It's nice to see emulation being so powerful on a handheld device with great battery life. Since Sega, Nintendo and Sony don't care about their back catalog of games, it's nice to see emulation step up and deliver.
Tagging this one so others see it. I haven't had time to dig in and fix issues game by game just yet. I often assume there are tweaks but when you've been filming games for 4 hours you just switch to 4:3 and move on. haha
@MjolnirStone I definitely share that sentiment. I love tinkering though. Also, I found a version of citra called antutu and it played every 3ds game I threw at it perfectly. Even ocarina hd and majora full speed with no graphical glitching. And that was on the pocket 3plus. Love your videos btw. You and tech dweeb really got me into retro handhelds
Can I ask- I know how to do this on my pc but I'm new to Android emulation. What is the process doing this on my Odin? I have all the gecko codes. Is there a way I can do this on my pc first and put it on mini sd card all ready and set to go for Odin?
Word of advice for everyone wanting widescreen. If you want it to work without glitches, seek the individual game's widescreen Gecko codes. Some games have them from multiple people, so just, pick one that works well, and set your aspect ratio to force 16:9 to avoid it switching randomly in certain games like Pokemon. With performance like this, for games that apply, like Super Mario Sunshine, 60fps codes exist too. Super Mario Sunburn is a great mod that has the option built in among many others. The latest version is 1.8c. A lot of games have HD texture packs you can download too, if you want to make things look even more sharp and such. Your results may vary depending on the pack.
17:35 are you using the latest turnip drivers? have you tried switching from Vulkan to OpenGL to see if that helps? and lastly - if you havent you should enable skip EFB in hacks to see if that gets rid of stutters
21:16. Smash Bros Melee its actually one of the two most preferred Smash Bros games along with the Switch one, because its mechanics are really, really competitive and on the next entries the creator gutted the mechanics competitively because he doesnt like his game being played competitively and Nintendo as well.
Just an FYI on Rogue Squadron is that it uses a very specific part of the Gamecube thats still not implemented fully so you will get slowdowns no matter what platform.
Maybe someone can correct me here, but didn't the GameCube play games at 60FPS? That would mean that even though this handheld is playing the games smoothly, it's still playing them at half the frames as the GC? Is that right?
@@catonwall3 I tried that game on my 6GB phone. At 4x it runs at about 10-15 FPS but maximum memory usage was about 86% so 5,16GB. Mostly it was in 75-78% region. Gradual increase from 1x to 2x to 3x and finally to 4x resolution was about +2-3% RAM usage per resolution multiplier so difference between 1x and 4x was about 6-8% more RAM. That being said my phone seems to be bloated af because after reboot it shows 55% of RAM used anyway.
@@ukaszp2333 got you, very interesting. Thank you for the super thorough reply. So likely the high usage shown in the video is a similar situation? Other stuff running in background you think?
@@catonwall3 I think so. If my bloated 6 GB phone gets up to 86% or 5,16GB of total RAM usage in worst case scenario in Rogue Squadron at 4x resolution then Odin 2 shouldn't use 9,48 GB in the same game. That would be rather odd. Especially when even some Switch games use way less RAM on Yuzu which is not as polished as Dolphin right now. But I don't really know. Someone should make thorough RAM usage test on Odin 2 :) It would suck if 8GB model couldn't even do GameCube at 3x-4x res :(
Nice video, I'm in the 6xxx contribution #, hopefully I can get it before December, still can't believe they are shipping early. If you are testing Switch games, can you put Warriors Orochi 4 Ultimate on the list? It would be a great one to see how well Odin 2 handles it in gauntlet mode where there would be a tons of enemies and effects cheers.

When you get to Switch, can you review the Switch ports of Skyrim and Dark Souls? I've seen several other reviewer videos for the Odin 2 covering the traditional Mario, Zelda, Pokemon type of Nintendo Switch games, but neither of these two ports have been mentioned yet :(
I find your videos to be very informative and helpful so many thanks for what you do. I do have a question for you. I just got the Odin 2 and I have been enjoying it but I have gotten to a glitch. When I try the Citra emulator I have a lot of slow downs. I had the same thing on my Surface Duo and I thought that it would stop with the Odin 2 because of the higher performance processor but it still doing the same thing. Could you share with us what version of Citra you use or any settings?
Curious if you have had an issue with saving? I have been playing mario golf on GC but it acts like it is saving but never does. I have tried dolphin and mmjr, and everytime of save option.
What settings are you using? I tried Star Wars Rogue Squadron 2: Rogue Leader on my Odin 2 max and it was mostly a choppy mess in the same level you show. I am not sure what is going on with mine.
You wouldn't, which I definitely said in the video. I am testing at 4x just to see if the system has the ability to do so. In handheld mode there is no need, but the system does support 4k output to a TV, so it's good to know what is possible.
hi man, im using odin 2 and im playing NFS Most Wanted. sometimes FPS got dropped and the music will slow, the game will slow too. im using openGL 3.5x, performance mode, Fan Smart. why still like that? what setting i must change it? thank you
@MjolnirStone Odyssey has wonderful movement and looks awesome. I'm just not as good at it, so I've not played past the cloud kingdom Bowser fight. Been meaning to go back to it sometime. Now it's been 3-4 years haha

@abbywilliams9633 which is about 1/3rd of the price for telephones that use the same Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip.
Thanks for this .... your tweak vids on the RP3+ is what helped sell me on getting one of those. Nice to see Rogue Squadron 2 is playable here.
So glad my videos helped you jump on the RP3+. You're right, it's pretty awesome any cheapish handheld can finally play Rogue Squadron 2.
Enable cheats and look up the widescreen geck cheat and copy it to twilight princess. It fixes the water glitching while giving you 16:9

Honestly, I was just tired of filming at that point. Also, on handhelds where it doesn't work well it tends to not work even in the intro.
