The Z28 is a very good car if you can’t afford a Corvette
Being a kid of the 70s and 80s, there were three American badass muscle cars that everyone wanted: the Fox-body Mustang 5.0 GT, the Pontiac Trans Am and the Chevrolet Camaro IROC Z-28. For me, this was a beautiful design and it was just a great car to be seen in. This example is so clean.

Totally agree, that car is worth the price alone just because it so nice underside!!! Most are rusted rotted or some idiot tried to jack them up in the wrong spot

In the mid 80's when i was graduating high school that was my dream car. Nowdays i have drive a 5000lb Grand Cherokee SUV which has 2.5x the horsepower that Iroc had and way more luxury, it's funny looking back that we thought those weak mid 80's sports cars were powerful.

The prices are not my issue, having to build an additional garage is. The sad thing about collecting cars; you can’t stick them in a shoebox like baseball cards 😂 But I still enjoy the videos. Who knows, maybe I’ll see something that will prompt me to let go of one.

Looks like the rear hatch motor is completely dead. I didn't hear it even trying to work. . . Might be why switch in the center console is non-responsive. There should be NO NEED to ever slam shut the hatch. Dummy owners back in the day broke them doing that. Like you it said, it should catch and pull down into the locking position automatically once the sensors on the hatch & body meet.
Had to deal with the hatch motor in my 90 RS. (Different problem tho, stripped worm gear) those motors are mounted into a plastic body, they don't much to break. Especially at their current age.
That 86 in great condition tho. A real beauty. 😊
If the horn and radio are not working check the dome light. If it’s not working there’s a blown fuse and likely a short in the lighter or dome light.

That black custom cloth interior for '85-'86 (code 19C) was famous for turning to a bluish hue when it faded.

A friend of mine had bought a brand new 86 IROC Z/28 back in 86, and it had a tuned port injection engine in it. That thing would go sideways when you smashed down on the skinny go fast pedal. And donuts, it loved to do lots and lots of 'em. That had an automatic transmission in it, too. I was kinda surprised when you opened up the hood and I saw an air cleaner sittin' on top of the engine. I guess that was the difference between the Z/28 and an IROC Z/28. They are both sweet cars, and the paint on this one you have is beautiful. Black makes those years of Camaro's look freakin' awesome!

This Camaro was my nemesis back in the day, LOL i was rocking a 90 5.0!
If a person liked just black colored vehicle's the perfect combo would be that older 69 model Chevy on the newer frame and this Camaro z28. I love bright colors and my choice of combos would be either the blue vette or blue GTO and that white suburban. When I do come to buy I'm coming with cash.

305 is 5.0, not 5.7. I bought a new Camaro in 1988. 5.0 V-8, 5 speed 170hp. The first time I stepped on it was underwhelming to say the least.
This is for all you people out there, if you clean the tracks for you windows 1st, then use some WD 40 silicon fast dry. Use straw in trackss every 3 to 6 mo. You'll never have an issue just fyi people ....

The '86 model year, hp got choked down from the '85s.
Definitely not something you're going to outrun anything but a 70's model Volkswagon in.
That was on the LB9 Tuned Port engines due to a camshaft change, lost 25hp down to 190 from 215. The base carb LG4 like in this car actually gained 10hp in 1986 to 165hp partially due to the new electric cooling fan.
HAHAHAHAHA. The sound of the doors closing makes me cringe. My Monte SS's made that same sound. Good old 80's GM cars.

Had an '86 in the trans am version.....cool car but no real raw horsepower like the muscles before the damn govt ruined them. Also had a cammed up '89 Iroc....meh.....take me back to my '71 dodge demon 340, 4 speed. Now that was the end of muscle for that era.
Lol yeah I went from a 66 Chevelle to a 83 3rd gen many years ago and after a few months was like ugh why did I do this 😂...but at the time mid 90s Chevelles were 2500-5000 dollar cars and I wanted something with AC 😂

I had a friend in college with this exact car in 1993. It was a giant POS! The build quality was awful but it was pretty cool. This and the Fox Body Mustangs were all the rage. I had a Friend with a 1989 Fox Body 5.0 also and that car was equally build quality challenged. Definitely GM garbage at its finest!
