It needs to said that the Cardassians played a heavy role in the early Dominion successes. Not only was Dukat running the show very well, but the Cardassian forces, which at that point constituted probably 45% of their forces, were fighting extremely well. The Cardassians were always very tough and clever foes who knew exactly how to fight their enemies, being very familiar with the Federation and Klingon's doctrine, strengths and weaknesses. The thing that had held the Cardassians back, technological inferiority resulting in ships that were outmatched by the newer capital ships of Starfleet and the Klingons, had been rectified by the Dominion. Not only did the Joint Fleets present a well balanced force consisting of excellent attack ships and capital ships provided by the Jem Hadar, and the destroyers and cruisers of the Cardassians, but the Cardassian Fleet had received notable upgrades across the board. The Galor Type III was now very dangerous along with the even more powerful Keldons. It is not for nothing that the Dominion struggled whenever the Vorta ran the War directly. Dominion arrogance and inability to respect their enemies meant they applied brute force solutions to many battles where Cardassian led forces often used cunning and guile. In the end, Dominion arrogance for friend and foe alike, stemming from the Female Founder's disdain for all solids, led to the defeat of the Dominion.
The destruction of the Dominion listening post plays out like the Allies breaking the Enigma Code, with the enemy losing their advantage in the information/intelligence part of the war.
Better isn't the right word. Being more militant in a war is helpful. Having leaders that can mimic the oppositions' leaders is also helpful. Say what you will about Section 31, but they did what was necessary to balance such advantages. If it wasn't for Odo, losses on both sides would've been much higher & taken much longer for the AA to claim victory. Though I'm sure the Klingons would've had a rootin good time!
That isn’t true. They could still win or at least make it a pyrrhic victory for the allies. But having a despot that only care for themselves is not a good strategy kn any war.
@drhibas watch the ending. The dominion had a massive reinforcement coming through the wormhole. Writers wrote themselves into a corner and solved it with space magic followed by the power of friendship.
@ it’s not the ending. It’s almost two seasons left. They had to explain away that the Dominion didn’t draw upon an empire the size of a quadrant. I don’t think it was a cop out. And as I said despite this they still almost won when the Breen entered the war.
It’s not really a deus ex machina as the Prophets have been an established part of the show from the beginning, they didn’t just come out of nowhere to solve the Dominion fleet problem. Plus they have a history of getting involved in our plane of existence; the Orbs, sending visions, altering Zek, Akorem Lang etc, hell even Sisko’s entire existence is due to them which they obviously didn’t want to end so they did what they did to that fleet. Was it a satisfying end to that story arc? Not really, I’d have liked to see the Defiant try to go up against 1500 Dominion ships, but I do think it follows from established aspects of the series.

Absolutely loving this! I look forward to each new episode! They can't come soon enought!
Sisko was made adjutant to Admiral Ross, whose former adjutant was given command of the 7th tactical wing.
The Dominion war does play out a lot like ww2. early Dominion victories are much like the Germans blitzkrieg in the early stages
So ketracel white is the meth
@bennruda11 definitely it may even be worse as you stop taking the white you 💀

That was probably the point.

Would you consider putting the Dominion war into a separate playlist. I'm not sure which videos are part of the story.
Why didn't they do it earlier ???
Without all the plot armour and plot conveniences The Dominion would have won.
If the minefield did not get disarm, would the Allies won the war against the Dominion right there?
The dominion war had such a cop out ending. Literally a deus ex machina. Dominion loses purely because space gods deleted fleets.😂

Hey now, give some credit to Section 31.

Starfleet ( and allies ) won the war and lost the peace... how very Starfleet 🤨
117 ships is not huge, some battles had 500 to 600 Federation ships !
There was a Dominion force of about 1254 ships in the 'Favor The Bold' episode.
