- Hurricane Milton crashed into Florida’s Gulf Coast near the Siesta Keys as a powerful Category 3 storm with winds gusts reaching more than 100 miles-per-hour and a storm surge over 10 feet high in some areas. Tornadoes also ravaged the region, damaging buildings and leaving more than three million without power. NBC’s Tom Llamas reports for TODAY.

The stadium has tent like roofing ...WHY would anyone think that would be a good shelter? What did I miss?
The roof was a lightweight, but firmly attached structure. The lightweight material tore and blew away, but the supporting structure is still there. I believe that the dome shape of the roof was supposed to deflect the wind and rain, but the lightweight material flexed and tore. Thank goodness there weren’t a lot of people inside.
Why would anyone turn a giant tent into a shelter for a hurricane?

I am not saying this with a bad intention. But this isn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. I am kinda surprised. I am taking it away from the people who are there. I know it has to be tough. I just expected it to be a lot worse than this. It is a relief it is not as bad as they were expecting it to be.

As bad as this storm was, I was expecting it to be much, much worse. It looks like the area will be cleaned up within a few months, and things will get back to normal pretty quickly.

The tornados popping up during these hurricanes are the more deadlier extremes that we see imo.
They got the storm surge wrong by about 11 feet. Ended up just being some wind and rain. 🤷♂️
