It's so interesting seeing my parents in these TH-cam videos. You guys are so cute. I love you!!💜💜
EDIT: I can also attest to the fact that my Dad loves folk metal. Grew up to him driving me around listening to a lot of awesome folk metal 🤘🏾
EDIT 2: I know my parents are awesome, but I'm always amazed at how likeable they are as people when I watch their videos 🤔🤔🤔🤔

Wolf asks: " As a band can you copy yourself?"
When you´re composing there is a concept called " citation" where you use an idea, a phrase, a motif, a theme that you have already explored and developed in an earlier work and you reimagine it as a vehicle for taking that same idea and redevelop and explore new directions that same idea can take you in as the foundation for a new work, song, whatever,- a citation,- you´re quoting yourself.
Bach did this constantly to see in how many directions and to what full extent he could develop just one idea,- so yes,- you can!
This example from Eluveitie shows us all to what full content and satisfaction it could be done in a metal context.
    Awesome song!

AAAAAAH! This is one of my favorite bands ever! Their music just reaches in and grabs your soul, it's magical. Thank you so much for listening to them.
I highly recommend listening to the Ategnatos album. I am entranced by Fabienne's vocals and am glad she had joined, much as I also loved Anna. Their album Evocation II: Pantheon also has her singing a lot.
I do hope you guys listen to at least a few more of their songs--I will absolutely be watching. 💜

Stumbled across this channel while trying to refamiliarize myself with all the bands I've listened to before and I just had to subscribe and hit the bell. The reaction and feedback from both felt totally genuine and I loved watching it. Helped steer me to more recent metal from my favorite bands. Hope to see more and keep kickin ass!

I think that folk metal here in Europe has made more for the preservation of traditional music than many academic and government programs.
I know of projects here in Portugal and in Galicia in the north of Spain that working together they helped to renovate the interest in an old language like Galico-portuguese (btw the Spanish central government is not very found of), this is just a small example of the less known importance of folk metal.
I could tell you more but writing on a mobile phone drives me nuts.
Thank you guys for another great reaction video.
Love you guys so much, a big bear hug to wolf and a bow and a kiss in thy hand milady Sistah.
P.s I would give you names of folk metal bands to illustrate my point but I'm pretty sure you have more than enough suggestions and besides I do not wish to be one more reason for you guys not to watch the rest of ahs.
Again thank you both so much!!!

One of the coolest little moments I ever experienced was this past March while out on my morning run on the countryside. It was cold, but sunny, and windy enough for the sound of it to filter through my earbuds and in popped an Eluveitie song. I can’t remember which one it was but oh boy, did it feel like I suddenly was out on this magical quest thing instead of just doing some cardio.

Eluveitie seem to have this particular.. dynamic. That blend of instruments and vocals, both clean and distorted. Some of their best stuff is on the earlier albums. Helvetios and Origins are probably their biggest staples.

Earlier in the video, Wolf mentioned how much the other, more unique instruments, like the flute and violin, have an impact on the live performance. I couldn’t agree more, and that’s why I love symphonic metal so much. To me, there’s nothing like watching heavy metal backed by a full orchestra on stage, and it would be my dying wish to one day get to see a favorite band or two perform this way.....
Now, on to the song itself. You guys both really enjoyed the harmony of the make and female vocals, which I’ve noticed to be a trend with you two (coming from the Nightwish videos! ;)), so I can’t believe that you haven’t reacted to Epica yet! Epica is a symphonic metal band fronted by Simone Simons, an amazing lady with an absolutely gorgeous singing voice. You would dig anything they have to offer, although I will especially recommend Sancta Terra (there’s a live version with Floor to ease your way into the band by the way! It’s live with an orchestra too!), Cry for the Moon, Delirium, Quietus, Dance of Fate, and Living a Lie.
I would also like to recommend Stream of Passion, which is a progressive metal band from the Netherlands. They are no longer together, but the front woman’s voice is really, really good, and their music is a little different, but catchy. My favorites include Open Your Eyes, Don’t Let Go, Autophobia, and The Curse.
Finally, I would also like to recommend Kamelot. Previously a symphonic band, but now more progressive, Kamelot is male-fronted, but utterly incredible. They released two albums- Epica (just like the band lol) and The Black Halo)- which tell the story of Goethe’s Faust, reimagined. It’s one of the best things to ever grace symphonic metal, and music in general. I would absolutely love to see you two react to just a few songs from those albums, namely Abandoned, The Haunting (featuring my girl from Epica, Simone Simons!), and March of Mephisto (although you could do a twitch stream reacting to the albums in order, as they are supposed to be listened to, which would be utterly amazing). Again, the story and the lyrics are just breathtaking, so I highly, highly recommend it.
Thanks for coming to my TED Talk. ;)
PS: Fantastic reaction Sistah, as always :)

And please check out Anna's new band Cellar Darling, which is made up of Anna, Ivo Henzi and Merlin Sutter who were all previously in Eluveitie. Would love to hear y'all react to "The Clouding" by Iced Earth. It's my favorite song from my favorite album by them Framing Armageddon: Something Wicked Part 1. The album is about how there were a race of beings known as the Setians, the true descendents of the Architect of the Universe or God, who were the original inhabiters of Earth. Humans came from a different world and they wanted to conquer Earth for the Setian's magics and technology. "The Clouding" tells the part of the story about where the surviving ten-thousand Setians use great magic to wipe the memories of the Humans, change thier skin color and languages, and bury their technology in the desert. This is in relation to the story of Babel from the Bible. There are two parts to this particular song. You first get the Human's side then you get the Setian's when the song gets heavier.
Also in my opinion, if you do this song, listen to the version from the album not the one with Matt Barlow singing. Matt Barlow era of Iced Earth may be my favorite era and Tim Owens may be my least favorite vocalist Iced Earth ever had but Tim does this album amazingly.

Ehm... It means "(The) Helvetian", and it comes from an Etruscan inscription in Mantua. In Celtic it would actually be "(H)Elve(i)tia", since most Latin names are Latinizations, not originals. And eluveitie is considered an Etruscan adaptation from "(h)eluetios" in Proto-Celtic.

Interesting discussion at the end of the video. I seem to be kinda between you two. I started listening to metal in the early 80's, so I'm heavily influenced by bands like Maiden, Priest, Accept, Helloween and Warlock, some of the greatest metal bands of all time in my mind. Then I dropped out of metal for quite some years, before I restarted my connection with metal in 2013. This means that one one hand, I already have a well-established backlog of great metal music, but on the other hand, there's a whole universe of music to explore that I just missed and that is just being created as of right now. And I love a lot of the musical discoveries I've made in recent years and my taste has substantially changed in ways I would never have thought possible.
Nonetheless, there are certain things that will never land well on my ears, so I kinda understand where Wolf is coming from. I mean I'll never like the Rolling Stones just for the fact that I really dislike Mick Jagger's voice, I never got into Slayer even when I'm a big fan of basically every other Thrash Metal band out there and I'd probably rather die before listening to anything by Cannibal Corpse. And I also can't necessarily say for sure why I like some things and heavily dislike some other things. With the exception that no matter the genre, I need some harmonies, I need melody, if a song wants to keep my attention.

Wanna hear amazing folk metal? Try Mileth, song and video "De Bruma e Salitre". They are from Galicia, a once Celtic-speaking area in North-Western Spain. They have influence from Medieval "Celtic" music, just as Eluveitie, and also from Galician folk songs, and they sing in Galician language (which is a Romance language).
Not because they're from my country (they are actually from a local culture I'm not part of, I'm from the deep South), but I truly and honestly believe they are one of the best and most original bands of the genre, especially after their debut album was released few months ago, and it's MASSIVE!

I think part of the reason, Eluveitie repeats a lot of their melodies and things, is because they take a lot of old folk songs, and melodies and rewrite them for metal, so there is a lot of overlap.

    Wow!
Interesting structure of arrangements, mix of rhythms and instruments!
Reminded me a kind of angra with some goth and grind core...
Seems to be very orchestrated by a producer!
    It's fucking good!
I just don't liked the exaggerated autotuning at the female voice!
But I really appreciated the effects over the flute and violin!
    Nice video!
Thanks for introducing me to this!
(Still waiting for the "Evil warning" from first Angras Album)
    🙏😘🤟

I just discovered your channel. By a long mile, the best of its kind on TH-cam. You are both very intelligent in your comments and, above all, so honest and open-minded. I'd go with you to a concert any day! If you're interested in great vocalists, check out Soen and 'Savia': th-cam.com/video/9VEFORk1wYA/w-d-xo.html - it's something between Tool and Opeth

I was totally loveed first two Eluveitie albums, but as Wolf I am not very familiar with their new stuff. Because time passed and I found something not resonating with me. I love Folk Metal but I love it slightly different, I love it just less "metalcore" like.

... not sure if you know, but 'in case you missed it' id like to recommend German band IN EXtremo. I believe they might be very first folk metal band or one of few. They use lots of authentic instruments, some even self made from descriptions or sketches ... Also i think Wolf could play for her some Anathema - its like heavier Pink Floyd ...
... nice video, tho im not a fan of modern Eluveitie [liked early stuff].... and its nothing like traditional metal this is more Nu + Screamo ...
