- Coffee travels for the first time over 20 hours!! In Cabin on a International Flight
We wanted to share with you all our experience of flying with our Dog (Coffee) a Toy Poodle. We are sharing our experience of flying with her all the way from Taiwan to Spain. We traveled for more than 20 hours. The longest flight was Taipei to Amsterdam which was 13 hours.
I will share some of our experience with the cost of her ticket, her carrier bag, how did we manage the potty breaks and why we choose KLM. Coffee flew under the rules of in-cabin Pet set by KLM. We did not take her as an ESA (Emotional Support Animal)
This is a short intro video to share our experience. If there are repeat questions we might make another video to answer them.

Hey Esther! Don't know if you already traveled with your cat from Brazil to Indonesia, if so how was the experience? Did your cat got too much stressed with the flight? Was he/she already used to go out? I'm planning in going with mine from Brazil to Norway with KLM but I'm worried it might be too much stressfull.
@@renatabaumanncorrea4012 hi! I ended up not taking my cat there, but I would definitely do it through KLM. I thought of spending a few days in amsterdam before continuing flying but idk if it would just stress him more.

I love that your pup is trained to pee on the piddle pad❣️ What a lifesaver that was! I will be flying with a cat. Cats are very particular about using the bathroom in unfamiliar places. I have a fold-up litter box packed as well as a zip-lock bag of fresh kitty litter.....and hopefully we can find unoccupied “family” restrooms in the airports so I can lock the door and let him out to potty.

we are about to take the plane in August from Taiwan to France , which I booked with KLM and Air France . Also gonna let my dog stays in the cabin with me ,But mina is 5.9kgs ( 3 kgs more than coffee) what I worry about is she will be locked in the small bag for 21 hours journey in total :(

Hi! Were all your flights under KLM including TPE to Ams? I was told by KLM that if there's another airline operating for my transit, I would have to take approval from them as well.

Hello, I plan to fly with my dog from US to Cambodia.. will fly with Korean Air transit in Inchon. but they don't let dog from Inchon in Cabin to Cambodia because my dog is more than 7kg. any advise? I already register my dog as service dog. but still not allow to fly in cabin from Inchon.
When you arrive in Madrid do you need to register your dog? I know that I need to do so in the Netherlands. But I am planning to take my dog to Madrid as well
thanks for the video! what is the size of your carrier? as you mentioned, klm seats require a height of 24 cm, which is lower than other airlines; how did you meet that requirement? i'm looking at a similar carrier but the closest i could find was 28cm; would one be able to squeeze the bag in?
The bag I had fit the requirement, left link on the description. Most carrier bags are made with solid frame so I don't think you would be able to squeeze 4cm. Best of luck!
So lucky, dogs who are living in English speaking country is so much more luckier than the rest of country, we couldn’t stay with our pets...

Coffee is doing really well loving her home. Her carrier was sized 40.5 x 25.5 x 25.5 (cm). It fitted perfectly under Air France and KLM flights. Safe travels!

I would go for window because you wouldn’t want people passing by and your dog being on the floor, cheers!
Hi there! This video is so helpful. I’m so happy to see about 12-13 hour long flights as we are planning to bring our pup Singapore to Germany. Was she able to potty right before boarding time? And if so, did you also have to make her wee on pads in the airport toilets?
Considering the flight was 12 hours, the total time is pretty much 14 if you consider waiting to depart and board etc..
Glad you found it helpful! She pee on her pad once at the airport and once on the airplane. It was not easy but with patience they will do it. Is important to keep them hydrated even if bathroom will. be hard. Hope this helps!
Thank you for this! Sorry if I missed it but did the airline check if your dog could stand up in the bag? My dog can definitely lie comfortably in his but can’t stand/sit upright as airlines supposedly require.
Ashley Simms they don’t really check if they can stand! I was super worry too! But I confirmed with someone who has help people travel with their pets and confirmed me that all airlines care is the weight and bag size. Obviously your dog can’t look crammed into the bag either . Hope it helps!
Traveling Potatoes thanks :) I flew a few weeks ago and you’re right, they didn’t check. I read horror stories online and wasn’t sure if airlines would be super strict or laid back since not many ppl were flying. My experience was definitely the latter...the airlines never weighed or looked at my dog or his carrier (which was technically too big). They also didn’t ask for the health certificate they told me was required and upon landing in Canada they never did the physical inspection or charge me the import fee! You would definitely want to have everything needed and more but it was a lot easier than I thought!
@@travelingpotatoes1172 Do they measure the bag? To my understanding the required measurements are the following 46 x 28 x 24 cm (L x W x H). Im worried if they measure the bag at the airport? I understand if they weight it but im worried if they measure it as I cannot find a bag under 24cms in height, All I can find is bags of 29 cms :/
@@MaestraJager the bags you’ll have to be more careful just like any carry on luggage some airlines are more strict than others. I wouldn’t risk to be rejected. I also had a super hard time finding a bag, best of lucks!

I wish you could reply this message I'm about to book a flight with my cat in cabin, klm told me the carrier must be 24cm or less and the cats head doesn't have to touch the top of the carrier which I think is impossible unless you're taking a chihuahua, but I see in your video your dog is taller than 24cm. Counter staff didn't have a problem with this requirement in your flight?

My Pomeranian is small but chunky. He’s about 7kg. Me and my husband are trying to organise from Shanghai to Portugal, and it’s so so so confusing. 😭 my cat will be fine, she’s small. But my chunky dog is making it hard.

How tall is Coffee? We want to get a dog and now is a puppy, but the parents are like mom 5 kg (26 cm) and papa 6 kg (32 cm) . I know some airlines ask to be only 23 cm tall carry bag and the dog needs to be able to stand... we are confused 😅

Poodles are the best! Advice: Give your "beast" Zesty Paws "dog" vitamins & he will never get cataracts. Also if you give him Greenies his teeth will stay healthy.

I have a bag for my cat that's slightly larger than the recommended sizes and KLM customer support tells me they won't accept it, even though it can be easily squished in to meet their requirements...

Sorry, I wouldn't know if this is possible. You should ask KLM. But it sounds to me as it is not possible because it is not comfortable for the cats.

@@backyard_cats I’m sorry, we has made a mistake will we was doing the check in, and the host didn’t pay attention on it at the moments, when she has notice it it was too late, we finally got the flight with air France , and they didn’t check the size of the bag , they didn’t care at all, Air France and klm are the same group so I think that should work

can u tell us the pet carrier size and dimensions. we are planning to take our pet shortly on an international travel to india and we just got the small bag, which is 9 inches tall and 10 inches wide, but they also have medium and large, which are about 11 inches tall. appreciate your suggestion. your video helped

Thank you for not applying your pet for emotional support animal. That was meant for legitimate ESAs to ride with their handler who had legitimate fears during flights. But people abused the system. Your not one of those. I’m grateful, thank you. It’s better to spend the money than to be called out for that.
Won't fly KLM again. They allow small dogs to come on the plane with the owner.
On a flight from NYC to Amsterdam, the dog kept barking until it was allowed the owner let the dog out of the container.
The dog did not stop actually. Every once in a while he'd let out a yelp, which would wake people who were trying to sleep.
Oh well it's nice how kind and understanding you are.
