I can't believe that out of all the licensed games this year, it wasn't Lord of the Rings, King Kong, or Walking dead that was a quality product, it was Robocop. Robo deserves his oreo.

I'm forever stuck with this mental image of Robocop taking his pants off every time he has to drive anywhere.
1:34:00 was fucking golden, the fact Vinny missed the 1st guy with the bike, only for someone to run into it and blow up, then the next guy he shoots trips on the bike debris and gets launched to the stratosphere. This game is amazing to watch.
don't forget about the guy that vinny shoots down and then glitches off into the fucking wall literally ~15 seconds after. didn't even notice it either.
lol the bike debris is super bugged it happened again at 1:35:35 they accelerate with warp speed out of the map. This time the guy is on full health

Honestly, totally fine with the prerecords as someone who doesn't tune into streams like... ever. I enjoy being able to easily rewind without needing to clip a moment in the stream. And, I still get to watch Vinny play games.

2:13:22 Oh man, I actually kind of love Predator 2, it's by no means perfect, but there's this absolutely high strung sweaty paranoid cocaine-infused spirit in it that kind of makes it feel like a feverish nightmare in a fitting way that sort of enhances its horror atmosphere for the unstoppable slasher horror monster Predator - also I feel like Alan Silvestri did an even better job of infusing that same insane paranoid spirit into the OST
I kind of hope someone like Teyon or another passionate AA studio could make a Predator game, I could picture that even in the framework of some cliched Open-ish world tropes it would be great as long as it focuses on some core mechanics & ideas. (honestly following the formula of Terminator & Robocop would be great)
- Picture a dense but maybe relatively small city as your hunting grounds.
- Dying Light-esque parkour with just you being more agile climbing up walls and jumping long distances, staying cloaked on rooftops observing humans below.
- As a rookie predator come down on a ship with other elder leaders (a la Predator 2), you need to earn respect & prove yourself, killing unarmed bystanders will hurt that goal, the more respect you earn the more your elders give you higher tier equipment (plasma casters and net launchers and combi sticks etc) and XP etc and story stuff, bonds with fellow predators, as you return back from hunts to ditch your skulls, replenish supplies, talk with Elders and peers, your mask can work as sort of a live feed for the blood sports that everyone likes to watch/participate in (so they'll know when you're dishonoring their traditions and code out on a hunt).
- How do you earn respect? You need to learn the ins-and-outs of the dynamics of gangs, the human relationships, follow/stalk henchmen to their leaders, take out progressively higher threats, collect their trophies, bring them back-- Ultimately, try and flush out of the shadows the main villain, picture maybe someone like the Kingpin in Daredevil/Spiderman, someone in the shadows pulling the strings but would make for a nasty one-on-one fight towards the end.
- For extra side stuff I could imagine goofy weird encounters with strange civilians, kids and grandmas, listening in on their conversations, learning their language, hearing a couple argue in a comedic fashion that the husband is too lazy to pick up a couch from the driveway, and you can for your own amusement (and your viewers back on the ship) throw the couch up to their balcony, causing funny confusion about this turn of events, a dumb fetch quest about getting candy for a kid, opening up a door for a granny, and everyone just thinks they're haunted by ghosts.
(Predator 2 leaned into that Robocop Detroit vision of the present/near future with the humor and excessive violence & I could see that helping in a videogame setting.)

So one thing I learned very quickly. Max out Deduction early, yes. This is a given once you learn what it does. But after that, you want to go for Armor and Vitality BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING WITH ANY OTHER SKILLS! Armor reduces the damage you take, and Vitality allows you to not only recharge from circuit breakers, but maxed out you regen your health all the way to 75%. This is extremely important for later areas where recovery charges are in shorter supply. If you put points into anything else, don't rob these three stats, or you'll be sorry.

Shame if this won't be a more full(ish?) playthrough, considering it seems kind of perfect for Vinny, a good mix of jank and schut and moments for Vinny to ramble meandering bits which are making me grin almost constantly.
(BTW Terminator Resistance has a extra short game mode with some minor procedural generation/random spawns in it where you play as a Terminator, and you can there too just as Robocop pick up humans and toss them comically, clearly a prototype testrun for Robocop, worth giving a shot, fun mini mode alongside the main campaign, Infiltrator mode called)

15:21 I have to correct, Nacon did NOT make Terminator Resistance or Robocop Rogue City, Teyon is the developer, and the publisher for Terminator was some unknown entity called Reef Entertainment (no other games of theirs listed on steam) and then of course Nacon is the publisher of Robocob-- Nacon tends to be a pretty bad publisher overall (Sinking City fiasco with Frogwares, or Gollum, and some more generic sh*tty publisher stuff) so had to be the actually guy because Nacon deserves no credit, considering they were surprised that they actually published a good game that people liked for once.

Just watched Robocop 2 for the first time, all I knew about that movie was that screaming skeleton scene and the brain in a jar scene that I saw at a local grocery store and left me scarred as a kid. However now seeing both robocop movies back-to-back with this game as the reason to revisit them, this game really is a love letter to the fans of the movies. I don't think I'll ever watch Robocop 3 either, I'm just going to think of this game as the true Robocop 3. There's 100% less ninjas.

48:10 - Yeah, I should've mentioned this about the game. It's not only an FPS with RPG elements, and parts where you investigate. You also occasionally deal with sequences where you're thrown into liminal spaces.

Not enough people give credit to RoboCain and its special effects in Robocop 2, the drug lab raid and the final fight are incredible as far as utilizing movie props go
1:40:33 Surprised Vinny didn't comment on this being the room where Alex Murphy was killed. Even had the chalk outline that just gave an error when scanned (1:47:10). Maybe he didn't realize? Also the water area looks very similar to where the final showdown took place at the end of RoboCop 1.
EDIT: Actually if you frame-by-frame around 1:40:35, you can see they even modeled Murphy's body on the ground, complete with blown off hand.

This game got me interested in Robo Cop so I watched it for the first time recently. What a great movie, hard to watch at some points because what happens to Murphy is a fucking tragedy, but still has a great ending. I'm wondering how the game will handle it.

Every time there's a safe the combination is around somewhere, though at first Robo can't read them lol.
Also, to know if the game saved, try to load a save and check the time of the last save.
This game is my personal GOTY, so good.
1:29:18 - You can't shut down the 5% penalty on the tutorial board. You have to use the chips to work around it. It's not that hard though, as long as you wait to combine chips until you max out Engineering (Engineering should come right after Armor and Vitality). I have a pretty good setup where I basically don't need the other boards at all.
Whatever you do, NEVER PUT POINTS INTO COMBAT OR SCANNING! Those are beginner's traps. Combat ONLY AFFECTS MELEE and is extremely situational to the point where it's just outright less useful than other things, and Scanning is ONLY MILDLY EFFECTIVE WITH AUTOMATIC! There are just better skills to invest in, and a finite number of points in the game.
Deduction, Armor, Vitality. Those are the trinity of this game. You have to max those out before certain enemies start showing up (you'll know it when you see them). If you don't do this, you will be hurting big time.

If Vinny decides not to finish this, I may just pick up myself. I'm watching this while playing a game and suddenly realized I was COMPLETELY enthralled by the plot, so much so I had tunnelvision on what was happening so much I didn't even realize I was still watching in windowed mode... Of all the franchises to receive a licensed game this year, the one that should have been the bottom of the barrel nostalgia cashgrab drek was Rogue City, and instead I'm glued to it's story like the Robocop interquel it serves as. More relevant IPs than this completely flopped with shitty cash grab games and yet here we are. I can only assume the devs just really like Robocop. (and, maybe they were given a proper budget and timeframe for development.)

This game kicks ass, but the face and speaking animations on characters other than Robocop are very stiff and weird

They basically maxed out the "bite off as much as you can chew" with this game.
