Wow, I owned one of these in 1986, bought it new as a college graduation present to myself, kept it stock except for a custom exhaust and rode it for 9 years, when I traded it in for a 194 CBR900RR, now I so wish I had kept the bike. I loved mine. but yours is the coolest VF1000R I have ever seen or heard, the exhaust note brought tears to my eyes, thank you so much for putting this video up, wow! and thank you, you are an incredible bike builder!

WELL ON A GREAT JOB ON THE BIKE . HOPE U HAVE MANY A GOOD RIDE OUT ON IT. HERE'S A QUESTION WOULD A VF 1000R ENGINE FIT INTO ANY OF THE VFR 750 MODELS FRAMES IN THE SAME WAY A CBR 9OO FIREBLADE ENGINE CAN FIT IN A CBR 600 FRAME. JUST WONDERING DID HONDA MISS AN OPPORTUNITY THERE.

I know it's a necro since the video is years old, but that bike is so sexy I thought I'd dig it up and hit it! Lol. Incredible job on your 1000R RVF-tribute. I was only able to get a Yoshimura slip on and a jet kit + K&N for my VF1000R. I see you're in NH. I lived in Southern VT in the late 80s early 90s. We might of passed each other if you used to go to the races in Louden. Again, great job. Wish I still had mine and the skills to create what you were able to do.

Ha. I've got the bug too, oddly enough I have the same helmet and that's what started it. I bought a vf500 to match the helmet, now I think I'm going to go the vf1000 route, they are a much better looking bike.

Can I just say that this is a sweet ride. You took an great bike and stepped it up a bunch of notches. Your work looks spot on. My 85 VF1000R is my daily ride, and I still trying to get all my ducks ($$$) in a row to restore/ modify my 86 VF1000R. Then I'll put them 'Riding Into History.org" annual bike show here in the Jacksonville FL.

All that work in 2.5hrs is fast. I like the lift for engine and frame. I have an 86 vf1000r that needs to swap the engine and wire harness. Just a full restoration project.

I had an '85 back in the day, for about 10 years... the best thing I ever did to mine was going two teeth smaller on the countershaft sprocket, really woke it up off the line. That lowered the top speed to a bit over 145 (ask me how I know) but the difference in performance was amazing. I could drop it into 3rd from 5th dump the clutch at 65 and it would rise off the pavement (on it's own) at least three inches and blast off. Great bike, well worthy of the SuperBike appellation.

also was it tough getting the RC51 triples on the frame?

awesome bike, love these. like what you did with the exhaust too, i never liked the taillights. have you considered one of those plate frames that has built in lights for more visibility?

It's called Texmod. There are tutorials here on TH-cam on how to use it.
