Hey Chris! I just want to say, your ability to juggle filmmaking with fishing is incredible. Thank you for putting out these films for us. As a photographer myself, I always find it difficult to bring my camera out to make images while still enjoying my hobby (typically either rock climbing or fishing). I always end up compromising one or the other. Never stop! Always looking forward to your videos. Would be awesome to see a gear video from you one of these days if you’re ever keen on it!
Thanks so much! It's a ton of work, to be honest. Absolutely draining days on the water, but so fulfilling to wrap it all up with good fish and good footage shot. A gear video is something a few have asked about and does seem fun ... it's on the list!
Smallies are a blast to catch, and the patterns can be amazing. Chatfield is a killer spot, but I did great in the reservoir not the streams and rivers. I'll keep you posted if I find a local spot.
Thank you! Yeah, reservoirs just don't get me excited like some small water! I know up in Horsetooth by me the smallmouth fishing can be really good as well though!
@@FlickyFlies if you happen to make it out here, the North Umpqua is extremely beautiful and fly fishing only. It’s more of a trout/salmon River. The Steamboat Inn might be worth looking into. You could make a truly amazing Flicky Flies film here! :)
I hear ya but it's not easy to juggle capturing a ton of b-roll, catch fish, round out the story etc. Here's a good video showing off the fly. th-cam.com/video/QpZ5AfKQ2Vg/w-d-xo.html
@@FlickyFlies Thank you. I do want to say that your videos set the standard against which all others fall short. My comment was meant as a suggestion, not a criticism, but do understand that just a few seconds of "This is the fly I'll be using today." would be very well received.
No worries, and thank you! I think about it all the damn time when I'm out there on the water but sometimes I'm so spent that I don't wanna change up lenses and capture the flies and I'll just grab another pretty shot of my surroundings instead haha. It's something I'm definitely trying to get better about!@@JoeBtfzplk

Great video.
Appreciate it George!
Great day out there. That Small was a surprise. Fun video, Chris.
Yes it really was!! Man, I love them! Thanks for watching my friend.
Another awesome video Chris! Thanks for sharing your talent for film making and fishing!
Thanks Steve!
Another beautiful video Chris! That creek looked like a magical place with the vertical rocks and deep pools. Those multi-species days are always fun!
Thanks man! Yeah, those big cliffs dropping right into the water really were special!
South Umpqua in Oregon. Middle of summer, it’s loaded with smallmouth.
I'm gonna put it on the list! Thanks!

"If I could only fish with one fly for the rest of my life it would be a..." SHOW US THE FLY!

what rod were you using? did you get poison ivy?
Tenkara Rod Co. Rocky! I surprisingly didn't ... I think my body is done with getting poison ivy haha
I surprised there are too many water striders.
Ah! There was some water striders, also lots of smaller midges - is that what you're seeing?
@@FlickyFlies Yes, for example, at 7:00 7:27 7:45 8:20 8:40 of your video. It's far many than Japan.
