of college over 40 years ago. Because of you, I have purchased six jigsaw puzzles that I liked from your channel. I just did the first one. I did the silver Krypt. It was so much fun because there was a decent amount of variation. My friends thought I was crazy, but the interior circle on the Krypt was so rewarding. I agree with you that this puzzle is just cheap quality and terrible design. Keep up the awesome work. FYI, the Krypt was easier when I copied the key sheet and marked pieces off with pink highlighter.

This actually did seem truly impossible! I can’t believe you even tried as much as you did. There was a certain point where I wondered if you were laughing or crying. I love watching you complete puzzles but I will never enjoy seeing you get this frustrated. I hope you found something much more fulfilling to do on this filming day to cheer yourself up. Can’t wait to watch more of your videos! ❤️❤️❤️

Impossible, indeed! It's a good thing you quit for your sanity, plus that puzzle is from the depths of hell.
As to your question, yes I've given up on a couple, but it doesn't mean I'm done with them. I put them back, assembled in their boxes so I can try them another day.

A month ago I gave up on a 1000 piece puzzle (the picture called "Girl with a Pearl Earring". Beautiful picture, but except for the girl, the background was solid black and about half of the puzzle. The problem is that (except for the edge) EVERY piece was exactly the same basic shape (2 knobs and 2 openings), with very slight size differences. I got the picture completed, and the background begun, when I realized that my time was not worth it. You're welcome to the puzzle if you want it!

I 100% don’t blame you for not finishing this impossible monstrosity. I have a puzzle that’s been on my table for a couple of weeks now that I might give up on. My mom got it for me for my birthday, and it’s made based on a photo of my cats. I really want to do it to have the completed photo. But it’s really hard because my cats are both black so it’s a lot of one color, and also the pieces are very loose fitting.

i’ve only given up on two puzzles! the first one was one of those landscape puzzles where 2/3 of the picture was a solid blue sky and the rest was grass with a tiny house in the middle. the second one was a 2000-piece puzzle i started when my cat was a kitten. he kept stealing pieces and ran all over the puzzle and messed up the pieces that i had sorted, so after a couple of hours of extreme frustrationi just packed it all up and threw the box in the back of my closet. it’s still there almost 2 years later haha!

As a kid I got a 1000 piece puzzle of a tiger, because they are my favorite animals, but the issue with that puzzle was that the image was glittering/reflecting and everything except for the tiger was snow, so all pieces changed color depending on the light and you had no image to look after. On top of that every piece connected to every other piece and it really was impossible to do (at least for me as a kid). Unfortunately my mom threw it away, so I could not find out if grown up me could have done it and because of my memory I will not pay money for this puzzle just to try it.
Thanks for you videos, I really enjoy watching them ❤
