Yes, The sign of true intelligence. Insult me or my friends, I will mess you up to the edge of your life. Apologize, (truthfully and from the heart) And I'll be your BFF.
I don't think you noticed, but Hiccup probably lost his foot when Toothless saved him. In that scene where Hiccup was falling and Toothless was trying to reach him to save him, Hiccup was falling head first and Toothless was diving head first. In those positions, the most likely way Toothless could have reached Hiccup is by catching a foot in his mouth. So, Toothless lost a tail fin to Hiccup and Hiccup lost a foot to Toothless. Kind of poetic justice, I think.
@@jacquelinemartinez8653 The way he phrased it was very ambiguous. I looked it up. He said that Toothless had to make it even and he couldn't save all of him. That's why I pointed out the positions they were in as Hiccup fell. He fell head first. If it was due to the fire, then he should have been killed falling like that. His feet were the last part of his body to enter the flames.
@@psychokitty71 but doesn’t Toothless have retractable teeth? He probably would have gummed Hiccup instead of chomping him, which would more likely lead to bruising/breakage as opposed to loosing the foot entirely.
@@elainaveasey5831 Unlike my initial comment there's not really any evidence to support this, but I think he would have used his teeth, almost instinctively. He was literally trying to save Hiccup's life. Not using teeth, he runs the risk of losing his grip on him. Better to lose a foot than be killed. Not to mention, losing a limb is kind of an occupational hazard in their world. A lot of their tribe seem to be missing a hand or foot.
@@psychokitty71 yeah Toothless definitely had to grab him by the leg with his mouth so he ended up either cutting it pretty badly so they had to amputate or directly ripping it out himself because of the force of his jaw. It would be pretty weird that the fire only got to just one leg given that both were in contact with the fire.
Now you guys have to watch How to Train Your Dragon 2 and 3! One of my favorite series ever. The sound score for this series is incredibly written and performed too. Test Drive and the Romantic Flight theme gives me chills every time I hear it.
These movies are literal masterpieces! The score, the characters, the entirety of their plots. They never cease to amaze me. Like Dreamworks went off on these movies! Can't wait for you guys to react to How to Train Your Dragon 2 and 3!
The blacksmith honestly gives the best parenting advice: "stop trying to be something you're not", "if a kids are bound to do things, teach them how to be safe about it".
That line when Stoick says that Hiccup isn't his son is devastating with them. Many Norse names are along the lines of Erikson, or Anderson, or Peterson. And it , literally, means son of Erik, Ander or Peter. So saying that means he cannot claim his Father's lineage, which was VERY important. Also, I imaging that when Stoick is kneeling over Toothless and Hiccup, on the ground, I imagined there being, just off camera, a whole horde of Valkyries waiting, ready to fight over which one got to take Hiccup off to Valhalla. His qualifications would have been immense. Was willing to defy his Father and whole village for what he knew was right, First to take down a Night Fury, first to train and befriended it, first to ride a dragon, created a whole profession of dragon riders, among his people, Led an assault on the queen dragon and with Toothless, killed it. Something his entire tribe would have been unable to do. A lot of Viking in a small package.
no other score of any other movie will EVER compare to this one. literally chills everytime i hear it. brings me to tears because i get really nostalgic from my childhood. this movie has been so deeply integrated into my life, it’s so powerful and emotional
I’ve cried watching these movies and it still happens after years! You should really watch the whole trilogy, I promise you won’t regret it!! Also, I never write comments but I just wanted to say that I honestly appreciate your dedication to this channel and your sincerity (I hope this is the right word), so thank you! you really look like good people. @Motho how are you complaining about people not knowing what words mean when they're using it as a shorthand when you're literally doing the same exact thing. Get over yourself cringelord.
Really hope you guys react to the two sequels! The second one was an Oscar nominee for Best Animated Feature and the third is actually so pretty and emotional.
You need to understand that the Vikings have been killing dragons for years and then Hiccup suddenly showing a change that nobody understands at first. The stubborn reaction of Stoick is understandable.
One thing I loved about this movie was how everything pointed forwards. From minor dialog moments, to the tricks used against the final dragon from training, each action was foreshadowed and when you watch is again, you see all the pieces come together.
the reason why the massive dragon caught fire and exploded when toothless shot it is because its established in the movie that most dragons build up flamable gas and then light it like living flamethrowers. if you were to light the gas prematurely it would catch fire
This movie is one of my favourites, I remember watching HTTYD 3 in theatres and was crying so much bc the series was ending, I love toothless and how they made his character, such a beautiful storyline
Thank goodness!! I thought I was the only one who cried at the end of the trilogy because I was watching the tv series too. So I grew more attached to the characters and bonding.
Non-spoiler answers to your questions/comments made in the video: - They don't really say how often the dragon attacks occur, but I don't believe it was EVERY night. Certainly regularly enough for them to survive (they likely had other Viking settlements on other islands that they raided too), and regularly enough that the Vikings felt it necessary to create ways to fend them off. - "He sounds like he's from Massachusetts." Canada, actually XD It's unclear why the kids have American/Canadian accents as opposed to the Scottish accents of the adults; the cast joked once that maybe Hiccup and the others went to boarding school in the States for a year or two haha. - Hiccup never actually said he killed a Night Fury, he said he shot it down. "It went down just off Raven Point. Let's get a search party out there, before it-" (presumably, his sentence would have ended with something like "before it gets away"). - Yep, Fishlegs is McLovin (Christopher Mintz-Plasse), Snotlout is Jonah Hill, Hiccup is Jay Baruchel, and Tuffnut is TJ Miller. That group of actors have worked together in different formations in plenty of projects over the years. - Yep, Toothless lost his tail-fin when Hiccup downed him, which is why he now has issues flying. - It's rather . . . abstract, but Toothless actually drew Hiccup lol. When the finished product is shown (17:37), his mouth is making an "O" at the bottom-left, then diagonally to the right we have a swoop for his nose, a couple of circles for his eyes, and the rest of the swirls around it is his hair :) - Idk if you guys plan on ever watching the tv series (it's not necessary, but I'd recommend it, even in your own time), so I won't say what it is just in case, but I will say there is a very good reason dragons don't like eels. - I'd say Toothless rolling around in the grass was more of a cat thing than a dog thing, purely because that type of grass is like catnip to them (as you see just afterwards). They literally call it Dragon Nip haha. - Nah, Hiccup and Astrid aren't together yet, they just bonded over the experience Toothless gave them. - Not saying I agree with Stoick's attitude, but you have to understand his POV. He's not only a father, but he's also a chief, and the thoughts of whether he should prioritise his son or the tribe in different situations conflict with each other. He is also fearful for his son's wellbeing (like he is throughout the whole movie), and because of his fear over his son being killed due to his association with dragons, he lashes out and says something he doesn't mean. He immediately regrets it after leaving the hall (you can see his knees buckle/he stumbles slightly). He has a good reason for being so resistant to the idea of being friends with dragons, which is explored in the second movie, so I won't go into it further here. - It's unclear how exactly Hiccup lost his leg, but the most common theories I've seen are a) it was crushed when he and Toothless hit the queen's tail (sidenote: the queen dragon is known as the Red Death), b) it was crushed/broken beyond repair when he and Toothless landed on the ground, or c) when Toothless was trying to protect him, he had to bite his leg to get him closer so he could wrap himself around him.
In reference to why the adults had Scottish accents and the kids had American/Canadian accents was answered in an interview with either Craig or Gerard (I can't remember which). The Scottish is supposed to represent the "old country" with their old school ways and the American/Canadian is to represent the "new country" with its modern ideas.
I actually agree with yall in terms of the Hiccup x Astrid relationship and lack of development with this movie. I was willing to forgive it because in the sequel their relationship is literally goals, the series is what really made me love their relationship. Httyd series that takes place between thos movie and 2nd that does a MUCH better story building, setup/buildup for Astrid and Hiccup ship cause it's slow burn, technically they arebt together the end of this movie they only become official 2 years after this. Thank you, it's crazy amount of reactions I see where no one talks about the Netflix series. It's surprisingly good the animation budget definitely took a hit, but the story is amazing. get to see prototypes of hiccups sword and wingsuit, and see the group of characters become better friends, and in the instance of Hiccup and Astrid more than friends. I honestly like the series more than the second and third movie. The show seems to fill in all the plot holes in the second movie, like how would they know how to fight on dragons so well without experience.
I have purchased this movie and series every chance I've managed. I watched the second in the theater close to 10 times. FINALLY you guys have gotten around to it. Hallelujah

Toothless is awesome, but I think all of us viewers have been Hiccup at one time or another. It's another element of this movie that makes it great to watch.
So, there's a video from Charles Cornell on TH-cam that goes into how that test flight song combines Toothless' musical theme (the one that jumps around more actively) and Hiccup's musical theme (the one that is slower) in a way that works just... so amazingly well. I enjoyed the song before, but hearing how it combines the two musical motifs and uses their interplay to show the way that flight builds the bond between Hiccup and Toothless really just made me fall in love with the scene all over again.
The song that is playing when Hiccup first rides toothless is called Test Drive and it was written by John Powell. He wrote all the music for the HTTYD trilogy.
little music theory lesson here: in the scene where Toothless and Hiccup are flying for the final product of the saddle and tail fin, the music actually also tells a story. in the beginning it plays Toothless’s theme and Hiccup’s theme back and forth based on who is in control. It sounds messy and uncoordinated, because it IS because they haven’t learned to work together yet. THEN when they finally start working together, a new theme comes in (that’s a combo of both of their theme’s) and that’s the song y’all were singing. It sounds a lot more majestic and amazing because they finally learned how to work together as a team. A VERY cool way to use music score in movies.
17:57 The hesitation Toothless shows during the famous "touch" scene was actually an animation error. However, it looked so perfect that the animators chose to leave it in the film.
The first time I saw the movie I didn't really like the relationship with Astrid or her character so I can understand your opinions But the truth is that rewatching the movie over the years I've grown to appreciate the character more and more until she became my favorite. Maybe the "romantic" interest felt a bit rushed but Astrid is definitely an amazing character. She is the perfect representation of a respectable Viking and not just the image of a foolish risk-taking Viking, and I think it was important for Hiccup to have such a presence in his life. someone brave, intelligent, who knows what they wants and fights for it. And it's certainly not that her relationship with Hiccup is fully cemented right there in the first film, in the series they show more of his development But for a movie that we didn't know if it would have a sequel I think they did a good job of introducing the characters and their relationship with each other's
I think the reason hiccup loses his foot. When toothless goes to catch hiccup as he is falling, toothless bites him as if you remember toothless teeth retracts when he is trying to grab something quickly. I think that it's a symbolism as hiccup also did shot toothless tail in the beginning. Like you said they will need each other, they are kindred.
50:47 Stoick said "you brought him back *alive*", as in: "you, (the dragon) brought him (my son) back (to me), and he (my son) is still living". Not "brought him back *to life*". It's not that kind of movie
*the two in the middle & left talking about dragon vs Plane* "Well dragons are humans-" *Middle Guy being confused* *Guy on the very right contently watching the movie the whole duration on that conversation.* I love this trio- I just found them today and this is my first time watching but I love them sm-

The title is SO TRUE! TOOTHLESS IS THE BEST i want my own toothless so bad. I enjoyed your reaction so much i really hope you react to the next movies as well the whole trilogy is amazing!
To answer why dragons are afraid of eels, they make dragons sick. Apart from the electrical shock, and in some cases huge size, dragons, when have ingested an eel, go berserk. They cant control critical motor functions, their shot limit is negated and boosted , and twice as aggressive even to anyone they know. The only dragon known to have no negative affects from eels is the Typhoomerang.
I’m developing a twitch after years of reactors saying ‘Toothless is so clumsy’ ‘Why is he so bad at flying lol?’ after Hiccup ripped off half the poor dragon’s tail 😂 No disrespect to you guys, it’s just wild to me that so many people watch this movie and say that at the start/sometimes for the whole film?!
on that note, i highly recommend you to watch their series too. it's so good and emphasises more on the characters and other dragons in the archipelago
If you want to see even more cool dragons, I highly recommend you watch the series. The show take place between 1 & 2. The show is just amazing. I really think you will like it. There are 2 series: 1. Dreamworks Dragons: Riders/Defenders of Berk 2. Dreamworks Dragon: Race to the Edge
i do believe this to be the best animated franchise of all time and i get so obsessed watching people react to them. so pumped for this. u guys never disappoint🫶🏽
fun fact! : toothless in the first movie didn't you realize that everyone who made toothless upset or hiccup upset toothless wouldn't let them go until they apologize for an example when Astrid first meet toothless, toothless wouldn't stop going fast until she apologized and for stoik he apologized to hiccup then toothless Finnally shown hiccup was ok
My boy Toothless did drawn something, and it was Hiccup! of course it doesn't look like him, but you can find on internert the "circles" with color, and see it.
I really loove this movie and I also recommend you to watch ,,Race To The Edge". Basically, it's a series based on ,,How To Train Your Dragon" but there's a lot of new dragons which actually were shown in the Dragon Book in the first Httyd movie ( discovering and learning more abt dragons was actually the whole point of this series ). Oh, and i also forget to say that dragon crew ( Hiccup, Astrid, Ruffnut etc. ) are teenagers ( they're actually lookin' really good ) there because this show was made after first and before second movie but it doesn't really matter and have no affect on the movie though. There are also some new characters that are not included in movie too but i think you may love them. Hope to see Race To The Edge on your channel! It would be awesome! 🐉
He's Canadian, actually. They initially wanted him to put on an accent, but Jay Baruschel basically just commented "and since when did vikings have Scottish accents?" so they let him keep his natural accent.
I quite like Stoick's character, actually. He's stubborn, but once he does realises his mistakes he is willing to admit and work to amend for them, and under high stress he is calm and remains rational and retains foresight. An amazing leader, but, yeah, stubborn.

The theme of this movie is one of my favorites
Kit H is a voice in the sequel btw, hope you guys do all the movies! They are all so good
YES BRYCE-- come through with my all-time favourite movie!!!!
My favorite movie from the series is the last one. I highly recommend watching the rest of them. Rob and Bryce’s facial expressions get me everytime 😂
When you started liking before even watching a the video. You know you like the channel
Same I do the same thing lol I love ‘‘em so I like it before watching lmfao😂
You guys have to watch number 2, it was such a beautifully done film and honestly exceeded my expectations.
Little miss sunshine is such a gorgeous movie! Can't wait for you guys to watch it
My favorite movie score. I used to put the soundtrack on when I needed motivations for a project at work.
the whole trilogy is awesome, I love this movies, and great reaction once again.
Httyd 2 is one of my favorite movies of all time, can't wait to see yall's reaction to it :)
This movie has some great action sequences and a I love how the dragons are designed overall a cute story loved the reaction
"no but the dragon is a human"
The song that is playing when Hiccup first rides toothless is called Test Drive and it was written by John Powell. He wrote all the music for the HTTYD trilogy.
my understanding is that toothless had to bit hiccupps leg to catch and save him at the end of the final battle but idk maybe thats just my headcannon
little music theory lesson here: in the scene where Toothless and Hiccup are flying for the final product of the saddle and tail fin, the music actually also tells a story. in the beginning it plays Toothless’s theme and Hiccup’s theme back and forth based on who is in control.
Tje song you were asking about is called Test Drive. It's a perfect meeting of Hiccup and Toothless's leitmotifs.
Yay one of my favourite reactors are playing one of my favourite trilogies
Y’all should definitely watch the rest of the movies to this series!! They are so good!
man, this movie is definitely one of those that I keep in my heart
httyd is one of the few movies where the sequels really live up to the first one
31:59 mans really was like “ I got my apology. I’m good now.”
The first time I saw the movie I didn't really like the relationship with Astrid or her character so I can understand your opinions
But the truth is that rewatching the movie over the years I've grown to appreciate the character more and more until she became my favorite.
And it's certainly not that her relationship with Hiccup is fully cemented right there in the first film, in the series they show more of his development
But for a movie that we didn't know if it would have a sequel I think they did a good job of introducing the characters and their relationship with each other's
Got my sushi, blanket, & a new reeltime vid. Nobody bother me.
You guys might really love The Sorcerer's Apprentice!!! (Same actor as the voice-actor for Hiccup is the lead)
17:42 I love how you guys are all in instant agreement with Toothless
On a side note how zooted was blue shirt?? 😂 mans said "Astrid lights" I love it
You have to watch the other 2 of these films!!!
50:47 Stoick said "you brought him back *alive*", as in: "you, (the dragon) brought him (my son) back (to me), and he (my son) is still living". Not "brought him back *to life*". It's not that kind of movie
Dreamworks is unmatched in animated movies. They have the most iconic movies!
The synchronized "Wooooaaaah, Astrid." Got me 😂
*the two in the middle & left talking about dragon vs Plane*
"Well dragons are humans-"
*Middle Guy being confused*
*Guy on the very right contently watching the movie the whole duration on that conversation.*
I love this trio- I just found them today and this is my first time watching but I love them sm-
"no, but the DRAGON is HUMAN"🤣
One of the best animated trilogies!!!!
“The dragon’s a human”
I believe hiccup’s foot was caught in the harness and when he got knocked off toothless the force just ripped his foot off
The trilogy of httyd is one of my favorites ever, there is not a minute on this movies where i wasn’t invested to the core and by this video you guys reminded me of it, thank u, i hope you loved it at least as much as I do
The title is SO TRUE! TOOTHLESS IS THE BEST i want my own toothless so bad. I enjoyed your reaction so much i really hope you react to the next movies as well the whole trilogy is amazing!
the cracking up during zuffs intro gets me everytime HAHAH
i love this franchise so much i wish we had more series and more games tbh :(
To answer why dragons are afraid of eels, they make dragons sick.
Hold upppp one of my ultimate fave trilogies ever. A masterpiece
I’m developing a twitch after years of reactors saying ‘Toothless is so clumsy’ ‘Why is he so bad at flying lol?’ after Hiccup ripped off half the poor dragon’s tail 😂 No disrespect to you guys, it’s just wild to me that so many people watch this movie and say that at the start/sometimes for the whole film?!
are you kidding me!!!! i literall just finished my httyd+rtte marathon ystd and was going to comment for you guys to watch this and here we are. wow
on that note, i highly recommend you to watch their series too. it's so good and emphasises more on the characters and other dragons in the archipelago
If you want to see even more cool dragons, I highly recommend you watch the series. The show take place between 1 & 2. The show is just amazing. I really think you will like it.
There are 2 series:
1. Dreamworks Dragons: Riders/Defenders of Berk
2. Dreamworks Dragon: Race to the Edge
i do believe this to be the best animated franchise of all time and i get so obsessed watching people react to them. so pumped for this. u guys never disappoint🫶🏽
fun fact! :
toothless in the first movie didn't you realize that everyone who made toothless upset or hiccup upset toothless wouldn't let them go until they apologize
for an example
when Astrid first meet toothless, toothless wouldn't stop going fast until she apologized
and for stoik he apologized to hiccup then toothless Finnally shown hiccup was ok
WAIT HOW DID I MISS THIS i have to watch immediately
The look middle dude gave left dude after he said the dragon is a human lmao 😂
I love this trilogy so much. Can't wait for the reaction. I also think Jay Baruchel as Hiccup is some of the best voice castings ever.
The Httyd trilogy always makes me cry, it’s so amazing
Also the series is so fun
Grew up watching this movie and love it a lot
My boy Toothless did drawn something, and it was Hiccup! of course it doesn't look like him, but you can find on internert the "circles" with color, and see it.
Anyone ever notice that hiccup and toothless have the same coloured eyes they both have green eyes
Dreamworks seriously don’t miss. Personally Dreamworks > Disney. But tied with Pixar.
You guys have to react to the 2nd and 3rd they are so fucking good
aww loved rewatching this with you guys !!
Please watch the 2nd one!! That one's my favorite
Best trilogy hands down. Very rare where each movie is better than the previous
You have to watch the sequels! They are sooooo good as well! I absolutely love this movie:)
I quite like Stoick's character, actually. He's stubborn, but once he does realises his mistakes he is willing to admit and work to amend for them, and under high stress he is calm and remains rational and retains foresight. An amazing leader, but, yeah, stubborn.
I love the joke about his horned helmet being half of the mother's breastplate:
"Keeps her close, you know?" 🤣
The face at "the dragon is a human" had me dying laughing
I’m literally on that part right now I’m like wtf is he talking about lol
There is a Netflix show that takes place between the first and second movie that is really good and really crucial to watch🙌
