  • It was a joy discovering Elands Bay. It is a really small village on the Atlantic Ocean. It did have an enjoyable, long gravel road which took us all the way to Lambert’s Bay. When we arrived in Lambert’s Bay, we wanted to visit Bird Island, but it was already hightide and the sea was splashing wildly over the walkway, so it was closed to the public. This was a rather big disappointment. I had the award-winning fish-and-chips at Isabellas Restaurant in the evening and it was a very tasty dish. #DustBugs #adventuretravel #southafrica #elandsbay #lambertsbay

Thank you those beaches are sooooooo geogeous and no wonder they are King of fish and chips lovely. The crumbed mushrooms looked delicious. Great.

Holidayed during December at that caravan park many moons ago. Come the night the temperature dropped down to frigid, thanks to that bitter cold Benguela ocean current. Eventually, we went further inland and stayed at a guesthouse on a rooibos tea farm near Clanwillam. I did enjoy our visit to the west coast of South Africa.

Just stumbled across your channel guys! Thanks for documenting the footage of this part of the world, where I grew up. I see you have a lot of videos of South African towns which I will now binge during the week :) Willie

Wow, the sound of seagulls reminds me of my childhood! Do you reckon a day trip to Lambert's Bay from Somerset West is doable?

It's definitely doable, but it'll be a long day on the road with about three hours each way. 🕊️🚙

I have eaten quite a few times at Isabellas but that fish and chips you had in your plate really does not look like it deserves a medal at all...no wonder you did not say anything afterwards. I really have had a lot better..quite sad.

We're no fish-and-chips experts by any stretch of the imagination, we're more the Russian-and-chips type. We wouldn't even begin to know what to compare their fish-and-chips to, other than our local shop in Strand, which is fantastic by the way! 😁🐠🍟

Oh yes! I would imagine it is one of the most well-known seafood restaurants on the West Coast. And what a unique place. You certainly grew up in a fantastic area and must know it very well! 🤩🦂
