- There was no contest when Charly Bliss was picking a song to cover from our 25-song list: The power-pop four-piece knew as soon as it saw Len’s one-hit wonder “Steal My Sunshine” on the remaining list. The song is bright and effervescent-a prototypical summer song that works effortlessly with Bliss’ brand of energetic ’90s fuzz-rock, and they bring new energy to the typically laid-back track.

There's no contest they are right. It's fresh. You can tell a hard working band, and you can't just pull this one off. Love the cryptic soul crew Len album. Live in Manhattan but Brooklyn bound to see these guys. Few bands have talent these days, what a breath of fresh air.

I've been listening to AV CLub covers on and off for a few years now and wow, this is the first one that has ever immediately blown me away, without having to quantify it to something. This mix is just so perfect. I had never heard of this band before, but they nailed it more than any other known quantity that has ever passed the bill. Congrats.
go see them live if you can. they instantly became my favorite band when i first saw them open for veruca salt. they are so good. and so fun.

This is the video I saw of Charly Bliss. I then searched for more finding Ruby and after that I was a fan, bought the CD Guppy became of huge fan.

The original of this song has always been a bit of a guilty pleasure and I absolutely love this version.
Honestly, I just keep watching this for the band's weird ass facial expressions. But watch it enough times and you really start to enjoy it.
They have always reminded me of what would happen if someone started a band and the only pop culture they had consumed was Empire Records.

Actually, the voice of Tommy Pickles is E.G. Daily and she is an "amateur" singer. She did the theme song for the late 80s movie Better Off Dead and more recently was on the Voice.

Charly Bliss killed it doing a whole set of Josie and the Pussycats songs in Brooklyn back in 2017. They are great band and I never thought I'd be slammin to Pretend to be Nice cover from that film.

Even if you don't like the band and it singer, which I personally do. You should appreciate how much fun they have performing! They seem like they'd be so much fun to see perform!
haters gonna hate...they can suck off.....but as far as seeing charly bliss...yeah....going to my 7th and 8th show in the next two months....they are the best live band out there and super nice kids. always talk to their fans. they are easily my fave band and i go to a lot of shows...11 in the next three months....prolly 30 so far this year.

You know, at first I found the singer's voice a bit grating, but for some reason I just kept coming back. Now I'm completely in love with this rendition. Even better than the original.
This is precisely my experience.
At times I hear echoes of Kathleen Hanna from Bikini Kill or Kim Deal from the Pixies in her vocals, and those are the moments that save the vocals for me. I love the conversion from pop to power pop, though, from a musical standpoint, and the energy of the band... so it's too bad the vocals are so challenging.

Man a lot of haters on here! I saw these guys live back in DC as an opener for another band. I saw Eva outside and thought she was just somebody waiting for the show. After I saw them perform I was hey there's that girl that was out at the curb earlier! totally blown away. I love her voice. And these guys rock. Haters can go kiss off.
I think with the rock/electric guitar arrangements, it feels quite relentless, and doesn't lend to much dynamic range. BUT I just bought their Guppy album today, and it's been one of my best purchases of 2018 (and perhaps even 2017). Their songs are so tight, and there are no wasted chords or bars.
