From a 1968 Acetate I borrowed from Melanie's Mother Polly.
As far as I know this Song was never

Thank you for this treasure. It's nice to discover such treasures while mourning her passing.
In the 70s I loved Melanie's singing but it's only after a lifetime you can truly appreciate how absolutely terrific she was and still is.
Thank God to be alive with such good music.

Melanie is worthy of being in the Rock & Roll Hall Fame! Actually way worthy. I hope "they" induct her the next time around Girl could belt a song with no crackling of any kind in her voice. Tour de force she was.... I'm crying now... gotta go

This is by far the best interpretation of this song I have ever heard and ever likely to. Her amazing voice is so heartfelt it gives me goosebumps. Melanie and this song are treasures for sure.

I heard her on a little transistor radio on my way home from school at about 5, so that would be 1972ish....I never forgot her tone....struck me then...still resonates today. Love lay down lyrically as well....:)

Yes, This was taken from one of the Acetates I borrowed for one Day from Melanie's Mom. I transferred all the
tracks from Three Acetates to Reel to Reel Tape. You can hear slight clicks from the acetate easily.
What are the other tracks? Can we hear them? :)
Hi Brian, The other Demos on the Acetate were Songs She would later Record. This was the only unreleased Tune.

I've been listening to this since 1981 Joey. I thought about uploading it over the last 4 years but didn't, because I was in two minds about how it seemed to be such a personal thing from Melanie to Peter. Oh Well. Looks like the dam burst. I will thank you for doing this, It did need doing.
Even back then I couldn't listen to it without breaking down. Now it's even more poignant. Maybe it's just me reading too much into one of many cover versions Melanie did back then. If...........

Did this ever get recorded? She makes this her own -- which everything she sang she made it her own. Love this version -- thank you for sharing. I too was in love with Melanie. She was very instrumental in my youth.

The pitch was too, too, too, high...a dentist in Chatham Ontario changed the front teeth to buck and Melanie was going to slowly stop composing and switch to a new name, hair dew, and pitch...which was still too high as Linda Rondstat
