UPS 10 Point Commentary Training #1 (Clearing Intersections) 2022 UPDATED

  • Let's train together!
    I'm currently training to be a UPS Package Delivery Driver. My train of thought it to not take in all ten points at one time, rather one at a time until the words are engrained in my head. While listening to this, physically write it down, it'll make it easier for you to remember if you take a hands on approach as well. Listen while your driving in your car, and practice this technique when your at intersections.
    Let's crush this test together!
    Whether approaching, turning, going through, or starting up at intersections scan ahead, look
    left, right, then back to the left. Scan your driving scene getting the big picture and look left,
    right, first, looking for any pedestrians, bicycles, motorcycles, and vehicles to ensure they are
    obeying their traffic sign or signal, and looking for any obstructions that may block your visibility.
    Look left the second time because that’s the first lane of traffic I’m going to enter. Prior to
    entering the intersection, I check my traffic side mirror looking for traffic in the lane next to my
    vehicle that may turn in front of me. As I proceed through the intersection I check my opposite
    traffic side mirror to ensure I cleared the intersection of any hazards.
    Why? Keeps you alive at intersections.

    Thank you for making videos with only one commentary instead of all 10. Learning one a week and this will help greatly!

      Yessir no problem!! I find it sooo much easier to learn one at a time. I started with clearing intersections first, such a long commentary, wrote it down ten times listened back ten times, tried to do it without looking and repeated the process. It truly becomes so easy to focus on one at a time

      @@chrisvalentin4826 that’s wassup bro!!! Hope everything is going great! You’ll get the hang of the routes, managing a route and using your maps vs the list in your DIAD becomes VERY manageable the more you use it. Just take your time to get to know everything, go in early and try to set up your first ten stops ask your peers and superiors every question you have and most importantly get back safe!

    I’m starting on clearing intersections and I’m just going sentence by sentence. Repeating each sentence then putting it all together

    • @UPSTraining2022
      @UPSTraining2022  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      YESSSSS 💯 that’s exactly how I started it out. Get the first couple sentences, run it back, write it down, say it without looking, rinse and repeat rinse and repeat. Once you get down clearing intersections the rest of them will become a lot more manageable

    This may be a dumb question, but is the “traffic side mirror” your left or right mirror? My guess is the left mirror because i feel motorists cutting in front to turn right is more common than turning left in front of you. I still want to make sure because google doesn’t give an answer.

    • @UPSTraining2022

      I did virtual as well! Just take notes, lots of notes. The 5’s and 10’s need to be word for word, exactly how it’s said. Your gonna learn a lot on the virtual training but once you get to the ups warehouse you’ll have a couple days to do the 5’s and 10’s. Listen to all of these, write it down, recite it without help, write it down again, rinse and repeat. It’s not fun but it’s all worth it to know these in and out. Get a friend family member significant other to test you over and over. It’s awkward but again, it’s worth it and you need every ounce of help you can to absolutely crush this

    Jesus Christ. Hopefully this weeds out the competition because there's a new new warehouse opening up and I've got a CDL road test coming up on the 29th
    God, it's going to be just my luck I'm going to memorize all of this and then fail the damn test. I'll never live the salt down if that happens.

    • @UPSTraining2022
      @UPSTraining2022  ปีที่แล้ว

      You won’t it sounds like you care too much, there’s a lot riding on passing it, you’ll pass it, just keep saying that to yourself. Listen over and over, write it down ten times, try to write it without listening, rinse and repeat. It’ll come to you like it did me. It’s a lot to take in but repetition is what’ll make it seem like second nature
