    Human nature isn't real. We are the byproduct of the systems we're placed under. Even more developing in our mothers we're affected by the environmental changes. Is the environment were to change we would change. If we utilized are technologies such as AI Automation and autonomous technology to provide goods and services to all people without cost. Removing the need for money. Removing the desperation people feel. The behavior I'm feeling you need to commit crime or be greedy what to take from others covet power is no longer necessary even to the person who previously felt those feelings. All the laws in the world stop people's desperation. It's making those environmental factors non-existent that changes society.

    Honestly, the prominence of humanoid species and the whole progenitor "explanation" is one of the least believable and least scientific aspects of Star Trek, especially their being so many hybrids who are fertile themselves -- when as closely related species on Earth as horses and donkeys can't even achieve that, it pushes believability with alien life with presumably a completely different evolutionary history, no matter what happened 4 billion years ago. That's a lot of time to allow for genetic drift and the incompatibility that would imply. I understand it's because of the makeup limitations of the 1960s, and that Roddenberry thought it was more interesting for Spock to have a mixed heritage. But still, they could have left it at Spock, as a unique example only achieved through extreme medical intervention, instead of doubling down on the concept. Honestly, most of the human/hybrids would work perfectly well as characters if they had *just* been aliens. I personally would love to see more focus on the non-humanoid species, like the Tholians, Horta, Gorn, etc. Star Trek is getting better in that respect.

    • @jdsiv3
      @jdsiv3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      if I recall, as you said, Spock was considered a very exceptional case and required medical intervention both for his conception and birth - which makes sense. (this is one of the reasons the T'Pol / Tripp match up didn't make a lot of sense. Spock's father intentionally married an Earth woman as part of his role as a diplomat; it was the logical thing to do! Vulcans didn't really do 'love' matches.) I agree that the latter populating of the series with multiple hybrids didn't make a lot of sense. Even if they could (ahem) "mate", the viability of any offspring, and especially fertile offspring would be quite unlikely.

    Humans are genetically compatible with... Caitians?! That one surprises me. So... do they have fur? Or tails? Although I remember a novel that included an Andorian-Edosian hybrid (though I don't know if genetic manipulation was involved, or how many limbs they had). Infinite diversity in infinite combinations would yield some interesting outcomes.

    Can you make faction versus videos where you compare the species, technology, military, intelligence services and assets of the factions to determine who would win in a head on conflict with no interference? My suggestion the Klingon Empire vs the Romulan Star Empire both factions are at full strength.

    To be fair, we solids can be real bastards sometimes. But it's not like we have a monopoly on that. Armus was no saint. (And don't get me started on that cloud vampire!) But the people you really need to watch out for are the non-corporeals! Sure the Medusans are all right (if you don't look at them), and the Organians stopped a war (for a minute, then they promptly forgot about it). But most of them just want to possess your body, or feed off your emotions (or both) or go around corrupting children or turning them into superhuman jerks, or have hissy-fits and wipe out entire sentient species. And I wouldn't trust a Q as far as I could kick one!

    If you think about it, the Federation, Starfleet in particular, couldn't function with a money based system. Think about it, how could you build a Galaxy Class starship, for example, if you had to pay for everything? The cost of that alone, much less a whole fleet, would bankrupt any civilization based on a monetary system.

    The Borg all the way. One cube eliminated 39 ships before it kicked out the sphere and went time travel. The Dominion/Breen alliance did loose in that war against the Feds/Roms/Klingons, so really an antagonising enemy, but not on the same level as the Borg.

    Please use a real narrator for all your future videos. The mis-pronouciations of the AI voice is quite grating in this one, like "Captain Pick-kard", and takes viewers out of the video. While the Federation's currency-less society is a remarkable dream, and I could certainly see Earth evolving towards such a system, especially after WWIII wipes out current economies, I'm a little surprised that currency of some sort isn't used for "extras". Like, food, shelter, clean water, education, health care and other necessities could and should be completely de-monitized, but a luxury apartment decked out entirely in holo-emitters, for example, is probably something that you should be shelling out credits for. Though when necessities are taken care of, maybe the very greed for luxuries goes down accordingly. Either way, Star Trek's future, where regular people *don't* have to work themselves to death to line the pockets of a tiny minority, is a very hopeful one, and one of my favourite things about the franchise. It dares to imagine a better future in a genre full of dystopias.

    Hands down the Borg were the biggest threat. I think it's naive to assume that Janeway wiped out the whole collective as well, as we *know* the Borg will cut off infected cubes/drones that pose a threat to the Collective. I bet they're just biding their time in the Delta Quadrant, concentrating on other assimilation priorities, perhaps rebuilding from Janeway's virus. On another note, your narrator sounds a LOT like Corey from the Star Wars channel, Corey's Datapad. Is it the same guy?

    Solid vid per usual. Here’s my take: Janeway proved the Borg could be somewhat negotiated with. At very least for a temporary cease fire. What more that could have lead to is unknown, the collective’s greatest strength was adapting after all. They’d never been rolled in ANY conflict, in ANY sense before the war with the Alpha/Beta quadrants. Voyager showed they’d at the very least acknowledged that, and to some degree were wary of outright hostilities versus either feds or that one alien species who was also rolling them for a while there. They showed they are capable of retreating and self preservation to a degree. Though yes it is true their aims are brutal and single minded, they can’t be so daft to not realize even if they decide to “make peace” with the federation(ie, ignore and cordon them in essentially), there’s an entire galaxy of sentient species to assimilate…in the meantime. I think therefore the real biggest threat was the Dominion. If not for Odo, and few other “horse shoes up there you know what’s”, I mean…we were f’d. Either collapse the wormhole, or roll over because the dominion was just dominating everyone until diplomacy over their disease and Odo’s pleas won out. Had Odo been off’d by the Cardies during the occupation? Or a few officers not been assigned to DS9 or one specifically died at Wolf 359? lol…game over man. We won a 1v1 fight against the Borg. Very little help, beat em back. The dominion? No. We lost. Then dues ex machina saved us. Remember, they demo’d the joint cardi/Romulan fleet. No effort. Without Odo giving the genetic sample to make the virus, we had no hope against a species that wanted no ground given, no peace brokered because they’d “been there done that” for millinia already. Borg are no joke. But the Founders literally manipulated natural evolution to create a galactic empire.

  • @lerneanlion

    Question: Will it be the better idea to bring unity to the known spaces by using the Borg Collective as target for raids? You know, like how the Abbasid Caliphate did back then to the Roman Empire for a few centuries after the Umayyad Caliphate failed to take Constantinople for the second time. And with raids from multiple fronts, the Borg Collective shall be put on the defensive and need to constantly rethink again and again to deal with these raids.

    • @PutYourQuarterUpGaming
      @PutYourQuarterUpGaming 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Problem there, as I’m thinking about it, is that the Romans were a conventional foe, that was beholden to same pressures, and vulnerabilities as those dynasties were. The borg are completely alien in respects to any of the other sentient species. Raids against them would likely be risky and offer a null gain (versus pilfering a rich roman settlement right), might even further divide and demoralize those involved.

    • @lerneanlion

      @@PutYourQuarterUpGaming Thank you for pointing this out. I only thought of forcing the Borg Collective to constantly keep rethinking again and again. But when it comes to the loots, the materials that made them shall sufficed, right?
