A few scifi recommendations (They're short stories rather than manga) that I'd highly recommend to anyone regardless of literary tastes are This Tower Made of Ashes, A Song for Lya, and Meathouse Man, all by George R.R. Martin. None of them are long, (20 pages, 67 pages, and 30 pages respectively) All of them can be found compiled in Dreamsongs vol. 1 which is a chronological compalation of a bunch of his shorter work. You could almost certainly find them online for free somewhere as well. They are 100% worth the read in my eyes!

Loved Captain Momo! She's so funny and you get desensitized to the nudity after a while lol. I would go to war for Grandpa John. Knowing the mangaka, it could be years before volume two, if we get one at all lol. I think I have all the Tsugumi Project out right now, but haven't read yet. It's a case of finding the first two at a used bookstore and then getting the rest for a huge discount off InStock. Definitely have had the other three on my radar. Probably will go ahead and start picking up A-Do at least. I've seen nothing but good things.
Hmm since you already mentioned Heavenly Delusion and I feel like you're a person that would already be reading Kowloon Generic Romance, then Search and Destroy is a new cool one. We only have the first of three volumes out right now, but it's a more contemporary dystopian re-imagining of Dororo.

Yeeess haha I’d go to war for grandpa John too just such a cutie kitty! But, yeah who knows if we’ll ever get a second volume of this, but I’ll stay hopeful for now at least 😅🤣
Kowloon is great to need to pick up more volumes of that one!! Oooh haven’t heard of that last one so definitely going to go add it to my list to pick up-thanks!!

I got around to reading all of these except for Secret Base! I wasn't entirely sure about the slice of life aspects, but I'm open to reading it at some point down the line. The rest of them I absolutely loved! I've read everything available so far in each of the other series! They each had their own distinct vibes so it's hard for me to compare them to each other, but each one I thought was excellent in it's own way!
Starting off, I'm going to come out and try my best not to be an apologist for Fool Night.🤣 I never saw him going through transfloration as anything but a purely selfish act. He's definitely not doing it for his family! I thought it was a commentary on how dystopian and horrible society is to the common person, which is something I see our own society trending depressingly close to in real life! All he wants is some stability. An actual meal from time to time! To be able to live without the constant fear of being able to feed himself, having a roof over his head tomorrow, can he hold on to his practically slave labor job, is his psychotic Mom going to kill him when she runs out of meds?! He doesn't finish his work in time, and his boss just casually says, well I guess your not getting paid this month... He can't make ends meet as it is and now he's slaved away doing 14 hour shifts for nothing! In contrast to that we see his childhood friend who has a government job and living a comfortable life and how she just can't relate to the hell that is Toshiro's existence! Everything he does is just to stay afoat! He's the definition of desperate! Compare that to the bright eyed boy he is at the beginning! I felt like the whole transfloration plot was more just a vehicle to explore the more desperate aspects of their society. I also thought the environmental storytelling was excellent! Each plant we see was once a person! And there's no lack of plants around either. They're purposely drawn in prominent sections of each pannel they appear in, reminding us of what it takes in order for humanity to keep on existing! Also the end had me close to tears as well! I can't really put my finger on it, but something about those interactions between the pianist, her father and Toshiro just got to me!😂 I actually already have vol. 2! I preordered it and it just randomly showed up last Wednesday even though it's not supposed to come out until tomorrow!
Tsugumi Project was probably the one that took the longest to grow on me. I wasn't sure what to think of it, and yes Doudou kinda made me feel uncomfortable in the way he was portrayed. It was originally published in France so maybe the French are just more into borderline racism?🤷‍♂️ The art is gorgeous though! The first and second volumes are really atmospheric, and that absolutely drives them forward! We start to get a little more plot towards the end of vol. 2 and the next three kinda shift in tone. By the end of vol. 5 I was definetaly invested in the story and the ragtag cast of characters we meet! Also, I thought Tsugumi was adorable in her own mischievous way!
A-Do was just a blast to read! It was the lightest, most action oriented out of all of them, but I have thoroughly enjoyed what we've gotten so far! Vol. 4 comes out at the end of this month and I'm anxiously awaiting it's arrival! I agree that the second volume does take a bit of a downturn, but I felt like it was taking a moment to kinda build the plot and secondary characters a little. The third vol. I really enjoyed as well! And very minor spoilers, Eito(I pronounced it the same way in my head😂) definitely has not forgotten about Riko!
King in Limbo was hands down my favorite out of all of them though! I don't want to say too much about it because I'm always weary of raising expectations and ruining the experience.😅 That being said, I adored the two main characters and their interactions with each other! I thought the plot was really well executed and interesting throughout! It was one of those that I found my mind wandering to while I was at work or hanging out with friends and I genuinely got excited to sit down and dive back into its world! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!(although absolutely nothing wrong if it ends up not being your cup of tea at the end of the day either!)

Wow you really went ahead and read as much as you could of all of them (except Momo 🤣). I like your perspectives on Fools Night, and it did make me rethink somethings about the first volume! I do feel like this could have been executed better, but I get what you’re saying…and I am interested in checking out the second volume lol
Hmm sounds good about Tsugumi Project that was honestly probably the one I’m most nervous to keep going with, but I just loved that atmosphere and landscape art so figured I would anyway, but I’m glad to hear you did get into it eventually!
Yeah, A-Do and King in Limbo were both so great definitely my fav two reads! 😊 I’m excited to finish King in Limbo I’ll have to try and remember to return to comment on what I end up thinking! Hopefully I love it the whole way through I really liked the boys so much 😄

I really don't read scifi. But I did really enjoy Dungeon Crawler Carl, which is kind of in that realm since the world gets taken over by aliens. Expect me to bring this title up a lot... 😅

Oh! If you're a fan of the buddy cop and diving into peoples' subconciousness (that also needs a pair for it to work haha) you should definetly try out "Your Forma"! There's a manga version of it!
