    Drug dealers discussing the morals of selling producs at a lower cost is top tier Robocop comedy.

      Hearing that selling Nuke at half-price put it under production costs makes me wonder just how expensive this drug must be to produce, or how cheap these deals must have already been selling it...
      Unless my understanding of the profit margins of the illegal drug trade is completely wrong?

      This is the same studio that did Terminator Resistance, so they seem to have a thing for 80s action-scifi properties.
      They also made that horrible Rambo rail-shooter game. 2 out of 3 ain't bad I suppose.
      Also, somewhat ironically their publisher is Nacon, who also published Gollum.

      Oh yeah, and it goes for $50 which is pretty nice seeing all the effort that went into this, it runs so well on my system and Unreal Engine 5 is soooo beautiful combined with HDR. So far I only had 1 bug hard locking me from progressing, I had to load a previous save file and progress the main quest right away as there is a person standing in the doorway being stuck in the ground while calling you a defect lol.
      So refreshing especially for this franchise, thank you devs, publishers and Vinny.

      Their Terminator game is also really sick.
      Licensed games nowadays TEND to get a lot more polish and focus than they did in the 80s-2000s just because development costs are too high for it to be a guaranteed turnover.

      Its best quality is how perfectly paced it is imo. Every scene has a clear purpose without feeling contrived or artificial and nothing overstays its welcome. It does a lot with what it has (which isn't much when you compare it to action movies today). You rarely get films like that anymore; even good movies have moments where they lose the plot for a bit.

It's wild that other games don't do this today.

Bit of a budget going into it, but it's also clearly a passion project made by people who at the very minimum have a great care for the franchise they're working with. It's also a case of bugs being more excusable since this isn't some massive billion dollar company that simply ignores the issues their game has like so many nowadays, but rather a smaller team that can't get everything. It's flawed for sure, and not for everybody, and that's okay. It's made to cater to Robocop fans who want to FEEL like robocop, and it succeeds at that

      RoboCop having "Wholesome Superhero"-esque dialog and being cute with kids, while also turning criminals into piles of flesh and goo is one of my favorite aspects of this series. Both as one of the series' jokes about superheroes and in general.
      He's like the personality of Superman with the MO of Judge Dredd, and it's amazing.
      And that's also a major reason RoboCop 3 sucks: Making him non-violent/PG is completely missing the joke.

    • @SBaby
      @SBaby 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@warbossgegguz679 I think Robocop's personality is a bit warmer than Judge Dredd though. Judge Dredd is more of a Lawful/Neutral character, and Robocop is more of a Neutral/Good.

      @warbossgegguz679 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@SBaby That's why I said "Superman's Personality with the MO of Judge Dredd."
      Like, he's warm and this "upstanding beacon" of Detroit in an almost corny kind of way, but his methods of fighting crime are akin to dudes like Judge Dredd or the Punisher.
      Like, for example, the arcade scene in Robocop 2: Walks into an arcade full of kids and goes "Isn't this a school day?" to resounding boos.
      5 minutes later: completely blows some dudes away and proceeds to beat a crooked cop to a pulp in public *_in the same arcade._*
      Again, it's part of the satire of the series. He's presented in the same light as this righteous superhero character, while in contrast using some of the most violent methods of fighting crime possible... which then gets joked about in RoboCop 2.
      "It would be nice if he tried talking to people instead of just using that big gun of his. He's setting an example for our children." which in turn makes him completely ineffective, except for almost blowing a dude's head off for smoking near children.

    I appreciate that the cars are period correct for when the movie was shot, and that they kept the original '86 Taurus even if they had to strip the badging from it because of licensing issues. Walking through the first area up towards the Channel 9 building and seeing a Chevrolet Celebrity station wagon of all things was just awesome. The fact that Murphy moves like he's a guy wearing a heavy suit, replete with the springy bouncing of the arms when he turns, is just groovy, and the ACT Apricot PCs in the police station are a detail I'm pretty sure only meganerds would care about. And one of the most obvious things that I always see modern takes on old sci-fi get wrong is they use modern 16:9 LCD or LED screens, whereas everything in this has a 4:3 or 3:2 CRT. It's honestly astonishing to me how a budget game does more to get things period correct than movies with four times more funding, and it makes the attitude Capcom took to Resident Evil 2 REmake's presentation of 1998 where it's just 2018 without smartphones even more disappointing.

    • @alfo2804
      @alfo2804 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I feel like RE2 remake did an okay job of feeling like the late 90's. The security camera footage on the laptop was the only real major thing that took me out of it, but at least the design of the laptop was fairly period-accurate.
      I did have a minor moment of questioning when you get the USB flash drive, but USB drives were _technically_ a thing, even if it would have been far, far more common for it to have been a floppy disk instead.
      I heard people rip on Ada's scanner thing being anachronistic but that's obviously just a James Bond-esque pure fiction gadget with no basis in reality, so it can't be jarring - loads of TV, Film and Games from the 90's were set in 'the present day' but inexplicably included complete sci-fi stuff like that.

    • @VulpesHilarianus
      @VulpesHilarianus 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@alfo2804 There were a lot of things about it that bothered me. Like Claire looking like a Zoey from Left 4 Dead HD model instead of having '90s hair and clothing, Leon having a more DEA/SWAT look cops adopted only after 9/11, the cars that were background props being anywhere from say 1990 to the anachronistic late 2000s instead of a mix of like the early '80s to the late '90s like there would've been, the use of modern light systems with LED and CFL lights instead of incandescent and industrial halide lighting including things like Leon's flashlight, a lot of the modern "open plan" layouts that are a current corporate interior design trend that weren't even a sketch in a notebook in the 1990s, lack of ashtrays, lack of payphones, too many digital locks... If you lived in or grew up in the '90s there's so much stuff like that which sticks out to you because you saw all that stuff every day for years.
      And yet Robocop goes so far as to model a plastic drink bottle form factor that was huge in the late '80s for stuff like Guzzler and hasn't been seen since 2005 for the store shelves in the Asian guy's shop. I don't expect that kind of detail from every game, but holy crap that is such a stupid tiny little detail that is entirely endemic to that time period and *only* that time period.
