Whoever is requesting these videos on your Patreon is the real MVP. Another song to react to is Thousandfold by the same band. Another recommendation is Bring Me Home by Whitechapel.
These guys are actually from Switzerland and they're one of our biggest international acts, but outside the metal scene they don't get any recognition here...real shame, just look at the diversity in their sound (the using of ancient instruments is just the beginning :)
Marco I love that they sing some of their songs in the extinct Gaulish dialect too. Three of my grandparents are off the boat from Switzerland and I came across them by accident just falling down the rabbit hole on TH-cam looking for new music. And I have always been into the hurdy gurdy and it was crazy to me that Michalina joined the band after Anna left because I followed Michalina’s TH-cam channel way before that when she used to play Eluveitie and other metal band covers. I brought a lot of my friends in the US here aboard the Eluveitie train. Lol.
Omg. I am so stoked to see a reaction to Eluveitie! I have seen them several times live and am a huuuuge fan. Thanks for the awesome reaction. Michalina is one of the only people in the world you will see shred it on a hurdy gurdy.
I freaked out when this song came out a few years ago! Been a huge Eluveitie fan of Eluveitie for a decade now (I even bought the exact same guitar as their former rhythm guitarist). Great music and as a classical musician I love their use of traditional instruments! Folk metal is a fun genre to explore. This band also has few albums of simply neo-folk music as well which is definitely worth a listen.
You have quickly become my favourite "react" youtuber pal, love watching your passion for music and rhythms.I think you're a groove metalhead mate hahaha

I love the name of that instrument with a handcrank. Its called a hurdy-gurdy. The sound it makes is similar to a violin. I'd love to be the hurdy-gurdy player in a metalband!
One of my favorite groups. They're from Switzerland and are folk metal. The name of the band means From Helvetica (ancient name of Switzerland) and some of their songs are in ancient Gaulish. A variety of instruments including the hurdy gurdy, which is a medieval string with a crank. Their old stuff is good with their previous singer, as well as other songs from this album. Spiritbox is a great group; Epica; Nightwish; Cellar Darling which is a band created by previous Eluveitie members.
I'm glad you enjoyed it! I can recommend Thousandfold, Epona, and Quoth the Raven by Eluveitie. Definitely try to find the live versions. They are the best!
Congrats on finding my favorite band ever. Watching you enjoy them so much was a true joy, brother. Listen to the album this song is from, "Ategnatos." It's incredible.
I've been a huge Eluveitie fan for years!! Their music has always been something I come back to. I'm slated to see them Live in October in Dallas, if everything goes right that is. Also, I believe the proper pronunciation is "EL-WEY-TEE" but I might be wrong.
About damn time Hell Yeah!! Seen them everytime they've come to the US! They are mainly Tin Whistles and Low Whistles used. Every song by Eluvietie is based in Gaulish Culture, The Celts that inhabited modern day France!

TM: if you like flutes with guitars, perhaps a ride in the Wayback machine is in order. The name of the group is Jethro Tull. The leader of the group, Ian Scott Anderson, was an amazing multi-instrumentalist. He was rocking the flute in several of their biggest hits, one of them being "Locomotive Breath."
If Flutes and guitars fascinate you, then oh boy, the metal genre has a ton of surprises for you 😂. From Bagpipes to violins, from choirs to Orchestral. Metal Genre 🙏
Whoever suggested Eluveitie is a god! This is defo a band that will surprise and confuse anyone who hasn’t ever heard them lol 2LT didn’t know what was happening lol Class!
A quick note about the band members: The band is absolutely huge (headliner at major Metal festivals), but the people are still really down to earth. I worked with them once when they played a charity show with an audience of about 300 people (considering the fact that they're used to audiences in the 10'000s, that's pretty cool of them already) and they were all pretty easy-going. Their male vocalist can be found at my favourite Metal bar in Zürich every now and then and he's a pretty chill dude as long as you don't play the "obnoxious fan" (which isn't really a thing in Metal anyway). Also, the female vocalist apparently went to school with a mate of mine.
always thought it was broken up el-lu-veh-tea-ey. the tie in eluvetie being 2 syllables and the U getting its own but i kept listening to the band pronounce it over and over until it stuck how it's supposed to.
@@sessy01 Well their name is the name of the celtic tribe Helveti who lived in the northern part of Switzerland (where they are from). If we take the pronunciation of the Celtic at the time, your assumption is actually correct, it should be pronounced el-lu-veh-tea-ey. Maybe they are just rushing the pronunciation in interviews... But they have full songs in ancient Celtic, so I guess there intention was to have their name pronounced in ancient Celt, but what do I know ^^ We should ask Chrigel...
A thing to note is that it's a reconstructed language with a lot of knowledge lacking. It's basically informed guesswork. Gaullish (or Gallic) has been extinct for 15 centuries, and Gauls having prefered an oral tradition, we don't have a lot left. Another possibility for the swiss Helvetic tribes would have been Lepontic, but the situation is the same as with Gallic. Basque is a somewhat close remaining cousin, but still very different. Gaelic (or Goïdelic) forms (Irish dialects, Scottish and the dialect from Mann) are distant cousins as well, just like brittonic forms (Breton, Welsh, Cornish,...) But basing the study on those would be like trying to rediscover german using dutch.
eluveitie is folk metal that dude with the roar created the band. members come and go. but harps, guitars, flutes wood and metal, the crank instrument is called a hurdy gurdy.
not too long ago I brought my buddy to one of their concerts and my friend was the only black guy there, everyone else gave off the vibe that they sacrifice goats in the woods and/or burned crosses in their spare time. pretty wild show though for sure.
Though written and reslesed in 2017, this track forms the musical, lyrical and thematic bedrock of their latest release Ategnatos. That needs to be listened in its entirity
Awesome reaction! I really enjoyed that. Your comments about music iI agree with whole heartedly . Ne Obliviscaris, pronounced Ne O-bliv-is-scar-is Is an Australian 6 piece prog death metal band with a clean singer and a harsh. Clean singer shreds on a VIOLIN!
