- What a fantastic holiday town! Strandfontein has so much to offer. As we drove through the town, we happened upon the campsite. It's aptly named Horseshoe, perfectly located and terraced so virtually every site has a view. As we drove down to the beach, we saw lovely picnic sites for the public. We drove all along the beach to the daycamping area. We had a stunning late lunch at the Kommetjie Restaurant opposite the tidal pool. We had a great view from there, really an amazing setting. There are such spectacular views of the coastline from different points in the town, not to mention the gravel road we found which took us through a gorge to the ocean and then up the side of a steep hill to the labyrinth with amazing vistas of the Atlantic Ocean. #DustBugs #adventuretravel #southafrica #southafricavlog #strandfontein #atlanticocean

What an incredible seaside village, I was so looking forward to this episode and was not disappointed. I have seen great reviews online for Kommetjie restaurant and can see why, I was impressed with your waitress' Sharon's service. Your guesthouse looked great too, neat, well appointed and the secluded braai area a gem of note. Your channel is really giving great exposure to these lesser known places and their accommodation on offer.
We just love the less-travelled roads more and more with each trip. It's fantastic that you enjoy these places too. 👌🏻 We found the people of Strandfontein very friendly, helpful and welcoming, they live in a special place and we were happy to have discovered a small piece of it. Your comment about our guesthouse is spot on, it was super neat and we immediately felt relaxed and at home. The food and drink were, as very often with us, the cherry on top! 🍔😁

We agree, we'd like to go and camp there when the weather is warmer, we think that could be a lot of fun with so much to see and experience in the area. Oh, and don't forget the good food! 😁

End of every year we would go on holiday to Strandfontein from Victoria West and Graaff Reinet. First as students and eventually with our own kids. Would walk for miles along the beach. Water ice cold. Kommetjie was just a little cafe. Lovely family holidays

There's also a labyrinth type thing at the boer war musuem in Bloemfontein, it was basically exhibit telling what kids went through during the war
That's interesting! It's actually surprising how many labyrinths are around and how much effort has been made to create them and to keep them in good shape for all of us to enjoy. 😎👍

hi i moved from jhb desember 2019 i saw most butiful places in cape but with u fisit wellington i started and follow every video ,many times i work as mobile auto elec and we dont know cape town ,when i work on saterdays some time far as 300km we saw diffrent cape town wife some time get more relaxed wen work some week ends drive with me to see difrent arias ,but this strand fontein i must visit u show many places to see google maps nicer then old maps but youre movies make us want to see and travel west cape.thanks for showing us but u going mo give me travel ideas thanks
We so appreciate you joining us on every trip, thank you. 🚗 It's amazing what you can see within 300km from Cape Town, places one has never heard of before and we just love exploring those! It's great that you can take your wife with you when you get away, it makes all the experiences so much more special. I find Google Maps just easier than normal foldout maps nowadays and I can keep an electronic record of where we've travelled. Enjoy your travels too! 😁

Guys, I love this channel - especially as a South African who has worked in England for twenty years and can now come home. I want to buy on the West Coast so your videos have been a great resource. Elands Bay is my current choice (we thinking either there or Sedgefield - very different, I know!🙂) . I just wish you had shown a little bit more of Elands Bay when you went along the front there. Thank you. 😊 You must be super excited to be able to return home after such a long time! 🇿🇦 The West Coast and Sedgefield are two great options and you have a difficult job ahead of you to decide! You'll no doubt spend some time in both these areas before you make a final decision. How I wish we did show a little (or a lot!) more of Elands Bay. @@DustBugsTravel Dankie Meneer. I’ll be over in May for my niece’s wedding in Hibberdene and am going to do a week before looking at both places so I can spend some time at both to get a feel. My gram loved in Knysna so I know that area pretty well but I have only been up the west coast once to Saldanha. 🙏🏻❤️

Well camping at the caravan park on the beach the police drove through and a guy asked how safe is this place so he answered have a look behind you and if you see one house with burglar bars i will take you personally to that house.

It was our first time in this part of the West Coast and it's awesome! I think the town you're referring to, might be the neighbouring village of Doringbaai. Check it out in Episode 142. 😎🚗

Wow, I never knew that! 🍔 Prices are so crazy nowadays, burgers aren't even cheap anymore. But we love them!

I would imagine so, but I honestly don't know for sure. The few locals we spoke to, said it's very safe, but I don't have any formal statistics as such. 🤷🏼♂️
and.. I love the couples banter... 'We hardly even felt it' [typical male]..wife ... [wiping sweat and clinging to wallet] 'I wouldn't say that"... Also you do so well with composition...not so easy especially with a phone.. I mean compositon of your pictures. Do you think it would be crazy to try to buy property in Strandfontein? [Retired I mean]
Sonia is quite feisty and we've always had a fun relationship since we met and I'm so grateful for that. 😍 I'm quite happy with the end product achieved with my cellphone footage, I just don't want to burden myself with additional equipment which would really be overkill for our use. I really don't know Strandfontein well at all, other than what you saw during our brief overnight stay in town. It certainly seemed like an amazing place with a lot to offer and incredible natural beauty, but you may have to visit yourself in person, immerse yourself in local life for a while and chat to the locals to get their take on it. Your ultimate decision will probably be based on whether you like the vibe you feel when in town. 😁🌊

@@DustBugsTravel Interesant. My sus in Gordonsbaai en nig in Somersetwes. Indian julle weer Velddrif weskus toe kom is daar baie meer van die dorp as Bokkomlaan. Geniet julle soooo baie. Mooi bly!

Any idea of the best time of year to visit Strandfontein?
I guess from November to April during summer would be the best time. I'd go in March or April to avoid intense heat, but I don't know the area or its climate intimately at all. 🌊🤷🏼♂️
