Nice (useful) video. I have a model B that I bought in 2010 for the same reason, budget. It had been well cared for, but I've no idea how much it had been used. I have put over 6 million meters on mine and it is a marvel of consistency and reliability. My experience with the company is the same as yours, great people, service and machines. There is also a huge, world wide community of C2 rowers. Thanks, and enjoy.
Thanks so much for this video. I obtained a Model A and was feeling very intimidated by the shock cord replacement. Your video was perfect and also very entertaining. Love the dogs and various other production disclaimers and caveats. Swapped out the shock cord on my Model D on the same day, and can say I actually preferred the process on the Model A, among some other perks of the o.g. machines.
Thank you for posting. This is very helpful. I bought an erg a few years ago to train for a reunion row and chose the Model B over the later models because the B looks like a work of art to me. If i were training a team, I would buy the latest models, but for my own use and in my own home, I'll take the B. WIth the help of C2's parts shop and videos like these, I can keep going strong -- at least until the next time I get sick of erging. Thanks.
Concept 2 has great resources on the website but frustratingly “half assed” descriptions that don’t show enough photos etc. This is very useful, thanks!
Thank you so much for this video. I was having a hard time finding any Model B maintenance videos until I found yours, which was exactly the information I was looking for. Thank you!
Omg … I searched and searched and searched and all I could find were how to fix you postures videos .. nothing with chain videos … it’s not the same mode but this helps me so much … TH-cam suggestions 3 days later for the win!
Thanks for the video, and while I have changed one of these years ago (many million kilometers ago), I had to do it again, and had forgotten about it. Your video was a great reminder. Terrific.
thank you, thank you! I was was just gifted a Model B that has been well loved and I was feeling intimidated about this process but your video makes it feel much more possible :-)
Excellent video. I’m really having a model lay that I picked up on Facebook marketplace. Glad I saw your video before I even started to disassemble anything
Thanks for your instructional video! I’m debating between assembling new components on existing skewer or buying the whole new assembly for twice the cost. I have one question for you: did you notice any bend to your original or the new skewer bar? I have a bend in mine (if facing forward and looking down at the bar, the bar has a slight bend at midway and to the right, away from the traveling pulley). After reading the maintenance pamphlet, I’m convinced now that bend is supposed to be there and is normal. I’d hate to order a new bar and find that bend was normal all along! Thanks for any comments.
As far as I can recall my new skewer had a bend in the bar, I assumed to make space for the traveling pulley. The reason I decided to replace the whole assembly was mostly that this was my first repair to the rower and I just didn't feel comfortable swapping out that many parts. After reading the process to assembly one out of new components, I was worried I would make a mistake and not know where/how to start troubleshooting, and I decided to spend the money to save myself that potential problem.
@@palepomegranate2052 Thank you! That makes complete sense why you went that route. I'm tempted to as well. I bought my Model B cheap and disassembled due to a bad shock cord, and found the bent skewer bar. But now what I thought was a problematic bar is likely normal and good to use. Thank you for your feedback. So now I'm ready to attempt assembling new parts on my original skewer.
Big help. I thought this would be a very technical replacement, thanks for your input.
I just did a maintenance check our Model B. I replaced the seat rollers and the bungee. Glad you made the video as it was a good quality check for me.

It's so good to hear that you've had a similar experience with the company and your model B - and wow! 6 million meters!! That's amazing!

Thanks so much go this! I bought an old model b a few months ago which desperately needs a new pulley assembly. This video will be a great help!

I am so glad you posted this (even if I had to watch several times) as there are NO model B repair vids. Thank you so much...Now off to replace skewer
