for number 10 there is a faster way to solve it. you can plug in the equation g(x)= g(-x). and if this is true then the equation would be reflected off the y-axis, thus giving the same y value. Or you can see that the equation is a parabola and 4 and -4 would have the same value
nice thinking. that saves a good bit of time. the way i thought of was realizing x was power to an even number meaning that the result would be positive even when raising a negative.

Smashed my SAT. Had to come up with some of my own tricks like "Plugging in the given answers available as X" to see if it is true or false. That is one of my bag of tricks that works for those of you who have never tried that. You will find the SAT will try & make problems look much more complex than they actually are like that second problem it gives you a square root trying to trip you up over it.
@@ashesp8440 it sucked😖. I was half asleep try the whole test and I was rushing. When got home I took a nap for 4 hours and now i have to do online classes 😫😫
@@dakshirb1906 Also funny you reminded me of this video today of all days because I took the test exactly a month ago today. You probably don't care but I just thought it was cool lol.
I should mention that problem 10 has a trick that would allow one to get the answer without much calculation. g(x)=ax^2+24 is an even function. Graphically, this means g(x), when reflected over the y-axis, is the same graph. In function notation, this fact is represented as g(x)=g(-x) for all x. g(4)=8 g(-4)=g(4)=8. There is no need to find the value of a in this particular instance.
@@alexia.vachhani No, the shortcut I exploited is only applicable for problem 10. The technique shown in the video is a general procedure for any problem of similar type. I answered your question regarding determining the evenness of a function in my original response, but I will answer it formally anyway. A function f is even if and only if f(x)=f(-x) for all x. For example, suppose f(x) = x^2 - 4. f(x) = x^2 - 4 and f(-x) = (-x)^2 - 4 = x^2 - 4. f(x) = f(-x) ∴ f is an even function. As another example, suppose f(x) = 1/x. f(x) = 1/x and f(-x) = 1/(-x) = -(1/x) f(x) ≠ f(-x) ∴ f is not an even function.
So easy. The last one you should say x≥0 and then when you square things up you should say |2x|=200 or |x|=100 or x= ±100 and you would reject the negative answer as x≥0. I think this is a more formal way of resolving the exercise.
15 is incorrect. You were right but stopped and found values for a and b but the question asks for the values of c. Great video otherwise, sir! This is the first video I watched for my PSAT practice which is next Wednesday and I am in my junior year and I can definitely say it helped set a base for my understanding. Thank you!
Really, and this goes for all sections of the SAT test, you just need the knowledge. That’s what the SAT is testing; do you have the knowledge, do you know the formulas, do you know how to solve these problems? As long as you know a great deal of math formulas and principals (like functions or systems of equations), then you’ll be fine.

This is two years later, so I hope this at least helps some people in the future. The questions should be pretty similar every year. The competition for college can be pretty tough, and the price is definitely expensive. And this is just a standardized test because the schools themselves can vary greatly. For question 9, why do u multiply by -2 for x+2y=-19 ?
To get negative 4 y. So when I add the two equations the y terms go away.

I love it and i did watch the whole video at 2 am 😅 because i was intersested and i wanted to know more about it .All thanks to you.🌼

I should mention that problem 10 has a trick that would allow one to get the answer without much calculation.
g(x)=ax^2+24 is an even function. Graphically, this means g(x), when reflected over the y-axis, is the same graph. In function notation, this fact is represented as g(x)=g(-x) for all x.
g(4)=8
g(-4)=g(4)=8.
There is no need to find the value of a in this particular instance.
Does this apply everytime? How can I tell if a function is even?
@@alexia.vachhani No, the shortcut I exploited is only applicable for problem 10. The technique shown in the video is a general procedure for any problem of similar type.
I answered your question regarding determining the evenness of a function in my original response, but I will answer it formally anyway.
A function f is even if and only if f(x)=f(-x) for all x.
For example, suppose f(x) = x^2 - 4.
f(x) = x^2 - 4 and f(-x) = (-x)^2 - 4 = x^2 - 4.
f(x) = f(-x) ∴ f is an even function.
As another example, suppose f(x) = 1/x.
f(x) = 1/x and f(-x) = 1/(-x) = -(1/x)
f(x) ≠ f(-x) ∴ f is not an even function.
@@alexia.vachhani f(-x)=f(x)
So easy. The last one you should say x≥0 and then when you square things up you should say |2x|=200 or |x|=100 or x= ±100 and you would reject the negative answer as x≥0. I think this is a more formal way of resolving the exercise.
If you do the ncert level of indian maths of class 11th and 12th , you would tell that the sat paper was like a cakewalk
15 is incorrect. You were right but stopped and found values for a and b but the question asks for the values of c. Great video otherwise, sir! This is the first video I watched for my PSAT practice which is next Wednesday and I am in my junior year and I can definitely say it helped set a base for my understanding. Thank you!
Thanks for this. Im taking it for the second time this saturday 😔
You’re welcome. Good luck.
Bro I thought sat was calc material, lmao this is going to be laughably easy.
👍
Really, and this goes for all sections of the SAT test, you just need the knowledge. That’s what the SAT is testing; do you have the knowledge, do you know the formulas, do you know how to solve these problems? As long as you know a great deal of math formulas and principals (like functions or systems of equations), then you’ll be fine.
Is there science in sat ?
Thank you Mr Steve!! I got a psat test tomorrow and this really helped me
You’re welcome. Good luck.

multiple choices can be pretty hard sometimes
@@virenderparasariya İ dont agree because When you have multiple choices you got some people to handle it too so youre ready for it.Also this test is so freakin easy in my country 8th grade kids just do tests like that for practice. And we have an exam called ''LGS'' ps:8th grade kids do that test.İts 10 times hard than SAT maths. But America is a country where everybody come for graduate. So that makes sense tho

How did it goooo
Awesome video, the explanations helped a lot! I am still confused on 10 though. How do you know when to plug 4 in for x and why?
Because it tells you that g(4)=8 and 4 is in place of x. g(4) is g(x) where 4 is the place of x so you know to plug in 4 for the equation.
As a JEE aspirant......i wish jee had these questions.....i would jave definitely topped....🥹🥹🥹😭😭😭
I never sat (no pun intended) the SAT. And finished high school 15 years ago. I just want to sharpen up my math because I feel pretty dumb now. I used to be very good at math back in school. I got the first 7-8 easily but then it got harder and couldn't solve most of them. But then after the answers were told, it kinda clicked. It all made sense and I understand it better now than I did back in school. Maybe you're a good teacher

I’m from India, I really needed to know what a SAT paper looks like as I’m planning to give it next year. Thanks a lot, sir! All the very best to everybody who’s giving it :) I wish you pass with flying colours...
PS: Ig the competition is tougher than the actual paper... Do Correct me if I’m wrong.
Also, do questions repeat in SAT in papers of different years?
yeah the questions are all very similar in each test from different years
This is two years later, so I hope this at least helps some people in the future. The questions should be pretty similar every year. The competition for college can be pretty tough, and the price is definitely expensive. And this is just a standardized test because the schools themselves can vary greatly. You could be taking a class like AP Calc BC, but it’s not a required class and you won’t see anything crazy on the SAT.
You are the best 👌 👍
Plus I love ur voice
