  • HEY GUYS! ヽ(•‿•)ノ
    ** PLEASE READ EVERYTHING FOR USEFUL GUIDES AND LINKS **
    I wanted to share with you all our journey from San Francisco to Jakarta that actually started long before the actual flight itself. Hopefully this video may come in handy for anyone planning on flying with their ESA from USA to Indonesia in the near future. |・ω・)ノ
    I have compiled two checklists of things to prepare for BEFORE and FOR the flight for anyone that are interested (ง •̀ω•́)ง✧ PLEASE do read it word-by-word, I tried really hard to remember everything I did for you guys so that you won't make any mistakes.
    ◇──◇ CHECKLIST BEFORE FLIGHT ◇──◇
    ・EVA Permission → call to make sure your animal can travel on the same flight as you ; make sure you make a reservation for ALL flights ; ask them what forms are required specific to the airline
    ・Taiwan BAPHIQ → email them after filling up this form www.baphiq.gov... ; they'll email you a document and this is your animal’s TPE transfer permit
    ・Indonesia Pet Import Agent → I used abpetcargo.onha... ; contact them and they'll assist you with all the paperwork in Indonesia ; they’ll provide you the Indonesia import permit and quarantine information (Mushi was quarantined for 3 days)
    ・Rabies Titer Test → important to do ASAP since results take at least 4 to 8 weeks
    ・Health Certificate → filled up by USDA accredited vet (hand-written preferably) and must be brought/mailed to USDA APHIS to be endorsed/stamped (make sure that the stamp is like a colorless letterpress) ; mention to the USDA APHIS employee that you need both the health certificate and rabies titer test/lab work result endorsed because the prices are completely different; MUST both be done within 5 DAYS before travel date ; for more information www.aphis.usda... ; make sure your vet fills up the part of the health certificate form where it asks for the result of the rabies titer test because sometimes the USDA APHIS employee will not stamp on the real rabies titer test result paper and only the health certificate instead
    ・Microchip → required for all dogs coming into Indonesia
    ・Rabies Vaccination Certificates → make sure you get your vet to sign an official certificate stating when your animal got its rabies vaccinations - yes, each and every rabies vaccination it had gotten (Mushi had his two vaccinations done in two different cities - Napa and Los Angeles - and I had to get two individual signed certificates)
    ・Flight Medication (optional) → my vet recommended 1/2 a pill of Benadryl 25 as a motion sickness drug for Mushi's weight (Mushi is 8 lbs.)
    ・Emotional Support Animal Letter (optional) → from a licensed mental health professional
    ** DISCLAIMER : these requirements are as of 3 July 2018 **
    ◇──◇ CHECKLIST FOR FLIGHT ◇──◇
    ・Vaccinations/Health Record Book
    ・Indonesia Import Permit
    ・Passenger’s Live Animal Declaration Form
    ・Taipei Airport Pet Transfer Permit from BAPHIQ
    ・Endorsed Health Certificate
    ・Signed Rabies Certificates
    ・Rabies Titer Test Result
    ・Emotional Support Animal Letter
    ・Microchip Number/Card
    ・Harness/Collar with Dog Name and Information

    ・Food Container with 2-3 Meals for Flight
    ・Ziplock with 6 Meals for Quarantine

    Love that carrier. I'm getting ready to travel to Vietnam with my dog so thank you for this content. There isn't a lot of videos that I've found that gives a lot of information on the steps you need to go through. What a cutie your dog is. I'm trying to train my dog to get in the carrier like that. We just leave it out open with toys and treats in there so she can go in anytime she wants to check it out.

    I'm very skeptical and worried.
    Luie (Ludwig) is my Dachshund and my best friend. He and I are going home to North Europe from America in January. He's only 10 weeks old now and I purchased him in America.
    I fear that putting him outside the cabin will be too stressful. Thank you for your video, Winnie.
    You have raised your pup well!

      Hi, definitely try flying locally on short flights first to see how he handles it before taking a longer flight. I’m no expert by all means, but I think 10 weeks might be quite early for a long flight since he’s still considered a pup. Hope you guys get it all sorted out! Safe travels 😊🙏

    Very helpful, about to take our Jack Russell from the west coast to Italy for the summer. In the EU for 2021 much is the same as Indonesia, but no quarantine and titer for the dog in Italy, only the active rabies vaccination certificate, microchip, and EU/USDA health check. Coming home to the US the only requirement is a still active rabies vax. Got my dog packing list ready!

      @@winniewijaya_ Thanks! We've been here for almost a month now. The flights went perfectly, he loved his carrier under the seat, never once fidgeted on landing/takeoffs, and the Italian authorities didn't asked to see any of the EU travel paperwork! Turns out he didn't like the pet relief areas in Newark, but I had enough time to run him outside and back in thru security again.

      Hi :) this depends on where you’re flying to. When we were flying domestic in America, mushi didn’t have to have bag and can just walk around. When we flew internationally SanFran-Taipei-Jakarta, mushi had to be put in the bag as required by EVA at that time. During take off and landing he is required to be carried on my lap, aside from that he had to stay in his bag as much as possible. Hope this helps!

I would need to bring my dog into quarantine for 7 days, but was this the same for your dog, but yours was for 3 days, was this different from back then? What was the quarantine process like, as I am getting worried my dog who would have to go through quarantine for 7 days.

      Aadelheide Colston Yes I am. I think this happens in every country although for different reasons. It really pains me to acknowledge this but in Indonesia, sometimes and only in certain cities, they are considered as livestock and their meat as a delicacy. Honestly I don’t understand how people can still be so backwards, I mean can’t they see that dogs have feelings too ☹️

    Fantastic! Can I ask, when he’s inside his carrier inside the plane, if he needs to go to the bathroom, won’t he "tell you"? My dog tells me when she needs to go, and it after some time it literally sounds like she’s dying, before she would pee herself. I am thinking about learning her to go to the bathroom on pads, but she’s so obedient she couldn’t fathom that relieving herself inside would be allowed. Not sure what to do🤷🏻‍♀️🐩☀️ Do you have any tips?

    • @winniewijaya_
      @winniewijaya_  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, you can definitely try taking shorter flights first to get her used to flying. Getting her comfortable in her crate/bag would be the ideal first step. Ask getting to know her pee/poo schedule would help - then you can choose to what time for the flights accordingly. But of course just to be safe, have a diaper at hand and a pad underneath her in the crate/bag at all times.
      Hope it helps! 😊

      Hi all the documents you can check through the appropriate websites online. You can refer to my descriptions for our list of documents we had to prepare for for this specific route.
      For control/check, they do check your transit permit when you have the layover. Mushi had to walk though security check points 2x while his carrier was put inside the X-ray machine.
      Hope this helps! :)

    Hello! Such an adorable and well behaved dog love it! Question - I am between Mr. peanut’s travel bag that opens in one side or the one that you have in this video, did you open it both sides often? Is it worthy the extra space? I am traveling for first time overseas with my puppy and I wanted to know which is the best option, the one that opens only one side is purple and I kinda like it more for the color, but I wanted to know since in your video I can see you open only one side.
    Thanks!

    • @winniewijaya_

      Thank you for the question! My reasoning wasn’t bc of the two sides being able to open since mushi is pretty small and 1 would’ve sufficed. However, I was sold on that fact that the inside was all fur & they’re detachable = easier to clean 👍😊

I will probably have to put my Husky in Cargo but bring my Maltipom in cabin and this gives me a general idea of what I need to prepare for my trip back to indo after covid blows over. Thank you so much for this video! We are traveling from the US to Dubai and I am trying to figure out the best way to get our boy there safely. He is used to flying but never this long a trip. My thought is we are going to fly as close as we can to Dubai then use the last leg to fly private since they require animal entry through select ports. Since he is a Shih Tzu with a short nose, flying cargo is not an option. It is going to be ridiculously expensive but it is what it is and I wouldn't dream of leaving him for 6 months. I am curious about your dog's bathroom breaks and comfort throughout the flight. Was Mushi already trained to use pads? My dog thought they were toys and we always had trouble...since I have a few months, thinking it might be worth the effort to teach him how to use them. Also, how long did you have to leave your fur baby in quarantine?

    • @winniewijaya_
      @winniewijaya_  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      With pads, mushi grew up using them so we had no problem. We took the night flight and we knew for sure that his pee/poo schedule was about 9am and 6pm, so we were quite confident that the duration wouldn’t be a problem for him but definitely had a pad and diapers just in case he had an accident on the plane.
      For quarantine I it really depends for country you’re heading into. For indonesia at that time, it required up a min of 3 business days of quarantine so that they can do another health check in Mushi.
      Hope this helps and good luck ♥️

    Hello thank you so much for this video! so I am traveling with my Pomeranian soon for the first time and I am very stressed about barking during the flight ( he barks a lot) so any advise? And also did they allow you to put him on leash and walk him through the airport? And what about pet relief areas at the airports?

    • @winniewijaya_
      @winniewijaya_  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! Thank you for your questions :) My advise is to try and exhaust him as much as you can before the flight, and if really really needed, you can ask your vet for an motion sickness prescription (it makes your pet sleepy). In TPE, they didn't allow me to put him on a leash but in SFO they definitely did. Pet relief isn't common at airports unfortunately, so you have to prepare your pet's pee pads and diapers.

I’m not sure about the flights from Asia to Norther Countries so sorry! And I didn’t pay for his flight ticket since he is an emotional support animal. Hi I don’t have a dog yet (but I might get one in next month) but If I am to go on a flight with a dog do I feed it or not? Some people who made these how to fly on a plane with your dog or flying with my dog videos say not to.

    • @winniewijaya_
      @winniewijaya_  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi 😊 Yes, you’re not supposed to to avoid your dog from poo/pee on the plane. But this is a long flight (with a connecting flight at that) and I know my dog’s poo/pee schedule too. He normally goes right after he wakes up at 10am and another time before he sleeps. That means if I flew at 1am, the time we arrive at TPE is around time he actually has to go usually. And the same logic applies to the second flight. I’d recommend only feeding your dog very little snacks during the flight and a bit of water as well.

    how do you get the emotional support letter from your doctor? do you have to be diagnosed of "depression" to get one? and how if you eventually recovered? will the letter last forever?

    • @winniewijaya_
      @winniewijaya_  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Panji Agustian hi, I have a therapist that I used to talk to about my issues in LA and she eventually wrote me an ESA letter. an ESA is an animal that gives relief to anyone with emotional disability and the type/severity varies from person to person. in my case it was anxiety that comes and goes, which also means that it’ll never actually recover but can very well be managed over time through coping methods that I have been learning. whether you qualify for the need of an ESA depends on your therapist. as for how long the letter lasts, I am not too sure myself, sorry.. hope this helps tho! :)

    • @Inciliusnebulifer
      @Inciliusnebulifer 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ESA letters are issued by therapists who recommend that that animal will help its person who suffers from a psychological impairment such as anxiety, depression at the present time. The letter is good for one year only and then must be rewritten if needed. I understand that you want to take your dog in cabin but if you no longer suffer from depression then you no longer need an ESA, be happy, proud and grateful that you have recovered. Some airlines do allow pets of a certain size to fly in cabin so long as they are contained in a carrier stowed under the seat in front of you the entire flight. Hope this helps

    I’m thinking of bringing a Shiba Inu from Taiwan to LA but I thought dogs have to stay in the cargo with a solid dog carrier I have been doing research but still not very sure how the process is suppose to go. 😭

      bitsy bunny hi :) you should check the aphis usda website and see what you need to prepare for when you are coming to US from Taiwan, and also call EVA to ask them the same thing. The only way for you to bring your dog in cabin is for it to be an ESA. Hope this helps and good luck ♥️
