I remember watching your videos when I joined Emirates in 2014 - they were a great resource at that time. I have moved on from Dubai and aviation but it is nice to see you’re well and I’m excited to see your next chapter :)
Glad to hear your story and good luck to your careers. Is Emirates still under consideration for your husband as a pilot? Unfortunately there are no videos by pilots describing a career at Emirates airline. Would you recommend someone to leave a pilot career in a major airline in Canada to go to Dubai and join Emirates? What was the general mood amongst pilots? Looking forward to your answer and hopefully a video on this topic would be appreciated!
Hi there, thanks for your question. Our take on this is that right now, no we aren’t considering returning to Emirates as flight crew. The reasons are because a) flight crew for EK fly a lot (900hrs per year) and the flying they are doing is a combination of short haul multi sector flying, medium haul, long haul, and ultra long haul. They really can get a combination of all flight durations and the flights are likely to span over many time zones so it’s extremely exhausting. b) the pay isn’t competitive for us right now but in the past that has been a factor that we have been interested in. c) although the lifestyle in Dubai is nice with plenty of perks, we have a great lifestyle now in the States which we wouldn’t be able to have back in Dubai. Plus we have kids now which we didn’t have when we were with Emirates so that’s another reason why we aren’t willing to uproot in the near future. d) finally, not really a reason but more of a summary - although EK offers tax free salary and a nice comfortable lifestyle with plenty of allowances, we regard our work/life balance pretty highly and right now America is the winner. We always keep our options open though as I think many pilots do. You just never know what curveball is going to come hurling your way next! Good luck and yes, I can post a video on this in the future.
Omg Lisa Single - you were a legend back in time when l wanted to become Emirates crew , nice to see you back !!❤️in the meantime l joined emirates and l left during pandemic 🥲, but you were who inspired me to join 😍
Thank you so much for your comment and your kind words 🥰 I’m so glad I was able to help you! Isn’t it so strange to think back to that time when I was making videos about Emirates?! I had so much support with the videos, it was such a wild ride but so much fun. I hope you hang around to see what’s next, my life is even more exciting now than it was during my time at EK!
I never saw your channel before, but this is a very interesting video! It's great to see how adaptable you've been without being bitter about how your career has come out, and to see what a great attitude you and your husband how Covid changes your plans. You're right, you're lucky! Cincinnati is a good place to live for anyone who travels, since it's a hub for many international (and domestic) airlines.
That’s such a lovely compliment, thank you for taking the time to say hello. Resilience is definitely an art we’ve become quite good at as a whole family unit 😆
I worked for American Airlines for 23 years, not as a flight crew member. Flight attendants in the US are worked like rented mules. They are not treated with much respect by both the company and the customers. They are paid only when the pilot takes off the parking brakes until they set the parking brakes again, even though they may have been at work for hours. It is not an easy job and a lot of flight attendants have to apply for government assistance because they make so little. This is US airlines only I’m speaking of.
Yes it’s sad to see the flight attendants being undervalued here in the US. They are certainly underpaid for the critical role they play in the care and safety of their passengers. I talk to many FA’s as I fly a lot domestically within the US and it always makes me sad to hear how many of them feel under appreciated.
@ would you say having 1500hrs is good enough for the states right now. It’s mainly all single engine piston. Or is it better to go states with some turbine time?
No you can definitely come to America with 1,500 single engine piston time, as long as you have 1,500 total! Obviously with limited twin time and/or no jet time it’s going to be a huge jump for you and you’ll feel behind the aircraft A LOT at the beginning but that’s what ground school is for and as long as you can keep up with your class you’ll be fine. There are far fewer airlines right now that are taking E3’s from Australia with just 1,500 but you can try Commute Air, GoJet and maybe SkyWest but the more hours you build on top of that the better. The recruitment process can be lengthy so just keep hour building even after you apply. Good luck!
Even if that’s the case you can still apply for Emirates and disclose the details around your dismissal at your discretion. If you make it to an interview and they question you on this matter, perhaps you can provide context around the dismissal that justifies your actions? I’m not sure of your situation but there’s always a chance so I say go for it anyway!
I’m so sorry! I have received this feedback once already and I feel bad that this happened because I also get so frustrated with videos that have loud backing music. I’m working on improving this problem for future videos 🙏🏼
Yes, they absolutely do! I had zero experience as a flight attendant when I was offered a job with Emirates. Even if you don’t have experience you will still have as good a chance as any other applicant 😊

@abbyannmary thank you for telling me that! It feels like a lifetime ago when I made those videos 😯 I’m so glad they helped you ♥️

Awesome. Thanks for this vlog. Have an amazing day! Cheers.
Thanks so much! I’m glad you enjoyed it ♥️
Ex emirates crew here, also living in the U.S. Greetings from New Jersey!❤
That’s awesome @bellolamb45 I hope you’re enjoying your post-EK life like we are 😊 Thanks for saying hi!
Very lucky getting the airline job in the states. I’m back in Aussie nearly 1300hrs and still stuck in GA. Hoping to make it over there someday ❤
Keep working at it! Once you get your 1,500 total time you will have a lot more open doors. Sending you positive vibes ♥️

Thank you so much 🙏🏼 that is such a sweet comment. It feels great to be back on TH-cam! Thanks for tuning in ♥️
i would like to ask you about emirates background check do you know something pls?
You will need to answer a questionnaire for Emirates however they cannot do background checks in your own country.
@@lisasingle like even if i was fired from another airline would it affect?

Please make your videos without music or with quieter one because this one was so annoying.
Noted, thank you for that feedback 🫶🏼
Hello Lisa, do they hire inexperienced candidates?
Yes, they absolutely do! I had zero experience as a flight attendant when I was offered a job with Emirates. Even if you don’t have experience you will still have as good a chance as any other applicant 😊
@lisasingle thank u Lisa.
I live in Ohio !!!
So then I have just one question for you… Bengals or Browns?
