Excellent video. I changed my clutch using this video every step of the way. It made an intimidating job very manageable. One thing I didn't find on the video was the process of reattaching a flywheel, but everything else was there. Getting the transmission to fit back on the engine required help from someone who had more experience than me. Using longer bolts to help guide the transmission into place was helpful. Thanks for all your work and patience.
I like your videos, well detailed without babble. I would suggest editing out or lower the sound when you use your impact. Keep up the good work. Also would you know where I could find a good vid for a 09 chevy aveo clutch replacement kit? I noticed you didn't have one.
Did my clutch a few days ago and I’m having trouble trying to start it. Everything is where it should be and my anti theft light is going off. I tried to reprogram it and nothing. Any ideas?
The passenger side subframe/control arm/frame bolt spinning is a common problem with these cars. I ran into this and it was a nightmare to fix. Also on Cobalts with rust and corrosion the starter studs like to shear off.
Most shops won’t allow you to bring your own parts and if they do there’s no warranty on work. But labors right around $800 with cost of oem parts being about $700. Not including taxes and whatever else.
Bet he charged a arm & a leg plus a head for that job. Can't imagine him taking less than 1000-1500 for all that. Gotta say for as experienced as he may seem, I didn't see him use a torque wrench correctly once. Not sure if he understands the geometry of one.
this is a drawn out way of saying if your clutch goes out on your chevy cobalt then just junk the car. a old worn out chevy cobalt is worth what? maybe $500? a clutch replacement is what $3000-$4000 for parts and labor? I got my 2009 XFE 2.2 Cobalt brand new at the dealership and out the door with tax title and license it was just under $10,000. so spending any decent amount of money on the old gurl just seems pointless. It's a shame really cause old Meg (car is named after meg from family guy) has taken me without fail all over the USA, from beaches to mountains, through wind, rain, snow, and ice and she never failed me once even with about a quarter million miles on her. looks like i will have to finish her off old yeller style 😥
This is why I will NEVER again buy a FWD vehicle with a manual transmission. Insanely complicated (and expensive) compared to the ease of changing this in a RWD. It costs almost as much as replacing the entire transmission, which is supposed to be the benefit of buying a manual (less prone to transmission failure). You combine this with the hassle of driving a manual (especially in traffic) and the much lower resale value and there is no reason to buy a manual these days, especially on these cheap, unreliable cars. Crazy amount of rust on the frame of this thing too! Also, this video is a little over an hour long. Shops charge 7.5 hrs labour for this, which from my phoning around here is around $900 CAD. I am going to assume that a lot has been cut out of this video and it takes a lot longer than this? Or are the shops even bigger crooks than I thought? 🤔

My Clutch gave out a Month ago, and this genuinely makes me happy to see!
How many miles were in the clutch?
This video is awesome! I used it as a guide to replace the clutch on my 2006 Cobalt.
I'm doing the rear main seal on mine - all manual, no power tools, and on the ground. Fun, fun lol - Thanks for posting, very helpful, cheers!
This video is a Godsend thanks for sharing!

This helped tremendously!
Very professional thank you
Gracias amigo. Un video muy completo. Yo lo puedo desarmar, pero cuando lo arme de seguro me sobrarían tuercas y tornillos!. 😅
how long does it take to do this ?

No pilot and throw out bearing? Just a slave cylinder and bearing. Is it also a good idea to replace both cv axels at the same time?
How much would it cost to have this done. With parts. And if I get clutch on my own?

What engine size is this ?
2 people to lower the subframe made me laugh lol
holy crap this looks very complicated. you took the fuse box apart like lego bricks.
Thank you!
1/3 of the rust yet no bolts broke. Lucky
what if you don't have a Lift or bay
