  • Here's a quick walk around for my '85 VF1000R. I missed 2 riding seasons getting it to this stage. Everything but the gauges and the coils was either painted, powder coated, welded, removed, rewired, replaced, reconditioned, relocated, covered in carbon fiber, or polished. I still need to sort out the jetting and get(or make) a wind shield but that will have to wait. Time to ride now.
Here's a link to the build process...

I think you have captured what we remember as the glory days of the 1980s when the racing machines ruled the streets but were preserved in our minds. I could not wait to go riding.

I know it's a necro since the video is years old, but that bike is so sexy I thought I'd dig it up and hit it! Lol. Incredible job on your 1000R RVF-tribute. I was only able to get a Yoshimura slip on and a jet kit + K&N for my VF1000R. I see you're in NH. I lived in Southern VT in the late 80s early 90s. We might of passed each other if you used to go to the races in Louden. Again, great job. Wish I still had mine and the skills to create what you were able to do.

2 years well spent imo. Excellent work esp. since you are not a pro-builder, but I bet this would challenge the pros. Love the idea you built an oven etc. Excellent work.

Can I just say that this is a sweet ride. You took an great bike and stepped it up a bunch of notches. Your work looks spot on.
My 85 VF1000R is my daily ride, and I still trying to get all my ducks ($$$) in a row to restore/ modify my 86 VF1000R. Then I'll put them 'Riding Into History.org" annual bike show here in the Jacksonville FL.

awesome bike, love these. like what you did with the exhaust too, i never liked the taillights. have you considered one of those plate frames that has built in lights for more visibility?

A-mazing job...bike is absolutely beautiful! I know it was hard to cut up a classic like the VF1000, but you merged SEVERAL themes so seamlessly. I am truly inspired! I am in Boston and I see you are in NH, I would love to see this machine in person. Or bring her down to upcoming Japanese Bike Day 2013 at Larz Anderson Auto Museum - Brookline MA! Go to their site and check out the "Lawn Event" listing for Japanese Bike and Car Day 2013, and please give me a shout if you come!

    Hi..
I've read your post and I wonder about two things:
    * Which year swingarm did you use, and how much did you have to modify it?
    * Which front forks did you use and why?
    Thank you..
