    Thank you brother David for having this wonderful conversation.
    I testify that the words in Steven’s book Putting on Christ are true. I was blessed to be a recipient and now a witness of the baptism of fire, the unspeakable joy that comes from being given a new heart, and the conversion associated with the gift of redemption through the atonement of The Jesus Christ the Holy L amb of God. About 2 1/2 years ago I was born again. I can tell you the days that it happened. It was an event that culminated after a process which the heart is required to be laid upon the altar as a sacrifice. I can say that will honest conviction. I was baptized and confirmed at eight years old by proper authority, but I did not have the first comforter bestowed upon me the SAME as on the day of Pentecost. However, later in life, I came to a sense of my awful situation as the natural man and after 43 years and many trials that turned out to be tender mercies I was brought to true brokenhearted repentance. The keeper of the gate is the holy one of Israel, and he employeth no servant there…,we know this ….and we know the gate is indeed THE gate of baptism, and we know Christ said of that gate of baptism that “few there, be that find it“ …. that is because we will not consider that the baptism of fire as found in Scripture is a true spiritual ordinance, or in other words, the other half of our baptism as spoken by Joseph Smith. Joseph said you may as well baptize a bag of sand as a man, if not done for the reception of the gift of the Holy Ghost. David A, Bednar said just because those four words are spoken “receive the Holy Ghost” does not mean we indeed, will receive the Holy Ghost at that time. Those words are an admonition, a priesthood, injunction, or good advice to go out, and actually receive this gift. We should all focus like a laser, and with an open heart and mind prayerfully read third Nephi chapter 9 and read 2 Nephi chapter 31 and 32 and Mosiah chapter 5 and then read Steven Bishop’s book.

    I have been reading and sharing brother Steve’s book. After reading our church’s definition of conversion I realised that I had not yet had that experience of being born of the spirit. Brother Steve’s book shows plainly what it entails through scripture, the words of modern prophets, and personal examples. I hope it will be available in epub format one day (if not already) for better readability on mobile.

      @@rconger24 From ‘Guide to the scriptures’ in Gospel Library under Conversion it says the “natural man will be changed into a new person who is sanctified and pure, born again in Christ Jesus.”
      Also if you go to the Gospel Library > Topics and Questions > Conversion, among lots of other things it gives a description of people who are converted to the Lord:
      1. They desire to do good continually and cannot look upon sin save with abhorrence.
      2. They do not rebel against the Lord.
      3. They share the gospel.
      4. They are filled with love.
      Elder Bednar says:
      “True conversion brings a change in one’s beliefs, heart, and life to accept and conform to the will of God. … It is the result of revelation from God, accompanied by individual repentance, obedience, and diligence.”

      Amen. I love this quote by Elder Christofferson that lays out plainly the need for Spiritual Rebirth (or being Born of the Spirit), which will surface far beyond merely accepting Jesus Christ in the beginning of our journey : “Knowing why we left the presence of our heavenly Father and what it takes to return and be exalted with Him, it becomes very clear that nothing [hear it again: nothing], relative to our time on earth, can be more important than physical birth [already accomplished] and spiritual rebirth: the two prerequisites to eternal life!” (“Why Marriage, Why Family,” general conference, April, 2015; emphasis added).

    So, dear brother Bishop, I've had a life full of pain. The Lord told me I would be tested, but that I would be able to go through some glorious experiences. I'm now 72 years old. These past two years have been some of the hardest. I have made every effort to be a holy woman, and I've sought to be repentant and grateful, even through difficult days. I have felt the power of the Holy Ghost, powerfully when I read the Book of Mormon, and heard God's thoughts when I had to leave an abusive situation. However, I've never seen my Lord or had a Pentecostal experience, yet I've tried to follow my Lord. I've had a broken heart for many years and have suffered more than I thought possible. I was drawn to let the Lord prevail, even though I didn't understand. No relief, plus I lost almost all my immediate family, including my dear mother. I have felt His comfort and His love at times, but I still suffer. Yet I love my Lord and Heavenly Father because I know they love me. I haven't had the experience that you mention, even though I have asked. I don't care about this world. I just want my Savior. I've helped fellow travelers along the way because it makes me happier. I've been blessed with true charity due to my suffering. What I hear you saying, if we don't have an experience like yours, I haven't received a remission of my sins? Also, what did the Lord tell Thomas: "Blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed." I have suffered since young, but I still have my testimony and faith due to the witness of the Holy Ghost. In addition, everything I have is God's, so it's already consecrated to Him. He has provided for my needs and blessed me, for which I always give thanks. ❤

      It was once explained very clearly what a broken heart and a contrite spirit actually is that we are all required to have . Not a broken heart like being hurt . A broken heart means a soft heart . Not a harden heart . If you do not have a broken heart a soften heart then you can not learn . A contrite spirit is having the spirit of the Holy Ghost with you always . When you have these two things then you are humble and teachable and you can learn . So that is why those two things are required . Give me a change of heart another birth . A change of heart is the biggest miracle there is . I’m wondering if Steve did as our leaders have asked of all people who write books or want to write books . Please submit it to them first before you publish it . They need to read it first and see if all teachings are approved and correct . I just wonder why all the people who write books seem to not do what is asked ??? Why not get approval ??

      The parable of the sower is about the three degrees of glory . Sower being Jesus Christ . The seeds that land on the bad soil the middle soil and the good soil . The bad soil gets30 percent . The middle soil gets 60 percent and the good soil gets 100 percent . The soil the birds carried off is outer darkness . So all are better then the 7 percent the earth gives you . Here it is teaching about the degrees of glory . Again a broken heart is a soft heart and change of heart to be taught .

      Consecration is explained in the temple exactly what it is . To sacrifice your time your talents your energy to building up the kingdom of God on earth . Concentration is not giving away everything and living in some commune . Each person had their own land and their own homes according to their needs. And they can build up their needs and then concentrate their extra to others in the bishop’s store house . Also if you want to leave you can and still own your own land . This is explained very clearly in the doctrine and covenants hand book . We do not live in evil communes. We see this way that there is not poor among us . We now have tithing and fast offerings and service of our time and talents in what areas we are called and in ministering . Seeing that needs are met through the proper ways .

      @@lindamartinez7006 Sometimes when a person has a broken heart, the heart that hurts, it can draw you closer to the Lord for help and healing. It can also cause one's heart to be softened due to suffering. James Talmage said Christ died of a broken heart, literally and from sorrow. Psalms 69:20 states "Reproach hath broken my heart; and I am full of heaviness: and I looked for some to take pity, but there was none; and for comforters, but I found none. 😢

    Except Steve needs to realize that not everybody can access the gate of marriage here. Some have to wait until the Millennium in order to access their blessings. Because some single members can't get access to it here being of no fault of their own having not had the opportunity. So in that situation where we don't have the opportunity to marry being of no fault of our own we have to put all the others through the gate to give them all their blessings and wait until the millennium to get access.

    • @AwakeAndAscend
      @AwakeAndAscend 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Although I would agree that many blessing are postponed until the millennium, being born of the Spirit can happen for all (including non-married people) once they have received the baptism of water, and the laying on of hands for the intended reception of the Holy Ghost. Following that we make the offering of the broken heart and contrite spirit in complete surrender and we are All-in with God as to our lives and our will, we can receive the promised blessing, the Holy Ghost, the SAME as on the day of Pentecost, even as the apostles of old received it.

    • @germanslice
      @germanslice 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@AwakeAndAscend God has said through our leaders that he will not remove all of our trials. For some trials have to be endured here in this life and that's why you need the blessing of the Holy Ghost to give you the strength to be able to endure if its Not God's will to remove the trial.. . That is why some have the trials removed if its the Lord's will to remove them and are healed (if that's the Lord's will for them) while others have to learn to endure them and are called to drink from that bitter cup because its God's will for them to endure them instead and in that situation the key is to learn to drink from the bitter cup without becoming all bitter (Neal a. Maxwell) so for some God lets the vexing trials continue on no matter the fastings the prayers the pleadings, its not always God's will to fix everything..(See Dallin H. Oaks, Do you have Faith NOT to be healed?)
      So yes some blessings are postponed for some and not for others. So in the case of those who have vexing trials like SSA, if they unable to marry in this life being of no fault of their own since they didn't ask for the SSA then they have to live the Lords law of chastity here in this life in order to get in the Celestial Kingdom and them marry the opposite sex during the Millennium when Satan's power is not around or if some are able to marry here in this life and can withstand all of Satan's Power and buffetings and don't have deep ongoing conflicts with SSA then they should go ahead and marry the opposite sex..
      You cannot trifle around with sacred things.. All things must be done in wisdom and in order including marriage.
      So I agree with Elder Holland that the solution to deep unsolved conflicts over sexuality for SSA single members is more
      focus on keeping the law of chastity than on more emphasis on sexuality.
      The way into the Celestial Kingdom is not easy.

      Hi Patricia, I found the interview somewhat overwhelming as well. I like to keep things simpler. My husband who passed away when he was 45 wrote something in his journal that I have framed:
      "The one thing that is most important in this world is our testimony of Jesus Christ and our relationship with Him. All else revolves around this one thing."
      By small and simple things we develop our relationship with our Saviour: sincere prayer, gratitude, making and keeping covenants, physically and spiritually partaking of the sacrament, reading the Book of Mormon daily, forgiving, ministering, repenting daily, serving in the temple, etc. Doable!
