One of my sisters gifted me with a Rockwell R1 for Christmas 2021. I absolutely love it,especially with an ASTRA blade. I don't have that problem that you mentioned with mine. It doesn't stick when opening at all. Anyway I subbed to your channel and I am enjoying the content.
Thanks for joining, glad you are enjoying my ramblings. It might just be a QC issue with mine. I'm the lucky guy that if there is "bad" one in the bunch I get it.
You would think with the name they've made with razors their blades would be at least half way decent. They feel like they were hammered out of scrap metal and what ever edge they had after forging that's what they went with.
@@shavingwithpegleg3813 I saw your video on that razor. I've never used the 22r. But I have the 74r and it's never loosened up on me. It always stays tight.
I don't understand why they sell the R1. It really doesn't fit their brand IMO. I question whether they even manufacture it. The 2C should be their budget option although one could argue if you're already spending $30 for the handle and one plate, why not spend the extra $20 for all three plates? I have a 6C and 6S and they are fantastic razors, definitely top tier shave quality wise. I haven't tried their blades and this certainly doesn't make me want to. Thanks for the video!
I agree. They made a good name for themselves with the 6C, why ruin it with sub par products? The blades are absolutely horrible,. I'd be embarrassed to have my name on them.
They make the R1 because it's an affordable, mild, easy to use entry into wet shaving. It's also not made by Rockwell but a Chinese company called Baili. It's basically what Van Der Hagan and Vikings Blade and bunch of other companies use. But I've heard Rockwell has a slightly more aggressive head compared to the others.
Rockwell razors are fine. But their blades aren't that sharp. I was very disappointed with them. I use Parker, Gillette, Derby Extra and Premium, Astra and Rapira Platinum Lux Blades all of which give me excellent shaves. The Rockwell Blades remind me of Shark Blades. Just not sharp enough.
I have 2 Parker razors and they are awesome

Glad to see I’m not alone on the Rockwell blades lol.. they were a nope for me too. Great shave once you loaded a good blade in there.

@@shavingwithpegleg3813 you’re not wrong… it would suit them better to ship with better blades, or no blades at all..
Have you tried any of the Parker TTO razors? They're a bit more aggressive then this one. But the handles are longer and heavier.
Yes, I have one, good shaver actually.

@@RobertNES816 I might have just gotten lucky and got the bad one of that production run too.
