  • The 250 LandCruiser Prado is an exceptional vehicle, but with 1,000km of testing, what does our R&D team think?
We put the factory suspension to the test, and install our first prototype suspension lift kit. From tackling bump-stop issues to spring rates and damper settings, we’re pushing the limits of this exciting new platform.
This is just the beginning of our real-world testing journey. Stay tuned as we refine the ultimate suspension solutions for the 250 Prado!

Haha... I knew it.... The one problem a suspension company found was the suspension. 😂

They load it up so heavy for the bump stop footage. To make it look like the bump stop was the issue.

Toyota has the tough job of creating a suspension solution that suits everyone and their unique needs. While they have done an excellent job with this new vehicle, the suspension setup isn't ideal for carrying any load over the rear axle or for fitting bigger tyres.
That's where we come in, we're designing a range of solutions that can be tailored for each customer. Running a bar and winch? We have you covered with spring rated to suit. Loading up the rear with 300kg? We also have you covered with springs rated for those constant loads.

Incorrect. The GoPro footage was taken with a driver and passenger in the front seat, and no load over the rear axle.
If you're still not convinced, take one for a drive and you'll notice the progressive bump stop we're highlighting in this video.

I laugh about criticisms already..the17000 pre orders were based on past experience with Prado..I ve owned every iteration petrol and diesel since98 and after 15 years we expect changes...upgrades but they have been bloody superb for touring all over Aus and the outback

To cut down on the weight of the vehicle, the bonnet of the 250 Prado is made of aluminium.

what about the vehicle warrants. Is it out the window!!

Hi Mate, thanks for the comment.
We understand there may be some concerns around warranty, but rest assured we have you covered.
Toyota’s warranty will remain, and generally applies to all vehicle components except the suspension as the original components will be changed.
Tough Dog stands behind our suspension kits with a 4-year/unlimited km recreational warranty for all suspension components we offer.
Let us know if you have more questions, we’re here to help!

Toyota told me that any modification may effect the warranty and will be assessed case by case. Prior to any claim the dealer will commonly document mods to wheels, tyres, suspension, bar work, towing equipment, and check the engine and automatic transmission for evidence of remapping or modification to exhaust and induction system including aftermarket snorkels and air box mods, the list went on! I spoke with my local dealers service manger at length about this and my take was if you modify the vehicle in anyway and then have issues no warranty unless the claim is isolated to a part of the vehicle that is clearly not modified and not effected by any other modified parts of the vehicle. Sorry long reply, but I thought it worth mentioning..

Why would anyone spend $10000 on a new car then change the suspension?🤔

100000 not 10000, becuase people are born stupid and toyota knows it

      Hi, that's a great question!
There are several reasons why someone might choose to upgrade their suspension, even on a new car:
      - To achieve a more comfortable ride over the factory setup or to fit larger tyres for off-road adventures.
      - To handle additional weight from aftermarket accessories like bull bars, winches, or heavy drawers.
      - To safely and effectively tow, where something like airbags can help manage varying loads.
      - For a GVM Upgrade, allowing the vehicle to legally and safely carry more weight than factory specifications permit. While this isn’t available for the 250 Prado yet, our engineering team is actively working on it.
Toyota has the tough job of creating a suspension solution that suits everyone and their unique needs. Tough Dog suspension upgrades are all about tailoring a vehicle to suit its specific purpose and user needs.
      Hope that helps clarify!

Surprise surprise the only issue with the 250 is the suspension from tough dog.

      Hi, thanks for the comment.
For those that are daily commuting the vehicle with no load, there is no issues with the factory suspension. However there are several reasons why someone might choose to upgrade their suspension, even on a new car:
      - To achieve a more comfortable ride over the factory setup or to fit larger tyres for off-road adventures.
      - To handle additional weight from aftermarket accessories like bull bars, winches, or heavy drawers.

Not everyone needs a new vehicle, but the 250 Land Cruiser Prado is a great option for those that need a 4x4 wagon in this category.
The 150 series is also a great vehicle, and we're sure you'll have many more years of happy motoring!

Test drive last week pre purchase. Takes a day to get from 0 to 100. Horrendous for overtaking. Looking elsewhere.
