Hell yeah, I still remember picking Slania up in '08 and being absolutely floored. They easily became my favorite band, over even Blind Guardian which is a close second, solely because the feelings it invokes in me. It speaks to me on such a fundamental, spiritual level. It makes me feel as close as I could ever get to my Celtic heritage and I love it.

They put the names of the animals in the credits! That was the cherry on top! The word song is merely a husk for what one will hear! Atmospheric, dense yet light,.... Wonderful!

I first heard Your Gaulish War, when I was, 14? On the radio because there was a guy who loved different metal from 12am to 2pm. He played that. No one knew then I had brain cancer. I had Neurosurgery in 2013, max dose of radiation therapy in 2021, and a full year of chemo 2022. Weirdly every time, you would release something so epic it hit my soul. You guys kept me going. And this, I've followed your progression and it's fucking beautiful

I love how nearly every Eluveitie song tells a story from multiple points of view. This song is a perfect illustration of that; the dark, grizzled scenes contrasted with the bright, melodic, harmonious ones. Beautiful song, beautiful atmosphere, beautiful storytelling.
One must engage the darkness to preserve the light. Like a man who's crops have failed and his family and neighbors are looking starvation in the eye. He knows he must now endure the darkness of the raid or the light of those he loves will perish. Eluveitie are bards with Druidic understanding and it is why we love them.
Goosebumps with this new single: From the Gods of fusion music: mandola, bagpipes, bodhran, Celtic harp, whistles ... medieval instruments .. nobody does it better than Eluveitie .. Big fan :)

It's always a good day when Eluveitie releases new music.
If you're not familiar with this Swiss band, it's kinda hard to put them in a box. They are for sure METAL. But very sophisticated metal with the growling vocals of Death Metal, the arrangements and storytelling lyrics of Folk Metal, and the shifting movements and time signatures of Prog, with a bit of New Age Enigma-style vocalisations thrown in. You're definitely going to need a few plays to fully get your head round this one and take in everything put into it!
The whole thing strung together is a concept album crammed into one song. It's one for the recliner, a coffee and quality headphones and nodding along to, rather than throwing yourself to it around in the kitchen whilst washing up..
If you want not just a song but an EXPERIENCE, this is definitely the number for you.
I quite enjoy a "sonic trip" so it's a thumbs up from me. It will fit equally well in a Folk, Death and Prog playlist. Probably too Metal for New Agers.
My Score: Very Good 4*
Chrigel is passionate about celtic histories. Brilliant, even. That is what I believe is the unifying theme in their sound.

This review is absolutely brilliant. I agree on all accounts!! It seems to carry the heavy weight of history, yet ahead of its time. It's an absolutely beautiful song, but more like a saga, honestly.

I agree. I like them. But its hard to put them in a box; anyway its hard for me to enjoy 100% this piece. In some ways, there’s “too much” in this work. Music has not to be easy, don’t get me wrong. But it is difficult for the listener to get immediately deep in the mood, ther’s too much element not well mixed together.

Nailed it. I feel exactly the same. It transports and connects me to my heritage more than anything ever has or possibly ever will. I can never overstate how much I love Eluveitie's music.

4:38 - 5:18 is just something magical. I can't even describe how it feels, but it really does something special to my soul. But you do have to listen the whole song to get that feeling, which just underlines how great this song is and how it builds up towards the end. Masterpiece, that's all I can say.
This track is both chilling, and intriguing. From the eerie choir, to the vicious drumming, there is something that calls from beneath it all, luring us deeper and I am completely entranced.

I miss Anna's sweet sounding vocals with the band but Fabienne has definitely grown on me and this song puts that voice of hers to good use. Another great outing from Eluveitie.

Anna's voice is very sweet, but Fabi's full voice high notes are unmatched.

Christian got one of the most iconic screams.. and paired with epic levels of folk metal... Soooo good!!!
I first discovered Eluveitie when they had just their 6 track demo cd, and a couple songs from Spirit floating around TH-cam. It was almost impossible to get ahold of even the 6 track. From that day Eluveitie has been my favorite band. I've been with them since just about the beginning, and continue to be left in awe every single time they release something new.
I did not expect to feel a whirl of emotions listening to this. This hits in such a good way. Amazing work!

hello buddy lol COF125 well old username for most stuff long time Cradle fan lol and supporter of Black Metal and Symphonic both super under appreciated for thier beauty. I freaking love Cradle even if Dimmu is bigger band somehow why don't know does not makes sense to me even love both bands but Cradle more. Oh a lot of Cradle of Filth fans also listening to Seven Spires if Dimmu, Nightwish, and Cradle had a baby band.

Late to the party, but for that I listened to this song more than I can count on this December 24th 2022. Glad to know these guys know what's up in this world, makes this song 100 times better than it already is! The contrast in this composition is staggering and yet everything fits perfectly.
