"Crime" is the right Word. I'd like to be able to personally ban him from reacting to all BTS rapline mixtapes, Cyphers, Ddaeng etc until he turns on CCs or switches to lyric videos :D
Seriously tho I literally hate more than anything when people don't take the time to look at their lyrics, I mean it isn't hard just turn on the captions or look some up. To at least get an idea of what they're saying cause what's the point of music if it just sounds good? There's more to some music than just that especially bts'. And on topic that people like RM over here use all that wordplay and puts all this clever intelligence into his lyrics and people don't even give a bit of their time to see that as they're listening to the music..Like what, why do you think he WROTE the song because the WORDS are important to it, as is the same for every song. That doesn't change just because it's in a different language 😑
This song was his way of addressing his identity crisis between being an underground rapper and an idol rapper - which are very different things in the Korean music industry. Being an idol rapper is sort of looked down upon because most idol rappers are asked to rap because they can't sing - like a filler position - not because they actually know or understand anything about rap as an artform or it's history. (Of course this doesn't apply everyone, I'm speaking generally) But because of this, a lot of 'true' underground rappers don't really respect idol rappers. RM comes from the underground, he studies and understands rap and it's history. He's a certified genius and has a long standing reputation for his complex flow, rhythm and writing. He frequently writes puns, inside metaphors, inside triple entendre - using TWO LANGUAGES. Yet he and his bandmate Suga had been scorned and ridicule for leaving the underground and becoming rappers in an idol group. 'Do You' is essentially him giving the middle finger and saying 'fuck that, I'm doing me and you do you'. I'll forge my own path and I no longer need to be torn between two definitions that don't matter. It's both a diss track as well and a motivational song. You should react to RM 'Joke'. His changes his flow like 5 times and doesn't breath for 5 minutes. OR 'Not Today' MV by BTS.
He's got "Joke".. and BTS rapline has Cypher series which are bombs ( i personally love Cypher pt. 3 and 4)... both bts rap line and vocal line has so much to show... Thank you the reaction, new to your channel btw 💜
For everyone. The song is about you need be yourself and don't be pressed by the people or fashion. "Do you" Also Rm is a rapper since he was 13 years old, he is so good in world play.
Thank you for reacting to this! If you prefer hip-hop sounds, you can check out (for reactions or just for your entertainment) his first mixtape, titled "RM". But if you prefer more atmospheric/mood sounds (idk how to call them), you can check out "Mono", the self-produced playlist Namjoon released last year. I highly recommend every track on Mono, especially Moonchild.
I would really LOVE for you to start reading the translations to some of these songs. I know you’d rather learn Korean first, and I’m so happy that’s what you want to do, but a large part of the experience when listening to certain Korean songs (especially when listening to K-rap where wordplay is vital and Korean music with politically charged messages) is knowing the message behind it. I really hope you take this into account when reacting in the future ☺️
Who is BTS?: The seven members of Bangtan, it's an introduction to each member and it's very well done. You'll understand more about each one of them. BTS From nobodies to legends - this is very emotional, because they did a great job.
He won't read captions on a video. What makes you think he cares to read a thirty minute subbed video about the members? Honestly I don't think he cares that much to begin with. He just cranks out video after video. . .
*So here is an explanation for part of this song (sorry for my english)* Before start, you have to know that RM was a underground rapper before join BTS and he was extremely criticized for leaving that world and "selling" himself to the KPOP world were guys use make up and dress in a certain way. The first part start with RM talking about the self-help books that generalizes peoples' struggles and desires and telling them exactly what to do, "*What do they know about you? Do they understand your dreams, your hobbies?... if you just stop being so self-conscious things can change a lot*" *Because it hurts, it’s youth, that kind of definition is the biggest problem* This line refers to a best seller book called “It’s Youth Because It Hurts”, in Korea this title became such a catchphrase, that if a young person spoke of his struggles in the difficult unfair job market, the older generation can just say “It’s Youth Because It Hurts”, meaning essentially “shut up and stop whining about your struggles. At least you’re young.” (BTS has a lot of songs that blame this older generations' kind of attitude) *you were born as a hero, why are you trying to become a slave?* The whole song is summed up in this line, RM is refering to the people who forget/change evrything about they own persona just for match the trending or society's ideals. *Genre is trap..Once you get hung up on that, you’ll become stupid. I’m not pop, I’m not rock, I’m not funk, I’m not R&B or hiphop* RM is no labeling himself in just one genre (and he doesn't label himself as a Rapper/artist or kpop Idol anymore, he is just being he) *skirt and skinny jeans? that’s not hip hop!. So are you more hip hop than A$AP and Kanye? those old classical geezers can get behind me* "geezers" are the rappers or hiphop artist that talked shit about RM for have interest in fashion just because they think that's something doesn't match with the music genre. So RM responded, if fashion it isn't hiphop for you neither are Kanye & A$AP? ( Because this two were of most fashionable rappers at that time) *Why don’t you just wear what you like? that’s swag. From the beginning, there was never right or wrong. Everyone is just a bit different, that’s all. Do you*
Putting on the CC’s would actually do it more justice, especially for the rap tracks. RM’s “JOKE” MV is awesome. You should check that one out too. Also Suga/AgusD’s solos “AgusD” and “Give it to Me” MV’s to hear his tongue technology! JHope’s “Airplane” is Dope too!
Wouldn't it good you enjoy the rap without the caption and then with the caption... with the lyrics the song would be different... cuz then you what he's talking about...😋 Plz react to AGUST D by AGUST D. (he's Suga of BTS)
This reaction channel is very helpful and brilliant really shows whAt channel is really paying attention to this boys artistry and production. Thank you for this 💜👏🏼👏🏼
you should react to his recent mixtape/playlist its so chill and lovely i think you are gonna enjoy it the lyrics are beautiful so I recommend checking out the lyric videos when you listen to it
Both Namjoon and Suga (Yoongi) took a lot of shit from the underground rap scene when they became idols. Both guys have made tracks and wrote lyrics expressing those issues. Check out Suga under the moniker Agust D. Also, Joohoen from Monsta X song Rhythm is fantastic. He is by and far one of the best rappers out there.
You should check out Yoongi aka Suga aka Agust D's 'Agust D' and 'The Last'. Also the Cyphers by BTS's rap line (#2-#4 are my favorites), and 'Outro: Tear'.
You keep saying you don't understand korean language? ARMY put on great efforts in translating everything the most accuretly possible. You can't listen to BTS or the BTS guy's solos without putting on the lyrics.. You miss too much. I agree that his genius wordplay might be a bit lost in a translation but you'd be surprise . You should like Joke too.
I'm trying to figure out why… Maybe he has some unknown reason, like having a hard time Reading subtitles while focusing on Visuals and Music? Maybe dyslexia? There could be so many personal reasons...
I really enjoy your reactions. They are fun to watch, and you really listen to the songs, you don't react just to react, if that makes any sense to you. 😊 If you are open to explore music from different cultures, please react to Sebnem Ferah - Cakil Taslari. Thank you, and have a great week!
BTS' rap line are such different animals yet they play against each other beautifully. Suga (alter ego Agust D which stands for Suga DT) has a great track called Agust D (there is a lyric version of it) and J-Hope has his Hope World mixtape with Daydream and Airplane which are all great tracks. BTS has arguably some of the best rappers in idol groups. I agree with everyone else about lyrics. Of course it's your review and do it how you want but learning Korean takes a lot and once you learn it there still isn't a guarantee of understanding all the wordplay because of cultural differences that no amount of language can give you. All rappers use idioms and sayings common to their culture, things most of us won't get because we aren't Korean. Rappers are lyrical poets so ignoring lyrics seems to be a disservice to their craft.
Thank you for your reaction. Love to hear you break things down technically ... They are all known for their use of word play and meaningful lyrics, but RM and his 148 IQ can take it to a whole other level.... Thank you again. Peace.
You have no idea how much ARMY is holding back telling you to read the subtitles. you think you get a lot of comments already? Oh no, we are practically biting our tongues in half. We respect your personal method of listening to music and the insight it brings us, but for god's sake, put us out of our misery and watch once more just for the lyrics. RM is a certified genius who loves wordplay in two languages. He has a hand in the lyrics of tons of BTS songs. It will help you learn Korean!!! Screw subtitles not doing it justice! Compromise! 5 yrs from now when you're fluent, because Korean is just that difficult, you can listen in the original language. Wahhhhhh! 😭💜😭💜😭💜😭💜😭 I'm done. For now. We love you.
You may want to interpret without subtitles and that is your choice but you will never truly know their genius without the knowing the lyrics. Both RM and Suga are amazing songwriters and you get half or maybe a quarter of the experience without knowing what they are saying. Your doing yourself a disservice with all your KPop reviews and it makes you look like your not genuinely interested in knowing KPop, at all.
CC'S please. Otherwise your lack of knowledge in Korean causes this to be only half a reaction. Turn them on and then you can stop saying that you don't know what he's saying which seems to happen every video.
I like your reactions but think that not checking out RM's lyrics is practically a crime. His a genius with wordplay. You're really missing out.
"Crime" is the right Word. I'd like to be able to personally ban him from reacting to all BTS rapline mixtapes, Cyphers, Ddaeng etc until he turns on CCs or switches to lyric videos :D
