Yup. The aftermarket ones went out the same side to maintain flow. I used to swap those out all the time. On the stock ones the exhaust flow would favor the left side, I forget which side, but one would wear out/rot faster
These had the handling advantage to the fox bodies due to the fox body having the shorter wheelbase and lighter body they couldn't handle the power that they were pushing because they couldn't distribute the weight to power ratio. That's why so many people were getting killed in them.

I was in my 89 Formula 350 the other day and saw a fox I wanted to race but he didn't want none 😂 😢 . I do have long tube headers and air foil and chip but that's it . Want to open the intake up a bit and get some good heads next.
I have a 1990 IROC that is identical to yours (same options) except it is blue. I used it as a daily driver from 2002 to about 2009. It now spends all of its time inside. Like yours, mine is a survivor, unaltered and no rust. The 1990 is rather scarce as they only made about 2200 of the 5.7's before Chevy ended the IROC contract. Nice car. I love third gens.

It doesn’t have t-tops cause it has the 5.7L…starting in 90’ and thru 92..no longer could get a 350 with tops it had to be the 5.0/305…most people would rather have the 350 and lose the top option…a smart one in the know would order a 305/ and get the 5speed ( cause it’s a 305~ you Definitely want the manual) and then order the tops…had to find always see 90-92’s and when you see t-tops automatically you know it’s a 305 and 9 times outta 10 it’s a damn automatic…
Geez, this is same year, exterior color (I took my graphics off) and interior color as my 90 IROC, only difference is mine has the electric door mirrors. They came stock with the Delco radios as mine did.
Nice car, my brother bought a new 89 Red with Gray interior, he got the T-Tops so no performance axle package but that 350 still ran good with the 2.73 gears or whatever they were, they wouldn't let you have the 3.23 with T-Tops, crazy we thought but true.
@@danielfair4675 No, don't believe so. We sat in the dealership and ordered this car. The G92 Performance Axle package was hardtop only and not available with T-Tops. The T-Tops cars came with a 2.77 axle, not the 3.27. Now maybe this changed at some point but for 88 and 89 this was the way it was.
@@thud9797mine was an '87 w/5.7 & t-tops, I ordered it in late '86. The 3.27 gearing was it, the limited slip differential was an added option that cost you an additional $100 with the 9 bolt Borg-Warner. The 2.77 gearing started in 1988 though. I still have my order sheet from waaaaaay back. 😉
That's odd. The second gen T-tops leaked horribly but I thought GM solved the problem by the time the IROC Camaro and its Firebird cousin came along. I had an '86 IROC with t-tops and never had any issues at all with leaks.
@Paul miller that's cause starting in 1988 the Camaro's were only built in Van Nuys, CA. Build quality was sh*tty .... the Norwood, OH plant shut down in August of 1987.
It was built in the Van Nuys, California plant then. The plant in Norwood, Ohio had much better paint work. To bad GM closed that plant down at the end of August in 1987.

@@Knowledge-IS-Power365 Aftermarket stereo head unit, red "IROC-Z" plate on intake, red tubing and spark plug wires, headers (performance upgrade) and probably a few other items. Still it's very nice and most of those items could easily be returned to original. Would love to know what it sold for!
Wrong.. t tops and 350 were offered in years 1987,88&89 staring in 1990 you could not get t tops with a 350 you had to go with the 305… alot of weird options you had to do or couldn’t do these cars have a laundry list of do’s and can’t do’s that all changed with the 4th Gen in 1993… 350 and tops and a 6speed. Only thing was the 4th gens looked like a jellybean…
I'll gladly disagree, I ordered, bought & owned both a NEW '87 5.7 IROC and a '91 5-speed GT together until 1998. Both were ran at Kil-Kare Dragway in Xenia, OH a few times. Times were within a tenth of a second and less than 1.8 mph of each other. Throw an automatic 5.0 against the 5.7 IROC and it was a 3 car length win for the Chevy. My buddy had a '90 LX automatic .... and he'll kindly back-up my statements. 😁
@rich1223 ... put a 5.0 auto vs a 5.0 manual in 2 average guys hands and it a 50/50 split. You're into old magazine articles to much .... lol. Im guessing you never owned a 5.0, by your "get stomped" statement. Otherwise if you'd have owned a 5.0 & raced an IROC you'd know better. In '89 GM then offered a dual-cat exhaust option, code N10. With the 5.0 (305ci) manual, they were actually quicker than the 5.7 auto. I'll give you another project since articles are the gospel in your eyes, rather than first hand experience. August 1987 issue of Motor Trend with a stock 7 car shootout in it ( I still have it here ). Let us know what you can get out of it about that "stomping" that use to take place. That .10th of a second is murder, and more than 50% of the time that manual is gonna lose on the street between your everyday drivers. That .10th difference was done by experienced guys that do it for a living. Its got a 5.7 IROC & a 5-speed GT in it, the GN, Trans Am GTA, Dodge Daytona Z, Corvette & Thunderbird Turbo Coupe are also involved. Back in the day I also had a friend with a GN, they were the cats-ass back then. But to folks that read old articles or remember what they heard about them from their Daddy they were unbeatable, lol. Those cars had a WHOPPING 124 mph top speed. My parents 1974 AMC Hornet station wagon with the 304 ci would rival it top speed wise. Top speed for the 5.0 & 5.7 again were damn near identical. Big difference was the handling at anything over 100mph, with a solid rear the Mustangs floated around like a John Boat. That's the only thing I didn't care for about about them. Huge driving & handling gap at speed vs the Camaro.

Gorgeous car! You're so lucky it doesn't have the T-Tops. It looks cleaner and the body is more rigid.

Actually the performance axle came standard with the 350 (5.7) motor. With t-tops or not it used a 3.27 ratio.

Rare hard top. The glass top leaked in the rain and turned the chassis into a wet noodle as far as rigidity is concerned .

Thats a gale banks exhaust. Not stock. How do I know? I bought one for my original owner 1985 IROC in 87. Still on my car.
