He's not the strongest character in the Invincible universe, he *fights* the strongest character in the Invincible universe, on entirely equal footing (except that he can't fly - but i don't think they really bring it up so I guess it doesn't matter), and he loses. He's second strongest for sure, although id say that place is also contested by Allen, Nolan and Mark edit: im not talking about Mark as he is at the end of the series, ie Prime/Emperor Mark, as thats at the very end of the series where the story ends: why on earth would anyone assume that End-Of-Series Mark is the one I use for strength comparisons against characters who die before the end of the series?? He's irrelevant at that point, the story has concluded, all the opponents we're talking about are long dead (except if the conversation is about Allen I guess, then in that case talking about end-of-series Mark & Allen would be relevant cos *potential spoilers*)
@@iainrickwood2623 you are kinda wrong, *spoiler* mark was almost as strong as thragg, and he was REAAALLYY young at the time, but still put up a fight and survived, 500 years into the future, prime invincible isn't getting beaten by no one, Mark Claps
Machine Head hiring battle beast to beat them up is lowkey one of the funniest comic book things I've ever seen. It's the literal equvalent of using a nuke to kill an ant.
A team is always a double-edged sword. A good functioning team can provide reliable backup, but it can easily be turned into a physical and emotional liability.
This is a weird scene to think that about, because his team mates showing up saved his life and didn't hinder his fight in any way. Battle Beast was going to pubstomp him no matter who showed up, and without his team there to take out some of the smaller threats and annoy Battle Beast into leaving, Mark 100% would've died.
Oh yeah, Battle Beast is another caliber entirely. If he hadn't been there, would've been a bit more cut and dry fight, with good team building action.
@@Blobbyo25 Yep, Battle Beast nearly butchered another viltrumite who was considerably stronger than Omni-Man. And he would've won that fight if he didn't cripple himself to make it an even playing field.
I love the subtle purr BB did at @2:27 because he actually got excited and thought he finally found someone that was gonna give him the hard fight he’s been looking for!
Battle Beast was capable of fighting Thragg, the most powerful Viltrumite, 1:1 and intentionally gave himself a handicap so he could have a fair fight. Their fight lasted days and Thragg barely won. Also Battle Beast thanked him for finally granting him death against an opponent worthy of killing him.
Does the tentacle guy have some sort of super-durability? Because invincible put him face first halfway through a stone wall, and then used him to beat down dollar-store electro. Best case scenario, he should be in critical condition, if not dead
@@thatoneantoid51 He has an alien parasite in his stomach that fused together after an accident. They work kind of symbiotic (like Venom, but less cool). The thing is that the parasite actually gets along and wants to protect the guy. Eventually the guy gets in a position where he loses his partner (the electric guy) and needs more power so he allows the symbiote to take control of more of his body. He becomes strong enough to fight of Invincible (after he had trained, and got older, and became A LOT stronger then he is in the series) and other powerful Supers. After he was defeated he was afraid of losing his mind, so he reverted the symbiotic connection to a less degree and became less powerful but kind of a good guy sometimes.
This is why animation is better for a TV series than live action. I'll never understand why so many people want everything to be real people when it will be never be able to portray superheroes with this sort of power and destruction.
zack snyder has a good way of capturing destruction and speed scaling seen by various films if it was captured like that i could see it see it being a win if it was portrayed correctly
Real quick, is it ever explained how basically psychic kingpin got a hold of what is essentially galactus? Because it’s weird he just had battle beast on speed dial
From the comics, Battle Beast's real name is Thokk and he's viewed by his people as an almost messianic figure who brought peace to their world. However, he became addicted to fighting and left to seek out challenging opponents. Besides his masterful fighting skill, Thokk's physical abilities are at least on par with a Viltrumite. He has vast superhuman strength, speed, stamina and durability and can stand toe-to-toe with the mightiest opponents in the universe. Besides that, he also has a daughter who shares her father's love of combat.
It isn't really that Thokk is addicted to fighting, more so that he is cursed to live forever until he finds someone capable of killing him, thus why he is constantly fighting to find a worthy opponent.
DC never really figured out how to really make superman. Invincible proves it. When your hero is that strong normal enemies don't work. Like in Justice League steppenwolf or whatever his name is was lame as soon as Superman gets there. Invincible does the best one of the best jobs at finding creative ways to find good opponents for Mark.
When I first saw this I thought Nolan was using it as a teaching experience for mark, which is why he didn’t step in. But after reading the comics I’m thinking Nolan knew who battle beast was and knew he would see him as the only thing worth his time there and kill him easily.

@Bryan Maclean Omni-Man will die. Don't get me wrong, it'll be one helluva fight, but Battle Beast nearly soloed a significantly stronger viltrumite, named Thragg, in the comics. And BB doesn't have a healing factor either, unlike viltrumites. For a lil' extra context, Thragg is quite capable of killing an experienced Invincible and heroically-inclined Omni-Man duo - if they don't have back-up help. Still, it would be one helluva fight. If Omni-Man worked with Invincible for it, they might have a fair shot.
Considering battle beast had one of the most epic fights in fiction ever with thragg this is almost hilarious to see him here while Mark is still at level 2 of his superhero career 😂

Battle Beast could've been the main villain of this series and that would've been fine. But the fact that he's a minor character who is so freakishly powerful that he brutally defeats nearly every hero and then just walks away is simply awesome!

So this dude's a robot who has such advanced AI with his microchip he can predict the future, but he has to say out loud "carry the two" while counting. I love it.
Omni-man's actions here are so interesting, because he had to know that that z-list guardians squad couldn't do anything but die alongside his son, but a part of him clearly wanted to help Mark. But he also wanted to test him, but it's so interesting that when Mark got his stomach cracked open like a crab leg he didn't intervene. We know that they're not actually invincible, and I think a part of him was afraid that he couldn't win while another part wanted to teach Mark a lesson.
Pretty close to that big because mark and dinosaurus were able to beat some dude from another dimension who’s name was Literally Omnipotus and was actually damn near Omnipotent because he had drained his entire home dimension of energy, and mark still lost against thragg like twice, so bb probably would lose against true darkseid but he stands a good chance at defeating darkseids avatar/the versions we usually see in the dcau
that’s why i can’t bring myself to hate her yet, she has to have some underlying reason for the weird tonal shift in that last ep. either the writers just completely butchered her character last minute, or there’s something else about her that’ll be revealed in s2
Battle beast would be enough to defeat literally all of those heroes and villains combined at once against him and that could make a little of competition for him.
Usually when Michael Dorn voices a character in a show, they give said character the Worf treatment and turn him into a glass cannon. It’s really satisfying to hear a voice as epic as his go with a character who is actually as badass as he looks.
I kinda feel for Battle Beast in a way. Imagine being so OP that you take a job just so you can fight a baby viltrumite in the hope that you might get some semblance of a challenge. That is like living in a world of ants and the closest thing you can find to a peer is a 2 year old.

I just want to know what made battle beast agree to work with/for machine head in the first place. It's like the penguin hiring Darkseid to mess with rival gangs.
Allow me to introduce my goons! This is Tim, our explosives expert. Bill, the sniper. Wallace, the close combat specialist. Azazel, the literal Angel of Death. And last but not least, Bob, the getaway driver.

Perhaps it could even shift the blame for murdering the old Guardians from him to Machine head and his henchmen. He couldn't possibly believe they could make a difference for Mark's survival
I figured it was both, if it's just Titan and Mark there, Battle Beast gets bored and plays 'How many pieces can I make this Viltrumite before it stops twitching?'. With the rest of the guardians there, he spreads out his pummelling juuuust enough that Mark survives the final blow

Scenes like this make me think maybe Omniman has a point- Working with a team just makes Mark's job harder.
Harder to live.
The irony is that Mark's team saves him, but only beause BB gets so disappointed in the fight he just leaves.

This scene was done so well. You could feel the weight behind every punch battle beast gave.

@@FredericoASousa what's his deal?
