Just an FYI... Take it or leave it... I taught English to high school students, and when furthering my education, I got a degree in teaching reading. One of the most important things I learned, and knew from experience, that you should always read poems and important things twice, if not more. You read first for content, and secondly, for deeper comprehension. I always repeat my reading if it’s something I want to retain.
So is it also applicable on watching informative video like this? Like should I watch it 2x? Normally I would take down notes while watching the vid and that's it. Should I watch + take down notes and watch it again?

I live in Vienna, Austria and whenever I go to a classical concert I'm leaving inspired and eager to work more. Why? Because of all the musicians who play with absolute mastery. I know how long it takes to become that good. Those musicians started learning when they were 4-5 years old. Now they're over 30, performing all over Europe. Working on their skills each day. I have so much respect for anyone who has mastered a skill. This World truly does not have enough of dedicated people. Dedication, consistency, patience. Those traits are to be admired and worked on. Great video and I'm very happy to see you have covered this topic, thank you.
Hi Pola, I was in Austria last year when i cycled the Eurovelo 6, was in Vienna too your city is fantastic with great people. Actually its one of the best cities along the entire route. *Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great makes you feel that you, too, can become great..*

There is nothing new being discussed here, just rephrasing of time tested vintage ideas. The core message is that you should declutture your schedule so that you can energetically focus on your core interests or ideas that have the most potential to shift the needle in a significant way.
Possibly the basic concept here is to try to develop the skill to be an original thinker. Original ideas are extremely valuable. Hence all this thinking time - it's worth sitting down to try to come up with the next big thing!

It seems that one should first decide what to focus on before getting intense. If your "Deep work" benefits you more than someone else, than your chance of success is much higher. Don't get trapped into deep focus (work) as anyone's employee. You're first "deep work" should be independence, freedom of creativity, freedom from stress and financial burden.
For ADHD brains among us, the advice here is almost comical. ADHD causes something called "hyperfocus", which is essentially uncontrolled deep work. Our problem isn’t developing habits that encourage deep work, it’s developing habits to DIScourage inappropriate deep work. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve looked up from several hours of hyperfocus just to realize I’ve written code I don’t need, or fully researched an irrelevant topic, or planned out a project that will never get done, or developed a skill I’ll never use productively.
I am in love with this video! I been trying to design my workflow for a while now and didn't know how to start. This video definetly helped me create one that makes sence. Thanks!❤❤❤❤

You missed another group of survivors; those who have practical skills and abilities and who aren’t dependent on the government for their survival. I do agree wholeheartedly that those whose time is spent in empty pursuits, especially on electronic devices, will not have the ability to survive. Wahhhh I have done these habits before because I desire to be a copywriter but I lost track because of “distractions” such as my job, stress, and yes men! Ugh. I was well-disciplined. I go to library once a week to study after work then on my days off, I self-study because I cannot afford to go to school. I should do it again. I didn’t know this “deep-work” thingy lol Do you have any videos on how to avoid distractions long-term? I already deactivated most of my social media because it’s a huge distraction but I figured that it’s just one of the factors why. Mostly, it’s just my train of thoughts that are distracting me. 😅 Thanks for this video. I would definitely go back to my habits of cultivating deep work again. It’s for my future. 🙌🏻
Sometimes the best way to avoid distractions is to give in. It's similar to the concept that the more you try to avoid thinking about something the more likely you will think about it. If there's a particular train of thought that's recurring, take a little time to explore it, sketch it out in a notebook. Once it's scribbled out, you can either evaluate it right away to see if you can use it or set it aside. At least at this point you've run with it and have more capacity to concentrate deeply on other pursuits.
