I picked some up for the first time down in Texas. It’s my new favorite melon, it’s so sweet, it’s very honey taste like. I suggest letting them ripen a few days
@@inthekitchenwithmatt my god, it’s the tastiest melon I’ve ever had. Not overpowering or too sweet, a perfect blend. I just hope I don’t need to drive to Texas when I crave them
Not too bad! Reminded me of a Cantaloupe / Pear, But not quite as sweet as I thought it would be. My all time favorite fruit is the Atalfuo Mango or Honey Mango. Nothing compares to that :D @@inthekitchenwithmatt
We have these at the store locally, but they're completely white and called snowball melons. They taste exactly like honey. More so in my opinion than a honeydew does. Looked for this video specifically to see if I could eat the rind, haha.
Hey Frank! Actually, those are a little different from the same family but bred differently to be orange on the inside. This particular variety that I show here, is always whitish on the inside. But either way and awesome melon to grow!!
Hey Matt! Me and my friend found the Dino melon at our local supermarket yesterday. We are very excited to try it! Before we try a new fruit we always watch your videos to know what to expect. Our favourite fruit is nispero, have you tried it? // Best regards from Sweden
Hello Theodor!! That is awesome that you found it. Let me know what you think! YES Nispero also known as Loquat is amazing. I grew up with a Loquat tree in my backyard. It is so yummy. I never see it here. But they do grow well here in the AZ. Once I have a yard I will definitely plant some of those trees. I love them!
@@inthekitchenwithmatt Hello Matt! We have now consumed the Dino melon we bought yesterday, all of it. It is now our new favourite melon. Also we are jealous of your nispero trees, it is our dream to grow a tree here in Sweden! // Best regards
@@theodorstern120 Do glad you like it!! They may be able to grow in Sweden, they can only tolerate cold as low as 10F/-12C. I guess it would depend on what part of Sweden you were in. Oh by the way, I have a lot of ancestry from Norway and Sweden. My dad's mother was half Norwegian and half Sweden. I would love to visit Scandanavia someday.
I acquired 2 of these from the free food distribution that we get twice a month, they're sitting on my kitchen counter and I'm looking forward to having one for breakfast tomorrow. You can eat the rind! Cool!
Very popular here in Australia. There are heaps of other tropical and other summer fruits in Australia. The thing that I also liked is yellow watermelon. Yes yellow not red inside
So interesting to see and learn about different varieties of fruit. This is something new for me today, if I ever see it at the store I'll know what it is. You're a wealth of information. Thanks Matt!
@@inthekitchenwithmatt ok so i ate it and the outside, not bad, i did eat the seeds, and found the middle was the sweetest and the seeds i enjoyed, but overall i d refer cantaloupe or honey dew thanks for sharing the video
@@rawauthenticvulnerable You are welcome!! It is hard to compete with cantaloupe and honeydew those are two awesome melons! Glad you were able to give this one a try though.

I just sliced it and ate the inside
The best melon i've had yet
Awesome! Glad you tried one and liked it!

Awesome! Yep that is definitely another name for them. :) I actually just bought more yesterday haha.
I am going to grow some of those in my garden this year. Another name for them is "Orange Silverwave" Melon.

Awesome! Let me know what you think once you try them. :) :) Yes, super cool you can eat it!
Bought one of these to try yesterday. Not sure what's special about it as to me it just tastes like a honey dew melon
Glad you tried it. What is special is how it looks haha. It should taste similar to a honeydew, it is a "honeydew" cultivar.
Looks very delicious.... thank you for sharing sir... one of your follower here. Keep safe.

This is new to me and looks good and healthy eating, will definitely give it a try. Thanks Matt, you're the best.
You are welcome! Yes please give it a try sometime. Such a great fruit!
That's a big portion of melon to eat at once! I cut melons across in slices so there's a flat surface for it to stand on in the fridge.
Yes I like melons and eat big portions.
@@inthekitchenwithmatt I just opened my first one. Wow! As good as a ripe Piel de Sapo. They're now being sold in UK, in a supermarket!

Very interesting Matt! Never seen those before :)
Thanks!! I am sure they would grow well in Southern Spain. But not sure if they actually have them there.
