  • Hi All, let's talk through the depreciating market and cars, but the Rally cars are still increasing in Value and limited vehicles are still making good values.
Here's a run through some of the cars at the Clubhouse and their values etc.
Are there any cars or subjects you would like in the next video?
    Richard

The rally cars have inflated value due to their provenance, that puts them in the same category as works of art, they are something to look at and immerse in nostalgia, something only for a person to whom money isn’t an issue. Every other car with a petrol engine is a gamble due to the uncertainty of what is currently happening with the car market. Only my opinion, but I think electric cars will eventually make older petrol cars increase in value . Let’s be honest, is there such a thing as a desirable EV? No there isn’t, they’ll never be desirable, so as they years pass, more and more people will buy petrol cars purely for nostalgia.

@@ChallengetheroadIt’s inevitable that legislation involving e-fuels will be passed. Too many wealthy people like Harry own billions in road cars for them to be outlawed.
I can envisage wealthy owners buying e-fuels in oil barrel quantities once or twice a year for £5000 or £10000.
Out of the question for most people to spend on a hobby on top of escalating costs for road tax and insurance but no issue for wealthier people.

*New Subscriber* : That was great. Investment chattles as you say : tanglible, moveable property that with personal ownership doesn't attract tax ( just like art, wine, watches etc. ). You make the gain when you buy as the fella said. What proportion of buyers are buying purely for a future profit (eg getting advice from a purchasing agent, and maybe never ever seeing the car), versus those with money who want to either use the cars (albeit on a limited basis to protect their value), or at least feel part of the car show circuit. For 80's/ 90's cars bought to be driven, I guess the owners are in their 50's mainly. Going forward, who'll be buying the cars from the last 10 years, and will these be viable long term as there appears to be so many computer modules ( 80+ ?) that unless some company can make a generic retrofit electronics sensor/ brain system that can be swapped in across marques/ models, the cars of the last 10 years may not have a practical investment life beyond, say 40 years. For example, on the Car Ninja's channel in the USA, an new airbag module for a Bentley Continental needed to get the dash light to go out was $2,500 from Bentley. Price gouging like that even on more limited production, popular cars, I think will limit their investment gain potential. Note : I know nothing. I love your collection. Keep what you love. Make a profit where you can. All the best and greetings from Prague, CZ

The market always rises as the generation that wants them can begin to appreciate and afford them. 50 years ago it was Alvis, Bentley and wooden chassis classics, then it was E types and mark 1 escorts, now it’s WRC cars and super cars. The cars we grew up with and want constantly change. Motorcycles prices fluctuate faster and are a good predictor of future car prices. Manx Nortons have fallen through the floor (everyone that wants one has one, the market today is for two stroke road and mx bikes next will be the 90s super bikes moving on. I personally see the future not in cars but in restoring modding early iPhones anything pre the 6 with the functionality of a 13

Not over supply, more over priced, so the value drops, until it’s in the price bracket that people want to pay.
This in turn puts the value of classic vehicles up.
People are waking up to the fact Ev no matter what manufacturer are over priced, businesses realise that they are going to have an issue get value out of them selling the vehicles on after a couple of years. So they may get money off tax but that doesn’t cover the loss of value to resell the vehicles.
The second hand car market is also taking a big hit, as the prices are dropping, this is because they are now coming down to pre covid prices. Which is what 5hey should be at.
A rally car is limited numbers, but more like a work of art than the road going version. The truly look beautiful, and if it is link to a famous driver the value is priceless.

People are too obsessed with the value of their cars. Buy what you can afford, think it is now worth zero, enjoy in good health and if you ever sell it back this is a bonus.
If the price is too high, it is likely that having debt against it will cost even more with current interest rates.

The battery in the EV’s and hybrids will probably outlive the rest of the Car. People paying £100k over list for a GT product thinking they will only go up are living 3 to 4 years ago and now after the new toy has got boring they are now well under list as people move on to the next thing. Really special Cars that come with nostalgia 80s and 90s Cars have gone silly. You seem to have invested incredibly well and enjoy owning them. But people think investing in Cars driving it from new for a year then selling for a lot more I think these days have gone. Modern Cars just don’t have that attachment and mass produced. How many GT3 Cars are for sale.
    Love your collection.

I had a small turbo Escort Cosworth for a while. Everything was standard and I'd agree they're not brilliant as standard, I always thought it rolled too much. I think if modified they'd be a different proposition. I think Evo 6s still look good value in comparison. I know TMEs especially in red are higher but you can get standard Evo 6s for under £30k still.

Never buy a car as an investment. Buy if you can afford to sustain life after paying cash. Never finance. It is a waste of money to pay interest to own a depreciating asset. EV are not cars, they are transportation. And if EV are so good, why are they going down in value while ICE are going up? When a entry level EV car can run with a high dollar EV car you take away the differences we all love.
