    In this video, I go over three basic tricks to making ruts a little bit easier. Ruts can make life difficult when you're cornering, hill climbing, or just trail riding in general. These tips apply to all of these scenarios!

    Great tip dragging the front brake a lil ! A vet rider stressed that to me when I started riding. Now I'm the ol guy! Thanks Megs

    Really love how this girl explains things way shorter and easier than guys who has been for years making videos and with more experience than her. Awesome! You have lots of fan in The Dominican Republic as well!! Keep it up

    I do have a bad habit of looking down at ruts and usually I end up having my front tire trying to get out of the rut and lose balance. I will work on your tips more and look ahead just like any other part of the trail!!

    It is funny how many times that old saying "when in doubt power out" comes into play in techniques. The bikes we love to ride just need that momentum in order to make balancing easier and to push through stuff that is trying to stop us or bring us down.

    Trick to corner ruts is steering with your throttle and brakes. front drag brake tip is good - I use that often.

    Leave behind those doubts and power out 👍🏻 Visualize the exit, let momentum carry you through. First bring your knee up high, and if you think your foot's going to touch the ground, then extend your foot.

    Some handy tips Megs
    Danny Chandler (Maggo) had some good training tips too like keeping both feet off the pegs, you learn to balance without loading the outside pegs.

    Good riding for your age, great video, but these principles apply to all styles of riding, especially on the road, you always (on or off road) look where you want to end up or you will simply end up where you’re looking!..

    I don't know why it's so hard to look ahead when riding, but it is! Especially on ruts and corners. The other day I decided to try and see what would happen if I drove my car that way. It's so debilitating!

    Hi Meeg! Greetings from CZECH REPUBLIC! Have you tried the clake one light clutch? I have it and I am very pleased it was the best investment. We drive around the same things as you. When ride streams and rocky terrain makes it super and very saving your energy. Sorry for my english :-D

    Those ruts are not bad.. The ones made by trucks and jeeps are the treacherous ones..

  • @dznnf7
    @dznnf7 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    That's not a rut; it's a bermed corner. Ruts are washed out ditches meandering down a hill, dried hard and filled with loose crap, or tires ruts from trucks, ATV's, or other bikes. Bonus points for being narrow enough to drag at your pegs and/or leading off the trail. But the tips are good.

      Oh how I hate those jagged ruts created by water/mother nature!!

    • @dirtbikeantics4320
      @dirtbikeantics4320 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jcaashby3 What doesn't kill you makes you stronger.....and more tired after a ride :-)
      I sometimes find the water erosion ruts aid traction for the hill climbs as i get bite on the side knobs, usually requiring more than normal revs and clutch covering to prevent stall.
      The downhill can also aid braking too.

    Lol, ruts is all about body position,lay on the gas before entering so you can power through it and lay back on it like you would a turn and don't use the rut as a guide dont try to turn with it realy lift your leg of high infront of the front fender lean forward to get weight on the front end and take that rut like a man. Dont use front brake unless you want to go slow lol
