At first, I did not like the direction this video was going, as it seemed to be a typical stereotyped ugly, uninformed American tourist in Northern Europe, which I thought it was going to be, but then it went to complete awesomeness! Your enthusiasm and appreciation were so admired, especially when you tried Black Balsam straight without making an ugly face! Awesome video! BTW I am an American whose parents had to leave Latvia during World War II in order to survive. Latvians have hundreds of years of learning how to survive and smoke meats, in order to survive in terrible conditions were a part of life, and they are great at making the meats taste delicious! Wild game overpopulation is becoming a problem and people travel, from all over the world, there just to hunt. Wild boar-smoked jerky with a whiskey glaze is one of the most delicious foods I have ever tried.

My husband is Latvian and we were just in Riga in August for a family wedding. We spent a lot of time outside the city visiting family. There is so much more to this country than just Riga. I absolutely love this country. The trip was not long enough.

Great video ! I had no idea that selling hard liquor in shop is something special. We have 50% rums and absinthe on regular shelf huh, explains the amount of alchoholics. Also i bet that balsam glass got you good and really warm. Also happy to see you ate some local cats 27:00 (joke)

Goddamit! 😂I was pleased to see you took the black currant Riga balsam in your hands, but was disappointed to see you bought the original one. The original ir nasty as hell, because it really tastes like medicine, but the black currant one is genuinly tasty.
Roberta you're right, not gonna lie lol. If you watch my other videos you'll see that I generally like to try the original things a town or city is known for. That's the only reason. But I will be sure to try the Black Currant next! Thanks Roberta!

It's not a balsam coffee , actually cofee is even not a part of original receipe which back in mid 1700's contained 40 different herbs on a spirit base.
You're right. It's more cocoa'y or chocately than coffee tasting I should've said and looks more like black coffee than tastes like it. The taste is probably closer to Jagermeister if I was going to compare it to anything, black licorice. But it has its own uniqueness.
I am not a fan of traveling 😅 thanks for doing the work for us so we can enjoy the adventure from home❤❤❤

This journey that you are on with Svetlana visiting family where she grew up is a real treat.
