I'm in favor of the Arkansas State Troopers performing PIT maneuvers. Drivers are responsible to hold themselves updated on the state law when driving. Remember ~ it's a privilege. So just like taking that initial written exam, in order to maintain your privilege you are responsible for knowing the law. Just because you put on your blinker or hazard lights and not slow down to a stop, or slow down on the shoulder to a safe place for you (the driver) and the officer it is the driver's responsibility. If it appears that you are fleeing then you are fleeing. Perhaps the automobile insurance companies need to hold their policy holders to a new minimum standard proofing you now the responsibilities of operating the motor vehicle before getting insurance or a renewed policy. Kinda like the special insurance coverage for those that have points against them and their drivers license, or the SR21 program. Once again folks - it's not a right - it is a privilege (period).
I have seen many of these pursuits used in this report segment including the pregnant woman fleeing ASP, and the protocol before a TVI is utilized there is clear confirmed communication, dash cam evidence assessment most times from multiple police units including suspect details and identity ect... before the TVI is performed. Arkansas State Patrol are well known nation wide as one of the most professional examples of well trained LEOs in the country!

Her story doesn't check out if you really sit down and watch the video and listen to her excuses. She passed up dozens of places where she could have safely pulled over, yet refused to do so.
If the number of PIT maneuvers is on the increase it is because the number of people who are running are increasing. I love that the officers are so highly trained they can effectively disable a vehicle without much, if any, damage to their own cruiser. This news channel is trying to make us feel bad for the criminals but sorry it won’t sway me.
The guy that died in west Memphis stole that vehicle then robbed a bank at gun point, all in West Memphis and tried to make it back to Memphis where he could not be pursued.
As a Brit, I love watching US cop videos, the PIT manoeuvres make great viewing! Please keep it up ASP! UK police are effective (for our criminals) but a little too nice!
It started as a "traffic stop." If we out here in "drivers license and insurance land" see lights on us, we pull over. If we have to, we get a ticket. We want these people off the road, and off quickly. They are criminals if they flee.
The pursuits in Los Angeles often involve two helicopters, 24 ground units, high speeds and slow crawls and often the driver being pursued just pulls over because he's tired and hungry and bored. to tears.
Such a waste to back up traffic for miles because of unnecessary standoffs and pursuits that often take several hours. Hmmm... I wonder why taxes are so high there?
@@absolutezero6423 Taxes are because of democrap policies and agendas not because of choosing not to possibly kill people over traffic violations. They amount of money over medical expenses and vehicle damage and property damage after a PIT is astronomical. ASP PITs a car that crashes into another car and both go off road into street signs and guardrails and power lines. Taxpayers are paying to repair most of that not ASP. Not the driver that’s killed. Then most families of dummies killed by law enforcement sue… they sue because they had a relative that was a dummy and the cops should pay for causing the death because nowadays the criminals become victims and the cops become the criminal. Taxes in California being high ain’t because of chase policies.
Media going in on trying to stop ASP from performing PITs and to allow suspects/criminals even more advantage than they already have. Keep using the PIT, ASP.
Letting criminals get away because they run is wrong headed as is blaming the police for creating an unsafe condition. If your not a criminal, stop when you see the lights. Driving away to find a what you think is a safer spot is fleeing. The comments here being so lopsided in favor of the PIT policy tells me the majority of us understand these points.
These thugs will never stop until they realize they're not going to get away with it. Some of these felons have their kids in the car! It's very easy NOT TO RUN. ASP is doing a tremendous public service.
Arkansas, Florida and Georgia are the 3 states to NEVER run from the police. They will chase you until wheels fall off. He did that to himself. Good job blue
There is no reason to ‘defend’ PIT maneuvers. Don’t run and you won’t be pitted. I am all for it and thanks for the videos State Police! Especially Trooper Byrd! 🇺🇸
0:56 This isn't realistic by any means. I doubt that people who flee police will have desire to suppress their sense of desperation to the point where they will not flee. If deterrence was that effective, this world would have basically no crime anywhere since people would be too afraid to even attempt such things.
If the law breakers pit where innocent driver dont get caught or they dont pit the wrong car do it but they need to hold these law breaking cops accountable when they pit the wrong car or catch innocent driver in the cross hairs
Colonel Harar is either mistaken or a not so very good liar. I've watched too many APS video''s where the driver attempting to escape made it across the bidge into Tennessee and in every case, once the fleeing driver was out of Arkansas, the ASP trooper called off the pursuit. Arkansas needs to build a "gate" prior to the bridge to bring all traffic to a stop. That way the fleeing suspect can't get away.
I defend Arkansas use of the PIT maneuver. The longer LEO's let these criminal drivers run, the more of a chance the public may be hurt. They must be stopped as soon as possible, and Arkansas troopers are the very best at it in the entire country.
Incredible precision and skill displayed by the Arkansas State Police in executing PIT maneuvers! The level of training and expertise required to immobilize a suspect vehicle while minimizing risks to both the officers and the public is truly commendable. This video sheds light on the intense reality of police pursuits and the split-second decisions officers must make to ensure public safety.
They have pitted innocent people they mistook for the fleeing suspect. They have pitted suspects sending them into and seriously injury innocent people on the roadway. Nothing wrong with the PIT but ASP has a poor history of judicious use.
The woman suing claims she was looking for a safe place to stop. That is not your choice when you see lights behind you. One could make that claim and drive until out of gas. The officer initiates lights where they feel it's safe for them to make a stop. Hope she loses.
Actually it's responsible for both parties to find a safe place to pull over, after the officer makes first contact, ivecseen many accidents where people pull over on a blind corner and the officer and person are in great danger of being involved in an accident. Especially when us big rigs are there. Those flashing lights blind us due to our height
From what I've been able to gather, the Grappler is not a cure-all because it has limitations. For example, the police vehicle has to be heavier than than the vehicle it is pursuing. So far, I've only seen it installed on Tahoes. Unfortunately, the size of the Tahoe that allows it to have the Grappler works against it when it comes to keeping up with a fast car.
@289Mustang67 I haven't even seen it tested in the southeast. Several departments use it in the southwest, but I believe that the inventor lives in AZ. or at least the general area. It's advertising, he's going to need to demonstrate the product and maybe put one out on loan for testing. Maybe graph 📊 out car repair costs from PITs vs. Grapple costs per year. Something, there has gotta be a better way.
If a person is actually running from the police, then a PIT is justified. However, they nearly killed that pregnant woman for just doing exactly what the driver education handbook says to do. She slowed down, went to the right lane, turned on her hazard lights and looked for a safe place to pull over because the shoulder was not wide enough where she was.
3:11 That case has been settled. She won. They even had to change policy as a result. They used to have discretion to just do their own thing and pit if they felt necessary. Now they need permission from a boss. If you watch the whole video of that clip, it’s pretty bad. She is driving along at a constant speed of maybe 55 mph or so. She was initially speeding, but then reduced her speed and had her hazards on. She was looking for an exit or “safe” place to stop. She was pitted and arrested. The trooper said she was fleeing. She said she was seeking a safe spot, the trooper said that’s not a thing, she has to stop right away. According to the law though, what she did was fine and by the book.
This is just from what I have heard from lawyers but even if you are looking for a safe place to stop, you can still get the fleeing charge. While you are required to stop and even allowed to look for a "safe" place to stop, that doesn't mean you can just keep driving while looking for your personal idea of a "safe" place. A shoulder on a highway road can be considered a safe place. If it is pitch black outside and you don't feel safe stopping there, that doesn't mean that you can just keep driving while looking for a better place to stop while expecting the cop following you to know you are looking for a better place to stop. I don't believe the ability to look for a "safe" place to stop is following the law (each state can differ) but following the expectations of the law. Willfully not stopping for law enforcement can be grounds for fleeing and the consequences that it brings.
That is so dangerous and they know! I can understand they chasing a murderer! But a person for a traffic stop is crazy! Just take the plant number and let them Go! The police are putting innocent people in danger cause they don't care they just want to get they man 😢😢😢
Just like some states won't chase motor cycles, guess what happens? Thats right, they run! The same will happen with passenger vehicles. If it's not safe where you pull over, the officer would and should tell you where to move to! But this problem has shown that even some of the public are showing safety concerns not only for themselves but for the officers as well!

@@boijaden123 😂🤣🤣How freaking sensitive are you? And sometimes people die wearing seat belts in car crashes....so don't wear seat belts? Jesus....your headspace is soooooo painful.
Tell that to the two old people in that Cadillac who the ASP pitted the shit out of and then held at gunpoint and then it turned out to be the wrong vehicle, or didn't you see that video?
👍❗️
The word you’re looking for is “break”, not brake. And coincidentally, this story is about brakes not being used
simple don't run. if you run you taking a chance of dying.
JUSTIFIED. THEY BROKE THE LAW. DO STUPID THINGS, WIN STUPID PRIZES.
Yep ❗️👍
What law was broken? Speeding, then not pulling over? Punishable by death on the road? Got it, thanks
@@TheFrogfeeder Well, if you take off from ASP then the law is called eluding, which is a felony in Arkansas - they will get prison time. You think continuing to speed 20 over and have ASP call backup and have half the county responding to you to get you to stop at your own convenience is really a good option? People don't just run from police unless something else is going on. Take your ticket and move on with life - it's called actually having accountability. You should learn about it

The dangers of this pursuit? The danger is the criminal that decides to evade police orders and put others in danger!! 🙌🏼👏🏼👏🏼💯 don’t came with the bs and try to stop the law enforcement to do their job .. California trying to expand their criminal defense on others State 👍🏼
There is something in common most of these pursuits share. But no one wants to talk about it.
Saggin
The elephant in the room.
Yep you noticed that too ❗️👍
yeah the ones they show.....
😒
Yeah the white woman fleeing?
Apparently some people need help understanding the nature of the concept of consequences
...thank our Public School Systems...
I think more and more drivers are driving recklessly than in years past. Thanks ASP for trying to do something about it!
Don’t run from ASP and you have nothing to worry about.
That pregnant woman wasn't fleeing the police.
She wasn't fleeing
@@rhettbaldwin8320no you're wrong she was fleeing and she was refusing to pull over
@@daisy1686she 100% was fleeing. Yes she turned on her hazard lights, which is literally not a thing it's an urban legend. Secondly she passed up literally dozens of safe places to pull over. She thought she was special and that's why she got pitted
The only reason that pregnant woman got a settlement, was because they didn't want to keep fighting it and the jury would feel sympathy for her. She thought she was special.
Works for me!
It started as a "traffic stop." If we out here in "drivers license and insurance land" see lights on us, we pull over. If we have to, we get a ticket. We want these people off the road, and off quickly. They are criminals if they flee.
The few times I have had a policeman turn on his lights for me to pull over, I have. Not one time have I been pitted.
It really is amazing how many people don't understand this very simple concept
It’s always them TN tags more specificity Memphis Shelby county smh
Hahah they usually run out of gas because the prices so high. Rare to steal a car with a full tank
What do you want them to do? Beg for the runners to pull over? Criminals mock society's laws. We need more police like this. They get shit done.
Media going in on trying to stop ASP from performing PITs and to allow suspects/criminals even more advantage than they already have. Keep using the PIT, ASP.
Right on. The media never met a criminal they didn't love or a cop they didn't hate.
They tried in Georgia and GSP said hold my beer. LOL
We wish all states followed Arkansas's lead.
GSP is right up there as well, check out State boyzzz
Letting criminals get away because they run is wrong headed as is blaming the police for creating an unsafe condition. If your not a criminal, stop when you see the lights. Driving away to find a what you think is a safer spot is fleeing. The comments here being so lopsided in favor of the PIT policy tells me the majority of us understand these points.
These thugs will never stop until they realize they're not going to get away with it. Some of these felons have their kids in the car! It's very easy NOT TO RUN. ASP is doing a tremendous public service.
Absolutely ❗️👍
Probably shouldn’t pit anyone with kids in the car though. Hope that’s not happening.
@LittleRockElevators yep. Seeing it or having it reported. Are there currently any steps to check for that?
Their training is phenomenal!
If only there was a way to avoid being pitted by the ASP.
Arkansas, Florida and Georgia are the 3 states to NEVER run from the police. They will chase you until wheels fall off. He did that to himself.
Good job blue
Criminals beware, our trooper's are committed to the public trust.
Don't come to Arkansas and break the law!!!
God bless our trooper's
There is no reason to ‘defend’ PIT maneuvers. Don’t run and you won’t be pitted. I am all for it and thanks for the videos State Police! Especially Trooper Byrd! 🇺🇸
I've been watching one of the other Troopers pretty closely as well.... Tre Davis...he's another Byrd. Damn, those guys have balls of steel...
How is about trooper Amber Cass. She is one of the Top Gun of the ASP troopers too.
TVI wouldn't be necessary if the criminals didn't commit crime.
Run and take your chances. Not my concern. They are the stupid ones.
It's a death sentence without a trial. Since when does fleeing carry a death sentence ? 2 speeding cars aren't safer than 1.
we love ASP tactics, the troopers in my state have been neutered
I admit Arkansas rocking
Bab we ain’t playing 💪🏻
How much money did the victims of the " wrong car being pitted " get as a settlement ???
Bring this to California!
Get the PIT numbers from Florida Highway Patrol & Georgia State Patrol also North Carolina State Highway Patrol
And Georgia.
Why
I mean, should they maybe confirm with certainty that there are no children or victims in the vehicle or trunk before using this tactic?
Sounds like Arkansas cops should be the example for how cops should be across the country.
Why can't they use grapplers? They would be safer than this
Colonel Harar is either mistaken or a not so very good liar.
Don't run from Arkansas State Troopers
nobody blames the runner just the trooper just stop
According to the media, the criminal is ALWAYS the victim. Excellent work ASP!
This Nicole was looking for a large pay day. She was fleeing. PERIOD. SHE was guilty.
Where’s state trooper Byrd at! No shout out?!?!
We all know every police officers wants to play hero, and be the badass of the day.
we support the asp stop bitching about them
no we do not
Imagine they do this research on GSP the numbers would be DIABOLICAL 😂😂😂😂
Keep doing the pit
💪 🇺🇸 keep up great work troopers pregnant lady was at fault she could have pulled over if she wanted too
Yea, safer way was to just come to a complete stop.
FAFO. Love watching their videos. Dont run and you have zero to worry about
Arkansas and Georgia state police got the best policies
They have pitted innocent people they mistook for the fleeing suspect. They have pitted suspects sending them into and seriously injury innocent people on the roadway. Nothing wrong with the PIT but ASP has a poor history of judicious use.
Yes, we all know of that one incident. It was mentioned in the video.
What the handbook said and the guidelines for state police were 2 different things
Complete hogwash. Lights come on immediately not miles down the road when the officer thinks it is safe.
@@darkstorminc data has shown that police do know when when it is safe to stop on the highway, it’s never safe
Of course they defend. Narcissist think they are judge jury and executioner
I support Trooper Byrd and the Arkansas State Police
Bullshit! Why do your Officer's still pursue 120 - 130 miles per hour after they've lost complete site of the vehicle they were pusueing?
They don’t have the right to endanger everyone else to get their man; it’s not worth it, simple
Real simple. Don't run from the police. *Problem solved*
Only problem is...There is no safe tactic
Innocent people get hurt.
play games and win the prize... criminals need to know they are not safe.
Cops with 85 IQs being trained by ones with 75 IQs to play with 6000 lb bumper cara at 100 mph. What could possibly go wrong?
2 of them weren't running out of this report. We the People allow this to happen.
If they had the "Grappler" they wouldn't have many chases. They wouldn't need to do the pit maneuver.
I love how he says we are always looking for new equipment and techniques, and yet the Grappler has been available for over a decade now. 😂
The PIT is way safer than the grappler. When it come to suspects firing at officers during chases.
The grappler has many limitations in it's usage. You have to have specific conditions and more often than not, you don't have them.
I'm 100% in support of the ASP not allowing citizens to flee law enforcement at their discretion.
Arkansas sets the standard. Keep up the excellent work.
Woman who file lawsuit should look in the mirror! Lights were on even siren! She refuses to STOP! SHE CHOOSE TO DISOBEYED THE LAWS!
She put her hazards on. She slowed down. She was doing what the drivers manual explained. What she did was 100% lawful.
Was the cop that PITed the wrong car held accountable, or was he just allowed to retire?
