- Hey FOA. I added a swing-away hitch with a cargo box to the back of my van. It added a ton of storage to the outside of my van along with roof cargo storage.

Anthony a good way to organize is to number every container and take a picture of what's inside of it when you're looking for something just look at the picture and you know which container it's in

Always remember when you are backing up you have the box on the back. It is easy to forget and to bump into something

Anthony the storage container looks very good on the back of your van... but on the back of the storage container you should put a couple of reflector stickers or stripes so that someone won't pull back close up on your bumper. Put some reflective stripe tape on the back of cargo container.

@@FOASQUAD ALSO...I noticed that you had a big dent in your back bumper. Well...that won't happen again. HOWEVER...YOU SHOULD BE EXTRA CAREFUL WHEN YOU'RE BACKING UP, LEST you end up being the one putting a dent in someone else's bumper.

In California you're required to flag anything that extends past the rear bumper. I guess that must not be a requirement in all 50 states.
Be careful parking it in Baltimore. My cousin' van with the wheelchair hitch was stolen while they were at an appointment. Safe travels!

Love the idea, more extra space and a place to cook on! Like a few others had said in the chat, try to get the dent fix if possible... it may rust. ❤️
Have to remember when backing up, you have to take that length into consideration. Don't overload it. Take care.
I was looking at your dents in back. A bathroom plunger can be used to suck those out. I've used this to pull dents from the side of my vehicle. I like the hitch on the back.

The extra storage will be so helpful. We put a cargo roof rack on our rambulance van for items we don’t need everyday but will need at some point. You will love the extra storage. If you value something, lock it up. Smart move with the hitch lock as people would steal a red hot stove. 😉 Stay warm my friend from the rambulance crew. ❤️

Hi Anthony. I really like the new storage box. Being it's black, I'd suggest putting reflector tape for when driving at night so anyone behind you can better see you have the box in back and allow you space. Nicely hooked up. I'm terrible with reading instructions. I'm more of a eye it as I go kinda gal. Always a pleasure watching your videos. Stay well.

Glad you are going towards warmer climates for the rest of the winter. That is smart and safer. Abiya went to her moms house when it got too cold for her . Glad you haven’t packed out your storage space yet. Soon you will need a home base or apartment because of all the items that are mailed to your PO Box. Glad your having fun and still laughing. Not many men like to read directions first. It is important and could save time but it seems like you like to do it by trial and error method like my husband. Lol 😂Whatever floats your boat right. Have fun and continue your journey safely. I wouldn’t even fix the dent in the back. It might make your vehicle less of a target for break ins. They might go for another vehicle to rob and pillage for money and such. Stay safe out there and enjoy life.
Maybe when you retire from van life you will try a tiny homestead. I could see you gardening and doing things in nature in a sustainable way. ❤☮️
Probably want to add some rust repellent to those new holes and anti seize the bolts. But solid space addition!
I learned is good to have another guy buddy with u when you do stuff like that. Alot less headache. I hope you don't learn the hard way but it's very easy to forget you have that in the back of your van because it's all new you may forget

The hitchy thingy looks great! I am very proud of you that you try and you do things. A lot of people don’t and spend a lot of money. It looks very nice. I think you can buy a longer hitch, which will allow your tool box to extend out further and allow you to open the back..
Like Don just said. I should have pulled the box foward further. I will redo it when I get to a campground and want a project to work on.
When you get the larger vehicle you hope to get, you can just tow your van with the storage bin on top and the swing out storage box on back 😅
Hi Anthony, I have a Suggesting idea if you don’t mind me saying so😉 how about adding some safety Reflecting tape to your box so other drivers will see that you have something hooked to the back of your van for safety measures since you don’t have any lights on it as a safety precaution I say that because the box is black and when it’s dark at night you want other drivers to be able to see that you have a box hook on van and I really enjoy ur video’s much💖🫶🏽👍🏽

Hello Anthony! You are a character when you're putting things together lol! You've got a load on this adventure. Made your Bearcreek vegetable beef soup. I added steak for stir fry in mine after seasoning to taste. Made the entire package. It's just me. After eating off of it twice will freeze the rest. Really was filling and enjoyed it. Safe travels. Anthony this was a great double duty, well thought out purchase. I can already see you enjoying the extra space while prepping and preparing major meals on top of it and love that it frees up lots of room in your living space! I was disappointed when you didn't initially go the RV route (though can appreciate how freeing being debt free feels), but get excited seeing you add, piece by piece, items that make van life more comfortable for you. Now if only they make porta-pottys on wheels with hitches, lol!❤

I think that you can add a hitch spacer to extand your hitch longer that way you can open your hatch up, male hitch adopter thing

On your fancy orange new looking electrical cord, make sure you put some well placed electrical tape to make it look like an old line that no one will want to steal at the campsites. My father's advice. :-)

Anthony, you should not have to slide it all the way into the hitch, there should be several holes there to pull it out then put the hitch lock in and you should be able to open the door.

you need a pice wood in that box with some washers and bolts in wood inside. over time the blot holes will get big.
