Not only do I love watching the candy making process, I love, love, love your family dynamic. Makes me feel nostalgic for my youth for some reason. Being at home with my parents and brothers and sisters.
Love lessons on Plumbing, brittle making, pumpkin growing and math lessons. great video. One of the most genuine videos I've ever come across keep them coming. Thank you for keeping lost art candy making from dying. Love the joy in what persons do. Thank you so much.
*1972, I grew up living next door to an older couple that owned their own cookie & candy business. They made homemade peanut brittle every year, starting in October. They paid an Amish man $500 for their peanut brittle recipe. They made it in very big pots, & only the men could make it, due to the addition of baking soda that was added at the end. It would rise very quickly, & to keep it from spilling over, it had to be stirred very quickly, then dumped onto huge metal trays. After about 30 minutes, his wife & I would kinda' twist the trays like an ice cube tray to make it come cleanly off prepared tray. We then would break pieces, & add to the prepared, labeled clear bags that had their company's name, weight, & price on it. Quite honestly, the best brittle I've ever eaten. Absolutely nothing like that Aunt Sues stuff. It was far from flat. Great video. Brought back many fond memories.*
Well, your comment is a bit pointless as well, not to mention makes you sound a tad heartless. He's just sharing a fond memory about peanut brittle, a memory brought up by this video.
It was nice to watch this. I use to be a Candy Maker on Main Street at Disneyland back in 1997. Peanut Brittle was my favorite candies to make. I still have the candy maker forearm on my right arm, from stirring the candy. I miss doing this.
I have to ask...what is the "candy make forearm"?? Is it bigger because of the muscle being built up or is it like hairless or injured from the heat in some way? "Candy making forearm" isn't common knowledge lol.
"candy making forearm" is that like a bigger muscle on that side? .... "i don't spend too much time on pornhub.....it's my candy making forearm!!" ........ sureeeee
Max did a great job on camera duty! Love watching you guys interact while you work. I hope you have a very successful Christmas season, this year. You certainly work hard for it.
My aunt used to give me a box of home made peanut brittle every year around Christmas. She passed away a few years ago. Watching this video made me tear up a little.
I had a sweet elderly neighbor teach me how to make almond Roca, peanut brittle and various others candies. I'm so grateful to have learned these skills.. but brittle will give u a definite work out! We used to stretch it out with table forks and then I bought handheld garden rakes which helped us to work faster. In the end I think stretching it out by hand works best. My little elderly friend passed away last year and her family gave me the huge marble slab she used to make all her sugar based candies. I still make candy in her honor.. especially during holidays. We can learn a lot from our elderly, I could have looked up any of those recipes online but I had so much more fun learning them from her. 😊 She is missed.
Good Job Max! And great editing Craig and Amazing candy making Terry and Steve idk why I love watching just the two of you two working together you don’t need to really talk you just know and work together. It is just very cool to see a Married couple together so long and so In tune with each other.
This was one of the first videos I ever watched 6 years back! Such great memories and I love and remember the stoic type energy from pop, he reminds me fondly of my own! So glad to have been brought back to this channel
"we need 10lbs of corn syrup" *Starts adding corn syrup to the scale* "So, uhhh, how do you know when enough is enough" "When the scale goes up then I know" 😂😂
"So what ya' doin' today Steve?" "Gotta" put in 10 lbs of corn syrup" "So how do you know when enough is enough?" ...as Steve is filling the bowl that is sitting on a scale...brilliant.
Hercules Candy I think we need a pumpkin video this year!! Those sound outrageous!! BTW send him down to the Boston burbs with some candy will ya please! I am in desperate need of a good plumber. So far all I've heard are nightmare stories. But I really and I mean REALLY need someone to fix my upstairs bathroom!
Love watching and learning all about the candy. But the everyday talk is so down to earth. Love how you are all your selves. One night I fell asleep watching lol mainly because I couldn’t stop and was around 2 am.
I love this couple their so nice too their workers they never yell and so devoted too/passionate about what they do id love too work for these two if i lived where they are
Love making peanut brittle, it was the first candy I learned how to make. Holds a special place in my heart for that. Great now I gotta go out and buy the stuff I need to make it lol
This was my daddy's favourite sweet I remember when I was young. He would buy some and share it with me, the nicest bits were the crumbs at the bottom of the bag, yummy. Thank you for reminding me of them wonderful memories of those days. Mind you it was not covered in any chocolate. Plus thanks for cheering me up today. 😊
pecan baby 3107 thats nice remember but what sucks is you can't sometimes I wish you could relive them ): I miss the good old days of my life the place I knew the people I knew my friends and when we moved the good life was all taken away from me why just why a perfect life ruined ID do anything to get back the good life I lost ):/
@@chickythechicken2340 lol no not a hater i love watching their videos. They make candy I thought they would find it interesting to hear how someone else makes it.
These are the happiest people you ever wanted to see. I use butter while making my peanut brittle because it adds a rich flavor. I loved watching them make this peanut brittle. I would like to try it with pecans. There is do much love in this video. That marble table is a gem along with the Vulkan kettle.
Yes, we'll probably do that once we get everything in the shop, but right now it seems like we make and ship it before we can even stock the shelves! A good problem to have haha but wouldn't make for a very good tour video
The last part shows how much of an art form it is, like sculpting. If it's a half inch too thick or too thin, it looses the texture that makes it so good.
Those large bags of sugar are also used to make moonshine so that's another reason why they dont make them so large any more...easier to track whom is buying large quantities of sugar.
How is that wooden stir stick not melting with that tempture? We're learning about brittle and pumpkins. My fav part was the cutting at the end, that looks fun.
My first time watching candy makers working. Lovely job, real neat. All is done in a certain order. I'm so glad you made this video. My husband loves it. His sister makes it for him every Christmas. The one with pecans is sold in San Antonio, but it's pricey! Congratulations!!!!
I loved making candy every year with my Grandma. Should have paid better attention but you are reminding me of some things that must have stuck in my brain. Great memories are flooding in. Thank you!
He asks great questions? Less than a minute and half in and he has: A) Asked him how he knows when enough corn syrup is enough as he was adding corn syrup to a scale after he said he needed 10lbs of corn syrup. That's a pretty silly question. B) As he was still weighing out the corn syrup he asked "does anything else go into it?" Do you really think that's a "great question"? Those large bags of sugar are also used to make moonshine so that's another reason why they dont make them so large any more...easier to track whom is buying large quantities of sugar.
The more you know
I used to be a pie baker, and the biggest bags of sugar and flour we got were 50lb. They were hard to handle. I don't miss baking pies everyday.
If they track avocados, they track sugar.
My sister would be in trouble then if they tracked her drinking 25 lbs a week in her coffee alone.
That is not the reason, it's worker safety, they don't want people picking up heavy weights.
Gosh, y'all seem like such a nice bunch of folks. I love the fun back and forth between all of you. You're all so kind and nice. :)
